  1. Looking back I would say Jomtien immigration do a very good job.

Because I have visited Thailand almost yearly for the last 20 years I know that it is pointless to get mad, so I always present a calm and polite personality. ( Though inside I could kill lol ) .

But looking from the other side I can understand why some people lose it.

For example Immigration , with the TM30 are quite happy that I have proven where I live BUT if you want to open a bank account? You have to get a residence certificate!! I Having a house or wife must test ones limits. lol

To sum up I can understand why people get upset but it is shocking when it happens in front of you.

  2. Thank you "NanLaew",

Getting the original Non - O retirement stamp was a nightmare lol

About seven trips to immigration, always leaving with a request to get a copy of some other paperwork.

The income letter from the embassy had to be counter signed and stamped by the ministry in Bangkok.

The last visit had me doing a hand drawn map of where I live as they would not accept a printed one ??

Getting the extension was straight forward lol

  3. After arriving here in November, and a lot of trips to Jontium soi five I managed to change from a tourist stamp to a non O retirement stamp.

Then today I got the magical one year extension!!

Ok I now have a few questions

What do I need in order to get a bank account? I do not have one  ( If this confuses you then please DO NOT REPLY )

When is my first reporting date?  my original non O stamp was due to expire on  2 Apr so I am guessing that is it?

I have read on the forums here that I can get more than a years worth of use out of this stamp. How do I do this please?

    Jim

  4. I came here just over two months ago on a 28 day stamp, then got a further 28 in Jomtium.

In the meantime I applied for a NON O based on retirement, which I finally got 3rd Jan. Cost 2000 Baht

I did it myself, no agent, but it took about 6 trips and 6 lovely breakfasts at simons lol.

So now immigration has two sets of paperwork on me, they wanted a copy of the originals.

If I had gone via an agent would there be a paperwork trail in my file? Curious in case I need to use them.

My next task is to open a bank account, what paperwork do I need?

  5. I am planning to retire in Thailand and have started the process but have a few questions.

I had a 30 day  stamp in my passport and have extended it for another 30 days

My initial application was finally accepted by Pattaya immigration - did it on my own - 6 visits ( one does not count as the office was shut )

I have a note attached now to my passport, after paying the 2000 bhat fee.

It says NON - O(RETIRE) and a date when to bring back the visa to get stamped.

Will this give me another 90 days stay?

What paperwork do I require to change this visa into a non O-A visa?

I have used the income letter from the embassy for my application

I have police check form and medical
