1 minute ago, Metapod said:Exchange rate is bad, costs are going up, visas are getting a lot harder to get, and more competitive alternatives are arising.
it isn't really surprising stuff. Thailand ain't that cheap anymore. Aussie dollar is like 21.7 thb these days. A lot of things are cheaper back in Aus now,
ANZ bank this morning offering 20.9 baht for your hard earned dollars.
You may as well just toss your money over the counter and go home.
PI's and Vietnam with weak currencies are going after the Aussie market as well as new direct destination sri Lanka. Throw cheap Bali into the mix and others and Thailand is in trouble.

Thai gov stats are a waste of time.
Various international organisations that collect data put Thailand's roadtoll at 40 per 100,000.
That's almost 30000 deaths per annum.
Thai junta response ? Nothing.

You explained in your thread why you got evicted at Mr Don airport.
You can't fly in and out on 30 day stamps without eventually being stopped.
I lived here for years on 30_day visa runs same as 10,000's of foreigners.
Those days are over.
Also avoid female officers. A male officer might have let you in with a polite warning.
Pattaya sex tourists aren't flavour of the month with females.

A middle aged white guy and allegedly wealthy.
That will definitely motivate the cops into hunting him down.
His g/f looks spooky. Not sure I'd want to wake up next to her in the morning.
If were him i'd go Pat Malone.

Richard smith237 summed it up well enough.
I will add he must fly back to UK with THAI no other airline acceptable. You will have to pay THAI airfare quoted plus a fine which could be 12000 baht or 20000. Depends a lot on your sons conduct.
The sooner you send the money the sooner he leaves.

Even many years ago when visa runs were standard practice I always tried to get a male officer. I don't like women in uniform because power goes to their brain. Thai men don't want confrontations with farang if it can be avoided.Bad karma.

Qantas Boeing 747 Stranded At Suvarnabhumi After Mid-Air Engine Shut Down

QANTAS has been the worlds safest airline for decades and will likely continue so.
If this incident happened on another carrier it probably won't of been reported or pop up on the media grid.
The media and flying public loves sticking it to QF.
Any issue with QF is newsworthy.
If it happened to Aeroflot ,Air India or Boganair the media wouldn't give a toss.
