Have just done my 2nd year marriage extension, last year 6 trips to immigration this year 4 trips 3 in one day 1st visit to ask what information required, 2nd trip with all the information asked for. Finished all complete stamp in my passport under consideration. 2 hrs later almost home a phone call from immigration she needed more information, letter from the bank and copy of my bank book.
ok got from the bank 45 min drive back to immigration ok happy now all information complete Again. Got into the car another call from immigration come back to the office, why does my bank book not show all transactions through the year. Explained I only got book updated when I come and see you, statements show all transactions. Ok she said enough.
also I have done the two years showing the over 40,000 baht per month method from my U.K. pension.
They keep asking for more information above what is required, they make it up as they go along.

As a person who has stayed here in Thailand for 8 years I’m making an offer to any family who are stuck in Thailand and can’t get home and are with little or no funds a room at my house until they can get home. Could I ask also other expats to make a similar offer in this time of need. I live in the Rayong area of Thailand, anyone who needs the offer is on a first come first served basis.

Why is it such bad news of IO doing what they are paid to do, this happens on a daily basis in every country around the world why should it be different here. Good news in my mind good people in bad people out.

Immigration doing the job they are paid to do, in the UK there are many raids on homes and businesses to find illegal workers overstayers every day. Follow the rules and you will be ok. Thailand is not a police state, they are doing what they need to do, It’s their Country deporting people who are overstayers what’s wrong with that. Rules are Rules in any country.

Surely it would be common sense to wait and see the new list of rules/regs before commenting/jumping to conclusions??
Ps..I'm a happily married man living in the Issan Province and have not encountered any " farang haters ".!!!

The only Farang haters I've encountered living in Thailand for 7 years now are Farang from here in Thailand and most from Thai Visa, I dared to make a suggestion on the Retirement visa and wow many comments received not all bad but from the Elite ( Farang not Thai )people who are above every one else here with their opinion of people struggling with the visa issue go home, get a job etc etc, My wife (Thai ) said Thai people don't care where the 20 baht comes from it's only Farang complaining about other Farang.
So yes I am Retired and living the dream.
follow the rules for a stress free life.
Rant over.

What a carry on people leaving in hordes victimisation feeling not wanted here,
the UK authorities should do more of this, I for one except the rules of Thailand, it's their country. Live by the rules a happy life follows.
Cheat the system and pay the price Bad people out good people stay.
Have a great day.

How is it fraud , OP brings the required amount into Thailand ,
what he does with that money is up to him .
A far better option than having a dodgy illegal extension , using so called visa agents .
Using an Agent now is not a good route, if immigration ask to see your funds what do you do, Panic, if they ask to see my book using this method they see 65,000 per month no problem.? I have to add I am doing the Marriage visa route as I have 45,000 into my account every month, this was a suggestion to help others, as many people have said I am not doing anything Illegal I am doing what is required as can many other people, the main reason why i suggested it was for us people who cant afford to have 400,000 Baht sat in a bank doing nothing here, this a way of getting what you want LEGALLY. It if Far Far more legal than using an agent. On the question of Income, as long as you transfer 65,000 per month from overseas they don't care how you got it some people say it has to be a pension, why, what about the people who rent their houses as income are you telling me these people will be excluded.
A good video to watch is Kev in Thailand there is a place in Thailand for Cheap Charlies. Or do the Elite who stay here want Thailand all to themselves.
Thank you all for your reply's.

I read with delight the reply' on this post, I have complied with the rules enforced, what I need to show and what I need to live on are two different things, yes their would be costs involved with this method, show me a way where you have no costs, we all have to live with the necessary evil of bank transfers Agents, you now run the risk of inspection of your bank account, how would you explain that? Thailand does not do Free.
i love this country its rules regulations, Thailand will always belong to Thailand. The U.K. Belongs to every other country but England, The USA is owned by China, Russia. We all come here for a better life, I have got that here dispite the new imposed rules, My glass is always half full.

Thanks for your Comment, I have lived here in Thailand 6 years now, I have not broken any rules i have complied with every request the Immigration requires over this 6 year period. Circumstances have changed, my Embassy stooped verifying my income from the UK My income was over 800,000 per year, its up to me how much I need to live on so I only drew 45,000 Baht per month.
But now my situation is that I need to show 65,000 per month as do many others, my way does not break any rules, its not cheating the system, i'm not going via an agent it complies with what they require. I have decided to go the Marriage visa way, a much harder way than my Retirement visa because I comply with what they want an income of 44,000 Baht per month. I was told i needed to show this every month.
The Immigration have been more than fair with me I asked what they needed and still they turned me down, giving me another 60 days to get what I needed. which is a reasonable amount of time to achieve this.
Follow the rules of this Country it's their Country not yours.

My Friend who had two payment within the year totaling 975,000 was told they needed to see 65,000 per month to obtain the extension.
I am not trying to do something wrong here, I have complied with the regulations already laid down, I do not need 65,000 per month so why put it into a Thai bank.
Thank you for your comments.

Well done, I took everything that my 6 visits to immigration last year was required only to be told more information required, armed with this new information returned, shocked to be told ok after a bit of gentle persuasion from my wife. Under consideration stamped in my passport happy days. 2 hrs later as we were nearly home, Immigration need more information copies of my bank book and another letter from the bank, ok we said, went to the bank got the information 1 hr drive back to immigration ok she said enough now. Got into the car just set off for home a call from immigration back to the car park and into the office, explain why your bank book does not show all transactions, I only update when I come here and not all transactions are recorded, that’s why you ask for the statements for 12 months I replied, ok next year I want to see all transactions in your book so get more updates ok I said and away we went. See you in a months time. 3 visits in one day.
