Nice move by Thai government. Elite Visa holders now can leave and re-enter Thailand as they please.

Uhmm... subject to quarantine at both ends of trip which you pay for combined with expensive flights.

Then just add in few things like,

    - any insurance isn't going to cover you if country of origin has it on a restricted or warning list.

    - business risk, legal exposure? Inadvertently bring it back into an office environment? I'm still in touch with corporate people and international travel is not even being considered. Risk just too high.

2022 if lucky before travel is somewhat normal, uhmm less restricted. Though airlines are selling off planes for a reason.

    Good work Thailand.

Thailand has put the rest of the world to shame fighting the virus.

They said "cope" not manage, contain, control, fight. Cope

Better let "the government should fix the economy". I hope other nations follow this advice.

That said sooner or later I will fix the leaking tap but I'm not coping very well with the task so tomorrow.

It is so difficult that 24.2 million people have done it

As I previously said, only conveying what I am told so no need to be so sarcastic? Anyway, what’s your source? Wait don’t tell me, the government? ????????????

I don't think the comment is necessarily sarcastic. It can just be, "well? 24.2 million would be who?"

Population 70m. Over 18, employment conditions met (???). Sure there's a lot that are affected but 24.2 million that's 1/3 of population meeting those conditions. Let's add in few family pets and strays.

Auditing will be fun. Repayments funnier.

That said, not my concern. No country can pay for these bailouts but no alternative

Every other post refers to the horse bolting before the door is shut.

I hope that after the virus has gone that they let all the horses back in...  :coffee1:

You missed the news that African flu has sprung up in race horses here. Somewhere north. A lot killed, dead.

    So unfortunately no bolting horses.

  5. Somethings wrong with this story.

First. A Thai tax advisor not an accountant.

Then why is embassy staff taking him to hospital and Thai govt making statements?

I'm sure if I get a punch in the nose here I'm not going to my embassy first. Or is he attached to it.

Then if he was what govt official would make a public statement about it let alone a PM.

If the worse thing that happens to one of your citizens overseas is a punch in the nose well...

You do understand the fingerprints are only linked to your passport number.

To pick a random persons fingerprints and attach a name takes many hours of computer time.

The only red flag would be raised if someone with different fingerprints tried to enter on your passport.

    (Assuming the scanners actually work)

Fully concur. People making claims otherwise have no idea of the sheer scale of such a system that could instantly match all details. Just not happening.

Best bet for poster is get the appropriate legal advice. It would probably have to go before the courts but once a child is involved I don't see why some sort of arrangement can on compassionate grounds.

Working without a permit isn't that serious and there is the child, wife and her family to think about.

It may cost a bit but approach it right I'm sure it can be done.

Application to a court. Ignore passport advice. Doing something underhand always can come back and bite you with worse consequences.

  7. About 6 mths ago I flew in, 30 day exempt, extended 60 days, just went in and asked immigration. Okay what now. Eventually, (I left it just too late to kick off process, do it first week), I got non O.

That's your easiest path especially with funds already in bank.

The more you ask around and read the more confusing it gets. Just ask the people that are going to stamp your passport.

Also don't stress too much about immigration. Doesn't matter if it takes 2 or 3 trips. It's an outing! Met a few people, have a look around!

Is this in Bkk only? I really dont want my kid in school but because we have to travel all the time if he is absent too much he would be forced to stay down. The pm2.5 is much worse in kanchanaburi than bkk but the teachers are so ignorant and know only the lies the media and their friends say.

Teachers ignorant? "The pm2.5 is much worse..." here then there.

    It's a measurement.

  9. I think it would be actually a lot worse then we realise.

Anyone who has worked in an office environment would have experienced just to organise a meeting is not straight forward. Let alone a press conference.

Just booking rooms, setting time, organising attendees blah, blah... uhmm working out purpose and structure of presentation, its aim, message. Okay let's not go that far.

    Then to present what? Seriously.

Is that right?  I thought it had to be 800k for at least three months after your extension of permission to stay.  Then you can spend provided the total does not fall below 400k.

    Yes! Correct!

Dismissed the article straight after they cannot get the requirements right. Not bad given that point is pretty well cut and paste.

Stuff that up you don't have to worry about 90 day reporting...

Of course, I won't argue on the nonsense requiring a foreigner to show that he has enough money to support himself for one year (the 800 K), yet denying him the use of these same 800 K for a quarter of the year, during which he is maybe required to beg to support himself, waiting for the release of his funds...

You got one thing right. Nonsense.

You only need to apply for an extension of stay of your Non Imm OA Visa at the end of the permission to stay that has been stamped in your passport.  When you leave Thailand and re-enter just before the validity date of your Non Imm OA Visa expires, you will be stamped in for another year.  So, when timed right, a Non Imm OA Visa allows you to stay almost 2 years in Thailand before you need to apply for an extension of stay.

Also note that the health-insurance requirement will only be applicable when you apply for an extension of stay based on your original Non Imm OA Visa for reason of RETIREMENT.  When you are married with a thai national, you can apply when your extension is due for reason of MARRIAGE, and then no health-insurance will be required.

When you are not married and don't want to waste money on the expensive and basically useless thai-approved health-insurance, you could opt to exit Thailand and re-enter Visa-exempt.  Then apply for a 90-day Non Imm O Visa based on retirement at your local IO, which can then be extended in the last month at that same local IO for reason of retirement.

The requirements and conditions for an extension of such a Non Imm O - retirement Visa are the same as for a Non Imm OA - retirement Visa, but do NOT require health-insurance.

That is the most succinct, straight forward, accurate description of Visa options I have ever come across.

    A very genuine well done.

Should type it up nicely and forward to immigration.
