I will also link this to the visa section as you will probably get a better reponse there too.

What if?
is it possible to apply for a family permit on a UK passport and have a letter of nationality from a hosting embassy?
Long shot but time in country is running out and Dutch passport far to slow to be produced.

Didn’t think Anyone would have worth a shot though.

Thanks for all the replies to date,
I personally don’t believe there was an error in the pay scales emailed; I think it’s a normal reflection of prices ranges depending on our ethnicity assumed by the hospital at the time. In reflection to all of this I have decided to allow fatty and mother to sort out a pay scale and get it in writing, elevating my presence might get a more fortuitous result, I find out on Monday so I will let you all know the result asap.

Thought I would share this little gem with you all, I recently asked Pattaya BKK Hospital how much it would cost to have our baby delivered there.
These are the original extracts from my emails:
Message
HOW MUCH TO HAVE MY WIFES BABY DELIVERED, SHE IS THAI AND LOCAL?
End Message.
REPLY
The doctor will recommend if your wife is fit for the Delivery package.
If your wife attend her ANC in England, please bring the ANC history and record.
There are 3 Delivery package available in our facilities: Natural Vaginal Delivery, painless Vaginal Delivery and Cesarean Section.
The approximate cost of each package is 29,900 baht,34,900 baht and 39,900 baht respectively.
I thought I had lost this Email so I re-asked them 3 months on to confirm their prices and this was the reply I received:
The approximate cost of Natural Vaginal Delivery is 71,000 THB,
and Painless Vaginal Delivery is 90,000 THB,including 2 nights hospitalization, doctor fee, labour room service and
hospital service charge. For Cesarean section, the approximate cost is about 130,000 THB, including 3 nights hospitalization, doctor's fee, labour room and hospital service charge. accommodation, nursing and room service charge and meals.
Is it just me or does anyone else feel that this is a slightly interesting price plan change?

Put the baby on the breast during the climb and descent. It clears blocked ears.
mine or hers?

If I remember correctly the baby flies for free! Check with your travel agent.
Today I found out I would be entitled to a family permit on the advice from The Scouse I shall pursue that avenue saving me a settlement fee, now I can fly babies around the world for free? It’s my lucky day.
Thank you kindly for that advice I shall be on the blower to Eva + Thai airways ASAP.

We travelled with our boy at 3 months back to the US. EVA provided a bassinet at no extra charge. Much easier to travel with him then than later at 1.5 years!
Do i have to book a seat for tha baby or is the price increased by having them held?
i know i am not too good at this baby stuff!!

i only uploaded that 2 seconds before you replied, you working for the BIG MAN HIMSELF? ( its a sign...)

Wife and I are having a baby in Thailand in November and shortly after intend to fly to the UK, baby, wife and myself.
This is our first baby and I haven’t a clue about how they work or anything, guess it will be one big learning curve from here on in.
Has any one ever been in a similar situation, I am trying to establish how I would go about this i.e. seating arrangements, costing, airline notification, special requirements, how the baby is to be carried etc etc.
I will endeavour to get a direct flight, carrying the baby in a mosses basket (travel variant) or in a sling thing sat with my wife and me. Do airlines charge extortionate prices for such arrangements?
As you can see I am at a loss and any handy hints, expenses guides, packing essentials, spare money or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Does any one know if it is possible to apply for a marriage visa for me (Brit with Thai wife) whist I am here in the UK, if so are the conditions, costs, standards and all that paperwork of a similar standard?
I can’t seem to source any info on the matter on any Thai embassy or consulate web site and my Thai reading ability “Aint” all that. I know this site offers some general guidance on its home page but is there any definitive thorough explanation anywhere?
Ring the Embassy sounds like a thoroughly good idea maybe.
Regards to all readers.

Taz,
There is another Thai Buddhist Temple in Woking, not too far from Wimbledon by train (20 mins Apx) they could accommodate her there during the days too if it was something she would be interested in. The monks there are good, speak good English and would love you to join her too. They have a large ceremony there on the 1st Sunday of every month which has a large Thai attendance but ferang are more than welcome.
I go there often and if you required any further information, phone numbers, addresses etc I would be more than happy to help. If it was just her attending then they could arrange for a Thai helper to pick her up from the station too.

Dear forum,
I have asked for advice on hospitals in Thailand / Pattaya and received some positive and interesting feed back.
I am now interested to see if anyone has delivered a baby and used private medical insurance to pay for it, as my finance is pregnant I am looking at covering as many bases as possible.
Any experiences or advice on THIS matter would be greatly received.

Please consider finding any location other than Pattaya for your wife to give birth. Being a luk-kreung with Pattaya on one's birth certificate -- Chonburi even -- is something that will haunt your child the rest of their life.
Wierd... care to explain why?
-
I recall that it's a UK visa that you'll be supporting, in which case, you may well have a decision within a week of applying. However, if an interview is deemed appropriate, your missus will be given the firat available appointment which currently seems to be at the 5-6 week mark.
Scouse.
Additional detail:
• Spouse Visa
• After marriage in Thailand
• UK
• Every shred of plausible evidence I can lay my hands on
• Visa will be made using a registered / professional OISC representative.

How soon can we expect a decision from the Embassy on any application and what’s the score with “Premium service”?
-
I've flow regular with both airlines (living in Qatar) and agree with what most people have said there is nothing between the two airlines. Go with the one with the best connection. I've experienced delays leaving Qatar on a regular basis, but it does seem to be improving, both airports are boring is you have to spend several hours there.
What you might find is that the flight to Bangkok is an older plane that the flight from Manchester (the service in Business class is far superior flying to Europe than Asia)
Qatar Airways intend to be one of the biggest airlines in the world and they will be the way they are expanding at the moment.
Good luck
Ps. When booking flights from Thailand I've found that Save flights provide a great service (ticket delivery)
I have flown with most airlines going now I think that Eva, and Thai are amazing airlines.
Qutar airlines are a Joke and I will avoid flying with them at all cost, I am usually the last person to complain and I would fly in a cargo plane full of chickens if it meant getting to Thailand in a timely manner.
I have had the experience with flying with them on 2 occasions the 1st I was delayed out of BKK for 4 hours which meant I missed my Doha connection to London and flew into Frankfurt I have no idea how many hours this put on the flight but it was emotional.
The 2nd time I flew with them they didn’t have any booze, food was awful and 6-7 hours in Doha is just painfully boring.
For a few more pounds you could get a direct flight with Eva.
