  1. I felt that there is still much animosity towards Americans(USA).

I visited HCMC last year. Did not have any problems with rip offs.

Food at the Street food market is fantastic. Stayed there 3 days. US citizens are required  to get a visa to enter Vietnam.  Most European countries are not required to get a visa to visit there. So the government changed it's thinking about the US fighting there.

Is there anything I can do about the way he was treated at the airport by immigration, reference 7K Cad.

Posting the incident on social media and western media will probably be effective. Reporting the incident, even names to Thai immigration will probably not appease you at all, that if you get a reply from Thai IM.  Again losing face comes into play and Thai people accepts this kind of behavior. I had different experience at check-in at the airport for flight out of country. for sake of time, and i will not go into details.  After I returned to Thailand several days later.  I how badly I felt because of the way i was treated, which she noticed. I said I was going to report it to the airline company.  She told me it was going to be a waste of time and I would not get a reply.  She was right...three yeast has passed, no reply or response whatsoever for the company.  Some of you here may have had a more positive experience, but it is a way of life here.  Do you think most people in Thailand are concerned about the situation with the Redbull Airest, Yingluck, of Taksin?  No, they would prefer to go on to another subject, when mentioned.

    Good luck

  3. Mango Bob,

I have Tricare for Life also, plus medicare insurance and a Federal Employee Health Benefit Plan through Aetna.  1. Have you or anyone else here, submitted claims to Tricare?

               2. since I have medicare insurance, parts A and B, can this be used as insurance for Non A-O visa                     requirements?

               3. Do you or anyone else here know if my FEHB plan with Aetna, can be transferred to

                   Aetna Insurance.Thailand?

Thanks in advance for any information you may have on this matter

  4. In my opinion, Koh Chang is a better chance than Koh Samet. Been to both. Not much to do in Koh Samet. Check out cottages for rent in Koh Samet..  You can walk around to several beaches that are not crowded. Wherever, enjoy and make the best of your get away.

  5. I have been to Bang Saen several times to celebrate with students during the graduation at Burapa University there.  It is one of the oldest beaches in Thailand and is the place where Thai's went for weekend  get aways.  See, I remember the place from the sixties and as of 2018. At the graduation celebration, I had the most fun ever in Thailand.  Let's not be so high and mighty.  Enjoy life and don't be so hung up on yourself, Cyril Sneer

  6. Guys, I have question also.  I had an O-A multiple entry that expired 7 June 2019. I entered Thailand in December of 2019. Departed on March 26, 2019.  Got a re-entry permit before leaving 26 March 2019 with permission to stay until 11 December 2019. I returned to Thailand in August 2019, but did not get an re-entry permit before I left in September.

I plan to return to Thailand the first week of December 2019 before the 11th.

Will I have a problem since I did not get re-entry, even though the permission to stay was until 11 December 2019.  Do I have any options>  Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

  7. Thank you very much Nailsbrains8 for the suggestion of flying from a not far away country.  I will do that because I have a O-A visa, multiple entry. I got a reentry permit that extended my permission to stay until 11 Dec 2019 when I left in March 2019.  My O-A expiration date was June 5, 2019.  I returned to Thailand in August of 2019, but did not get a reentry permit when I left in September 2019.  Upon arrival in August, my passport was stamped with permission to stay until 11 December. Since I did not get a reentry permit before in August, will I have a problem if I return by 11 December 2019?  Thanks for any advice.

  8. Danthai,  You mentioned that you show the IMO a copy of letter from Tricare.  That is good news to me because I did not realize that Tricare coverage applies abroad.  I have Tricare for Life, coupled with Federal employee benefit (FEHB), as well as comprehensive health care plan, through Cigna Health Spring. I had no idea that Tricare would be appropriate for health insurance coverage.  Thanks for mentioning it in your post.
