  1. I am like a lot of others.  So, so, so confused.  I am United States citizen, married to a Thai National, (we have been married 55 years now) who holds dual US/THAI citizenship.  I am having trouble finding the required insurance for me to go to Thailand.  I am now 77 years old.  We intend to try and go back to Thailand in November of 2022.  Do I need Travel Insurance AND Health Insurance?  I normally have gone on a METV because I only stay 6 months there each year, as we have our own home in Yasothon.  Prior to COVID, it was a piece of cake going over to Laos and back to get the extensions.  So, we are quite poor and I am confused as to what VISA to try for now, and what the costs and requirements are.  ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS ON WHERE I GO TO GET THE NECESSARY INFORMATION????  Thank you.

  2. I see no win win situation here.  As a expat who owns a home in Thailand, married to a Thai for 53 plus years, we lost over $5000 this year just getting out of Thailand and now with their stipulations to come back, we just refuse to put up with that kind of requirements.  I being a retired military have health insurance for LIFE.  I being retired have Medicare insurance for the rest of my life.  Why would I pay the extravagant health insurance premiums the Thai's want when I already have more insurance than I will ever need.  Why would we go to the expense of paying for quarantine when we have our own home in Thailand and would be more than happy to quarantine in our own home.  This is all terrible and does nothing but put the Thai people in jeopardy of their livelihood and life.  So sad.

At last, a very concise and cogent critique of exactly how little difference present plans will make.

One thing for sure, it will make a huge difference to the ability of the country to get the economy back.  At least 90%+ of all folks like me who want to go back to their home in Thailand, will not, as long as these ridiculous requirements are in place.  I feel sorry for the middle and low income people of Thailand, they are dying a sudden death.

  4. I normally do not get involved with the Thai government doing things.  For the most part, I sort of agree with what they are doing.  However, from an outside point of view, this is ridiculous.  All it tells me is that they do not want foreigners in their land.  It is getting to be more and more this way.  I live in Thailand 6 months each year, but I am beginning to feel like it may not be worth it.  It is just sad to me.

  5. You have got to be kidding me.  Does this guy look at the current situation?  I have been keeping track, well as much as you can, and if you believe the Government, than things are progressing nicely.  What does the Emergency Decree do for the "people" other than cause more suicides, loss of income, loss of businesses, etc.  This is lunacy.  Are there no one in Government that can help?  Of course the King could probably help somewhat, if he was in country.

  6. I have posted before about Thailand not sending OUT any mail out of the Kingdom, except by boat.  I still don't have a good answer why?  They (Post Office) just say "no airplanes".  However, my daughter mailed a package of OTC meds to me on 30 April 2020.  Today is the 20th of April 2020.  It arrived at my house here in Na Di Noi (Yasothon) today.  Mail is coming into the Kingdom.  The kicker is:  There has to be an airplane coming here.  So, my package (which cost $65.00) to mail sat in Taiwan until the 18th.  It then came into Bangkok, then thru Customs and then here to Yasothon.  Fortunately my daughter had US Post Office Tracking so I was able to see when/where it was at.  The Virus is a sad thing.

  7. Regardless of what they end up doing, if they do not restructure airline ticket costs more in line with the rest of the airlines, they might as well just sell their airplanes.  They have been so out of touch with prices against what other airlines charge, why would anyone want to fly Thai Airways.  That is my opinion.

Thailand is already well-known for its hospitality, warmth, and friendliness

That is true to a certain extent, however in this day and age Thailand is also known for corruption, scams, pollution, xenophobia, dual pricing, high prices for sub - standard services, shocking health and safety standards, bizarre government rules that change at any time etc.

His aims are good, but something like this is just not going to happen.

In this trying time, I would say any action is better than no action, regardless of the motive or outcome.  Normal (what is that?) people need to get back to work, not only in Thailand, but around the world.  This whole hoax is a shame and China, Bill Gates, and George Soros need to be brought to task for their involvement in this horrific pandemic.
