  1. Yes the code "ftt" in banking refers to Foreign Telegraphic Transfer, and I am using bangkok bank. Wise transfers of less then 50.000 Baht take seconds. But in my case they did not show up as "ftt" transfers and immigration did not accept them. Luckily I had enough correct transfers to cover 700k+ Baht which they accepted for my application.
  2. Yes I found that out when the immigration officer asked me to get foreign funds transfer receipts from the bank for every single transaction that was done from overseas. The Wise transactions that were done on a real time basis, that is all transactions below 50.000 Baht were shown as local bank transfers. The Wise transactions that take 1-2 days to process (transactions over 50.000 Baht) were correctly shown as "ftt" transactions.
  3. Thank you. Just in case I will be printing out all transfer documents of my foreign banks to prove, just in case.
  4. Ok thats good to know. I had money coming from different sources and different countries. Will this make a difference or create any problems? Or is the main thing that it came into Thailand from another country?
  5. Hello, in the requirements for applying for a non-o retirement visa it states that prove of international funds transfer of 800k Baht into the bank account is required. Copies of all pages of the bank book have to be provided. Does someone know how the IO knows that funds have come from overseas? Will they check where the money came from exactly? Or does that not matter as long as it has been transferred from outside of Thailand? Does anyone know?
  6. I will try to give the actual factual explanation that is true and hope the bank will accept it. I do not have a German address any more so I cannot give this address to the bank. Should they insist I give them a TIN I will have to try to get it from an agency however. Do you know how to locate such an agent that is honest and reliable? Great info. In case they insist I prove to them I have not been there for more than 180 days I will apply for this.
  7. I do not have investments in Thailand. I have a bank account but no withholding tax was deducted. I usually just use my ATM card to withdraw money from my German bank account (not the account in question). I am not a tax resident, as I do not spend more than 180 days in Thailand. In the letter from the bank they also give the option: "If you have not yet received a TIM, please explain why!" I mean I can tell them that I am not a tax resident as I do not stay here more then 180 days per year, the question is if they will accept this or not. That sounds like an explanation they could accept. Thank you for the advice. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it! I was here less than 180 days.
  8. Read the discussion on page 4, there is a connection. I was promising to post this picture once I got it.
  9. So I have a investment bank account in Germany with a stock portfolio which is registered under my Thai address. I have been living on and off in Thailand for the past 10 years. I always stay here on visa exempt entries but planning to get a non-immigration O visa for retirement this month. My bank sent me a letter that they would need a tax ID from the country that my bank account is registered to. I do not have a tax ID from Thailand. I earn income from a rental property in Germany. This income is taxed in Germany. I am not registered in Germany any more, as I am mostly traveling around the world with my base being in Thailand most of the year. Can I get a Thai tax ID once I have the non-immigrant O visa? Or what are my options here? The bank said they will close my account in 3 months if I cannot provide the required information. Anyone with the same problem here? I am happy to provide more details. Thank you.
  10. I wanted to post the list of requirements for the non-O retirement visa application. That is the document that I received at Chaeng Wattana Immigration Office. I have all the documents but I am still nervous. You just never know if they will accept everything. I will be going on the 24th, fingers crossed.
  11. I will go to immigration in Bangkok next week and report back what the latest list of documents needed is. Thank you for your feedback.
  12. I read that they need a confirmation from the bank, as well as the full bank book. Is there a detailed list of what exact documents to bring? I also need to ask my landlord if he can provide me documents for me renting his condo I guess. One more question is whether I can apply for this visa when I am in another province, or do I have to apply in Bangkok since my rented condo is here?
  13. I had Non O visas 20+ years ago. I would love to convert my visa exempt entry to a Non O visa (retirement) inside of Thailand. Does the 800k Baht have to be in that bank account for at least 2 months prior to my application? Or only at the time of the application? So I turn 50 on March 24th, and my visa exempt ends on April 11th. That is 18 days, but only 14 business days. Hope that will be fine for most immigration offices. What is the earliest date that I could apply for the 12 months extension of this non O visa? Thanks for all the info really appreciate it.
  14. She said it has to be a non immigrant visa because I stay in Thailand for too long. I basically stay here almost 180 days per year. So far there were no problems but now it seems they are cracking down on the too many visa exempt entry people. I have no registered home address in Germany. Thats why I do not have an ID card. On the embassy homepage this is a prerequisite for applying for a non O visa, either an ID card or a verified document showing my address in Germany I have a Thai bank account and I can transfer 800.000 Baht. Why do you think that is that not a good option? I have been more or less living here since 1999. Back then it was easy to get a non immigrant visa. The consul in my hometown even filled in the application for me, and for 50 Euros you had your multiple entry non O visa within 15 minutes. I want to stay in Thailand most of the times, while traveling abroad on a frequent basis. I think 90 days per visit would be fine for me.
  15. Thank you for the response. I would think more that it would be an issue when I enter Thailand again. As the IO today instantly asked me why I did not fly out on the date that I had previously given to the IO when first entering Thailand on a visa exempt entry. When I have the correct non o visa that might probably not be an issue any more. Yes I will be 50 on March 24th. But I am not registered in my home country, which a prerequisite for obtaining a Non O visa. I heard it is possible to obtain that visa inside of Thailand via agents. Not sure how legit this is, but it requires a lot less documents. Not sure if this will lead to problems at the airport later. Any thoughts?
