Most of them never had a fine dining experience and or can't really afford it. If you only pick 1 item you might be still hungry, order more food. The pictures of the food shown don't convince me that someone eats that and loves the taste has a fine pallet.

If given a choice I almost always opt for the full tasting menu with their wine pairings

It's the same in the shangarila sala daeng....hi-so food but the urinoirs are touching eachother and the ceiling is so low that a westerner has to duck. Waiters don't speak a word english but the bill will be many thousands pp. And who likes sashimi lobster anyway?

I love their sashimi lobster. Go there regularly with large groups

I'v been using the bottles for years in condos, sneaking in a picnic bottle sometimes if necessary (the Mrs. loved it). We split up a year ago and I bought a condo that had an "induction" cooker...my God...it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Moved again recently...threw out the cooker and bought another induction...they are "Brill".

What brand/ model do you recommend and how are they for using Aluminium non stick pots?

I do actually know a lady who has lots of bikes for rent and for a long time now, No License No Bike simple as that and really they should have the International driving permit

Agree 100% with the requirement of having an IDP.

I have the endorsement for riding a motorcycle on my UK driving licence, however I'm fairly sure there wouldn't be many people involved in the tourist motorbike rental places that could decipher the codes shown on the UK licence. Whereas the Thai licence is very clear as it shows the picture of the motorbike or the car.

Sorry no offense or are you old ?

If you are less than 60 years old there is NO WAY That a dog comes from nowhere and bites you.

I walk a chihuahua everywhere and trust me, no dog will ever come from nowhere and bite anyone.

When it happens, people are always guilty of not looking or just being scared. As easy as this. Change your attitude and it won't happen again.

    Wish you the best.

Yes we know dogs don't just appear from nowhere, that is unless the magic fairy is at work, but I can confirm that the dog that bit me caught up with me whilst I was running along the side of a busy highway and the noise of the traffic masked the sound of his approach. First and hopefully the last time for me to be bitten by a dog in 18+ years of living and doing outdoor activities in Thailand.

That is why I got my pre-exposure Rabies vaccination shots.

If bitten, I only need two more vaccine shots, and don’t need the possibly very expensive and sometimes hard to find HRIG shot. (Human Rabies Immune Globlulin)

If you have not had your pre-exposure Rabies vaccine shots, you MUST get four or five vaccine shots, and you MUST also have the HRIG shot. HRIG can be very hard to find in some regions, and can be very very expensive.

Recently bitten by a dog at the roadside whilst out running. I went to the nearest place to ask about the owner, but of course they saw the blood running down my leg from the wound and the result is that nobody knows the dog or its owner..

Having had the HRIG shot and the first 4 Verorab shots before leaving for my summer vacation, I had to wait 6 weeks until I was back in Thailand before I could get my fifth and last shot as it wasn't readily available where I was in the UK, fortunately the hospital had advised me that the 5th shot was only s booster so I was okay to delay having it.

  8. I can't say what the current situation is,  however previously I have renewed the tax with speeding camera tickets still outstanding and there was never an issue, nor request to pay outstanding fines.

It used to be a chore to go and find parking at the Post Office to pay these fines, however being able to make the payment at a bank makes it so much more convenient.

I am 100% up to date with payment of all my previous speeding tickets as a friend had advised me that when the Generals are in charge they can make a phone call and all these hurdles about cross checking between Police issued tickets and the DLT can be gone and there could be an issue with things like annual car tax renewal.

For an idea of how far along things have come in recent years, take for instance the annual vehicle inspection, which is required after the vehicle reaches 8 years old, the QR code on the test certificate will take you to the DLT website giving all details of the test result. Data like braking percentage shown against each wheel, CO2 emissions result, mileage and even a photo of the car being emissions tested. That is more advanced than the UK which is considered pretty strict.

So can they suddenly link the unpaid ticket to your tax renewal I'm thinking that's a strong possibly, even if not today it's coming soon

Yes it could have been explained far better by the government as there are still people who think its about he rice program while it was not. It was all about the fraud inside the program and the top ministers being involved in it.

Now its being touted as an unfair ruling about the rice program while it was not about the price guarantee (one that I think was bad too I don't believe in them not in these or in those of the current government)

Having just read an article on a MTIC VAT fraud case in the UK and seen the chart that Wikipedia use to explain it's basic workings, the attachment by Dutch State give a good simple explanation. So easy to replicate this to reflect the Rice Fraud

Its not about the price fixing.. its about the fake G2G deals connected to the rice program. The one that made them sell rice to China (that was never exported) at a low price and then be sold at a high price back into the system. Making a lot of money for the crooks involved.

That does not mean I am against price fixing and hope that the current MOB does some time on corruption if they can find cases.

    Good post!

I think the government could and should have done a much better job of explaining to the Thai people, what the actual scam was. It would behove the current government and indeed any future government, to put together a very simple to understand one page chart, perhaps even in cartoon format, to catch the attention and allow everyone to understand fully what the fraud was and the scale of financial damages actually done to the country.

Well...that appeals verdict should lighten the courts appeal cases...go to court to appeal a judgement and get additional time...can't make this stuff up!...LOL (Land of Laughs)

He had no option but to appeal the earlier sentence.  If he didn't appeal and the prosecution had appealed for an additional 40 years, he'd end up with the additional 40 years. If the prosecution didn't appeal and he did, then he could have had his initial sentence reduced to zero or time already served.

Win win scenario for the lawyers.

honestly man i dont really count what I spend.

Like I said, most weekends I dont set myself a limit.

However Phuket in general has defintiely become more expensive over the last few years.

Pretty much everything has gone up, food, drink, rent etc.

I dont like to travel far when I need a quick fix for food so I pay the 50 baht.

One thing I've noticed that has gone down in price is the cost of a new benz. I've one that I bought back in 2004 for just under 4m, but today it's just over 3m, fortunately for me when I was transferring the funds in Stg the fx rate was £1= Thb 70 but today it's about half that.
