My question is this.
My 5 year Driving (from Morchit) is going to expire soon.
I will be in Chiang Mai for a week or so.
Can I renew it in Chiang Mai or any other places in Thailand.
My Yellow Book address is Bangkok.
Can I renew it in Chiang Mai ? Or other places in Thailand ?
Thanking you all in advance.
This post will be to late to assist you Kismet but it may be of help to others in the same situation.
My 1 year licence was due to expire at the end of this month, my yellow book address is in Phetchaburi. I have just got my 5 year licence from the very efficient and friendly office in NST, they told me that you can apply for new licences up to 60 days before the old one expires. When I checked my new licence I noticed that the the 'Issue Date' was post dated to the day after my old licence expired when I queried this they said it was fine and OK to use immediately.
And how long is it valid? When you renew after expiry date (so e.g. day after your birthday) you get 5 years plus time till next birthday, so effectively 6 years).
That's correct I have until March 2018

I would much rather be in a section of 'lean mean' men than pumped up muscle bound guys that can lift incredible weights in the gym and then go and eat their huge beef steaks and down their protein drinks in the mess afterwards.
I have seen these guys after 3 weeks in the field on 'rat packs' and without regular sleep, they seem to visibly shrink before your eyes, they have no energy, they become lethargic and get moody whereas the smaller leaner guys tend to cope. There is no way these huge muscle bound guys could have tabbed across the Falklands carrying everything they needed on their backs in the conditions we faced and then fight a battle. In all honesty I think they fare better in Afghan because most of the time the FOB's (forward operating bases) are quite well supplied.
Moving to Vietnam my father in law did a full career with the Thai Army (many years in Special Forces), he weighs about 10 stone wet through and was a scout for the Americans (who he loves to this day), but he does say 'not good soldier, too slow, too much ice cream, too much coke a cola ha ha ha'. I guess some things never change.

My niece has been granted a F1 visa to study in the US, she is not sure of her exact return date to Thailand.
Will there be a problem if she turns up in Washington on a one way ticket.
Many thanks guys.

I am a 59 year old ex soldier (25 years service) and have always kept myself fit. When I arrived here 7 months ago my 72 year old father in law ran me into the ground. He has done it just about every week since.

SHUSH!!!!!!!!! Someone may be listeningThe number of tourists visiting Thailand will increase approx 50%, compared to last year, despite the GEC and floods and catching a terrorist with bomb-making equipment here, of course it will !
Why not make all of us permanent-residents make weekly border-runs, and double the number of arrivals, whilst they're at it ?

Just phoned my bank manager [bangkok Bank Phetchaburi]to tell her that I would be in tomorrow to collect my letter to prove that my 800000 Baht has been in my account for more than 60 days [my 1st extension]. She informed me that it would take 3 days as she would have to get it from head office.
From all I have read on this site I'm assuming she is wrong and doe's not have a clue what she is talking about, unfortunately as this is my first attempt at getting said letter, neither do I.
I have searched the site and cannot find a sample letter that I can show this woman, can someone please point me in the right direction on this matter. Thanks.

1. Does anyone know a decent mossie repellent I'm using 'Soffell Liquid Spray' at the moment and I'm sure they are attracted by it.
2. I'm in desperate need of a decent stream for the Wales/France game.
Thanks Guys

I have a Non-Immigrant Multiple entry visa issued in Cardiff. If I do border runs every 90 days it will give me about 15 months, but can I, if I choose apply for a 12 month extension based on retirement before this visa expires, assuming of course that my 800000 baht has seasoned.
Thanks in advance

That's brilliant thanks guys.

I will be moving to Thailand on a non imm O based on retirement early next month. I do not have a Thai bank account at the moment. Is it OK for me to SWIFT
800,000 baht into my Thai wifes account, open an account in my name when I arrive and then transfer the money into it or do I have to transfer the money
into an account in my name direct.Thanks.

I had the same problem and was advised by a Thai neighbour to buy a 'EZI Pest Repeller' you plug it into a socket and it sends out electromagnetic waves, rats, roaches hate it and clear off after a few days. I have been using it for about 3 months now and am very happy with it I don't even see ants in the kitchen anymore. It is also pet friendly, well for cats and dogs I guess your pet rat or hampster wouldn't be too happy. Cost about 600 baht.
