In aviation, a successful landing is said to depend upon "airspeed, airspeed, airspeed".

Similarly, a new restaurant initially depends upon "location, location, location".

As my brilliant Thai wife frequently points out, "If you produce good quality food, eventually you will have to struggle to keep up with the customers lined up at your door but it takes time to establish your reputation." She watches for the really crowded Thai restaurants and makes her always successful choices of new restaurants to try based pretty much on that alone. Allow me to mention that she has vast experience and creates the best Thai cuisine that I have ever had, right here in our own home.

New restaurants seeking to attract foreigners must go with location since most farangs in Thailand are not "locals" and will simply not find you while driving/riding around town.

"Somewhere between Big Bike corner and the old Mike's Hamburgers" just ain't gonna do it for visitors and I would suspect that this place will not be in business much longer.

I will however, try to get my butt down there soon simply because I very much enjoy/miss quality Mexican food.

That's a good point, and when you think of the last 4 or 5 places that have been there, none have lasted more than a year or two.. Will that luck hold for Miguels?

I have been to Miguels 5 times, not bad, but Salsa Kitchen still is the best mexican food in town !!

  2. I've seen this as well in different cities but can't remember the name for it. It's a ritual of some kind and the times I've seem them they have been carrying fireworks.

They approach shopkeepers and ask for money to rid the ghosts in the shops.

I was drinking last nite with about 50 of them, each year they go to diffrent country.

Hash House some thing, to drunk to remmember full name of group, they raise money for

    local charity.

Isn't Peace Blondie a gal - female avatar, boyfriend?

Bashing all powerful Super-Moderators doesn't say a lot about your judgement either.

    You're kidding right?

Welcome Back PB,you have been very helpful to alot of our questions !

  12. Yeach, check out Aden. The owners were my host parents and Tom not only carries a great amount of product, but knew great uses for them as well.

Aden shop, is that next to Mikes burgers on Nemminheman?

  13. For some of the other TV posters, I did mention that she needed to get in corn bread.......

I also intimated she could do a dynamite breakfast business with bisquits and gravey (Southern Style) for all you Non-USA foreigners that is with Jimmy Dean Spicy Sausage (I am giving her the recipt for the sausage)

Latife's wife seems quite clever and industrious, but please mention this to him as well. Being Thai, she might not know what foods you are refering to!

He mentioned that he was thinking of doing a Southern breakfast and I'm sure that suggestions are welcome! :o

I Had lunch there yesterday, based on your recommendations and was very disapointed. I ordered the rib dinner, and the amount of meat on the two inch ribs were miniscule compared to some place like Dukes. Where the portions are very generous for almost the same money. Your right the baked beans were good, but that alone will not warrent a second visit. My friend ordered the chicken and said it was ok. The owners wife was pleasant and did come over several times times ask if things were ok. It did take a while for her to get our orders straight. I wish I could say it was great value, which is one of the things I look for, but sadly, I don't think this place will make it as the location is poor and the food was just so so. Hope I'm wrong, as the people seemed nice.

I ate their today, very good food, great price and service.

Meet owner and his wife nice people, great pool table next door at Caribbean place. All of the other

restaurants around his, have made it okay. Problem is you can"t please every one !

  14. Anyone know where you can find witch hazel, in Chiang Mai?

I have half a bottle left, going back to states in one month, would like to find it here.

Witch Hazel is a astringent, very helpful for minor skin irritations, and brusing.
