Thailand has done very well thank you. The USA hasn't learned with over half a million dead!

Farang again! It looks like racist to me.
I guess now you know how it feels in the USA to have a president attacking the "China Virus" leading to a steep increase in crime against Asians. Just be glad no one is beating you up! In the farang countries, it really does amount to criminally stupid negligence, whereas, Asian Americans did nothing. Be happy to be here!

I am a university lecturer here in Isan. Any kind of teacher has a special responsibility to be safe for their students. You don't have to be Sherlocke Holmes to see that an "entertaining time" in Phuket is dangerously irresonsible, and right in the middle of a new outbreak. For shame. Maybe I have to be "entertained" at home, but keep the kids safe. Often I read comments on here quick to blame the government. What a shame, with its tremendous success in controlling Covid. A lot of obese farang retirees would be dead in their home countries.

Glad to hear that. I am sick and tired of hearing this shit from farang in Ubon, and online isn't any better. To paraphrase what we say in my country, "Thailand...love or leave it!" Personally, I just love it. If you do not, you really should consider packing your bags for Singapore or back home. I lived in England two years, dismal weather, dismal people, horrible food.

Just had four months of the most 'horrific weather' imaginable in Chiang Mai, could hardly breath.
I don't know which is more "horrific"...heat and smog or 9 months of snow, going many times as cold as -40 C. I would choose the former, but to each his own, right?

You may be right, I can't imagine anything making their culture less pleasant.
Greed, gold, gold-diggers, gold temples, flooding, dirt, refuse, corruption, pollution, prostitutes.
If it weren't for the prostitutes cheap women, most of us would never have come.
You exemplify exactly the type of racist farang I am talking about. You forgot that they are allegedly "lazy". All this crap you say would want me to want you out of my country also. I live in Ubon, not Pattaya, and the temples, food, lovely kind people, the Buddhist social backdrop, the beautiful weather, so many things. Unlike my country, you know what it doesn't have? Weekly school shootings, police murders of black people, angry, frowning resentful populace, horrific weather (in the north) and as for greed and corruption, please take a look at the current president of the USA before you pass judgment on Thailand.

I suppose the only sad aspect for Thailand is that they are losing "free income" - direct imports of pure cash - from the farang countries. I wouldn't blame them if having us out of here made their culture more pleasant, I could understand that. Still, old white people with lots of cash just to spend, spend, spend on the Thai economy...seems like throwing billions of baht away. The old farang just go to their own bars and restaurants for the most part, as they prepare to die. If anything, their biggest problem is often not engaging the lovely Thai culture more. I guess Cambodia, Lao and the Phillipines will just have to rake in all that free money themselves.

I am seeing some farang in here complaining about the student laziness to learn 550 words, but I ask them, "Do you know that many Thail words?" If one lives in a country, that is pretty minimal also. "When one lives in a glass house, one should not throw stones." I hear that too often "speaks little English" from farang who can say little more than "sawat di krap". I think we ALL need to focus more on learning languages and less time complaining about others' learning of languages.

Thailand’s third COVID-19 wave has already peaked: CCSA

The secret is no secret: the Thai are very cautious but also obedient. They follow the rules and fixed it on the cheap. It doesn't take big money, just masks and isolation...hardly rocket science yet Europeans, USA et. al. are baffled and rebellious.
