I've lived "in the rice fields" for 5 years... Alone. However... Thai people.. Thai ladies.. Think I'm weird living alone.
TIT... it can be a very difficult culture to understand
I think at least to understand the culture 20 years. In my shop at Holland also had many years Thai men worked. The problem is just the immigration office.
I thought longtime before if post this topic but just wanted to make clear that Thailand is amazing. Even if ask before what you need, all can change quickly. And can change again.. Nothing is sure. Not about my personal situation,,,,

TIT, Welcome to Thailand.....

1 week before I wanted to extend my visa, i have gone to Immigration at Kap Choeng to ask what I would exactly need. When the boss heard that I live alone in a small village she told cannot have 1 year extension because nobody quarantee that I live there and it is unusual/dangerous to live alone at a ricefield city where is nothing to do. After some discussion (example I told I had extensions 3x before) she ordered someone to write down the requirements. The extension could in her opinion only when the "home owner from which I have a rent contract" send a signed document from her ID, her living tabain bahn and the tabain bahn from the home I rent.
When I had all the documents including the other necessary ones I went back there with a well known business man from the next city. With 3 people they checked all the documents and after the boss started again cannot give the required extension because live alone!
After long discussions in which the friend told that I really like to live quiet and all the people in cities around there like me she still not wanted. Finally I showed her the documents from my past wife and my 12 years old sun, marry, born and died, together with strong pictures my wife laying dead on the road under the concrete and pictures of my sun who lives 15 km away from me. After this she told me to be sorry and extended my visa. The 3 documents which they needed 1 week before, they not needed anymore and gave back.
What I not like is why it has to come to this point, for what reason.... I not see the necessary from the documents ex wife and sun.If really needed why not asked a week before.
My friend had to sign that I really lived there. If not trust they could come visit me. I know the boss is allowed to ask more information/documents but I not see the reason to refuse on a living alone reason because many farang live alone and get an extension.
But ok I have my extension....with re-entry. Hope next year it will be more easy....

So you currently have a non O based on retirement?
You can obtain 60 day extension .
https://aseannow.com/topic/1155570-visa-exempt-entry-can-be-extended-for-60-days-visit-family/
Yes, because my year extension was over renewing time when I was abroad. I applied for a 90 days non O based on retirement. I thought I could easily extend this visa with a month, until I saw your explanation in an other topic...
-
Is it possible to extend my current 90 days Non O retirement visa based on my 12 years old Thai sun? If can, does he need to go with me to immigration or can I just show the birth certificate (his mother died longtime ago, also have marry/ death certificate). Second option is walk over the border chon chom (Cambodia)... Can i walk in and out as before in 1 hour? Get visa exemption and extend this after?

If you had a non O based on retirement you cannot obtain 30 extension.
However if married you can obtain a 60 day extension to visit wife.
Of course you can obtain a 12 month extension however that has financial requirements.
Thank you for advice..Have a sun 12 years old, have all documents...married wife, birtcertificate, certificate of wife died..does he need to go with me in person? Second 1 year extension can; money is over 10 years in a bank all the year. Or just walk over the border and come back on exemption? And can get after 30 days again.. This time need about 4-5 months to can stay

I'm sorry but I cannot work out what status you have in Thailand.
Assumed non O and asking about 12 month extension.
30 day extension is available for visa exempt and tourist visa entry.
Dr Jack, is 30 day extension not available for a 3 month NON O visa based on retirement?

Anyone knows what is the website for the E-learning? Is usually appointment needed at DLT or if I show up with all the documents they can renew the license right away?
At Surin I not made an appointment but did the E-learning at home already. Because all offices act probably not same it would be better to ask at forehand in your office..

My licence expires on my birthday. Question- how long after your birthday can you go an renew? So I can get the longer period of time on it?
Any guidance appreciated.
You get at least 5 years and then until your birthday. I let it expire 1 week, get 5 years and then 51 weeks to my birthday= 5 years and 51 weeks. Your DL can be expired until 1 year, but this not give axtra validity.. I suggest you let it also expire about 1 week. If I not explain clear tell me.

500baht is ridiculous, however guessing you received it on the spot.
It's 200b at CW and takes 1-2 weeks.
Some offices it's free..
Yes, received it on the spot in Kap Choeng and told them that the DLT said only need 1... I not wanted to make problems because I need them again... By the way at DLT I paid all together 760 bath...

Yesterday renewed DL. Came to the overcrowded office at 08.45 and left at 10.00.
2 weeks ago i informed at the office what papers I would need . The woman told : 2 old DL,copy passport from photo and visa page, copy E-visa, a health certificate which could be from a clinic and if not had yellow book a certificate of residence and the QR code from the E-learning. The woman also told that I just needed 1 original document from a clinic and 1 certificate of residence. For the second set for the second DL i could copy them!
After i took 2 papers from a clinic for 30 bath each and went to the immigration. The immigration told that I needed 2 certificates of residence of 500 bath each.
The E-learning took about 1 hour; 4 sessions of 15 min each. The received QR code has a validity of 6 months. The health certificate and Certificate of residence have a validity of 1 month.
When yesterday I showed my 2 set of papers an other woman asked why took 2 original expensive COR from immigration because for the second application a copy was enough. In the future I not will do that again.
Because the new driving licenses have a minimal validity of 5 years and is always valid until your birthday, I let them expire 1 week. So I got new licences with a validity of 5 years and 51 weeks; nearly 6 years.
All the people at the DLT were very kind and helpfull.

In my case down inform status it showed A green vink with informed. I made pictures from this

just been through it.
Accepted formats are jpeg, jpg, and pdf.
I used both jpegs and pdf's.
Seems fine so farThank you...The biodata page and a photo you sent in Jpeg? I could not find somewhere that pdf is accepted..

For safety I uploaded EVERYTHING as Jpeg even the originals were PDF
Probably better. In the manual only the biodata page and photo were mentioned to upload as Jpeg. The download form as travel plan is already in pdf. When convert a multiple page pdf document to Jpeg , in Jpeg they are separate pages.
The embassy didn't answer my question about this; just sent a manual link...
-
Does someone know in which format the documents need to be uploaded. I saw in general visa condititions:
Apply for a new visa
- "Upload biodata page of passport and a photo taken within the last 6 months (JPG / JPEG format, size not exceeding 3 MB"
Just wonder if the other documents can be uploaded in pdf.

You will need to have stamps, visa info transfered to new passport prior to applying for next extension.
You can do it on same visit.
TM30 shouldn't be required if returning to same residence as before
Thank you for the clear and helpful info; I will do it in this way.
3 month's non O extend 1 year as retirement with some problems
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

Yes you are right. But when I came to apply I had all this documents. They refused extension on the fact that I live alone. As the post tell, in the last they gave the extension and...not need the above mentioned documents.. They just kept the rental agreement.
