The propaganda is strong on this one.
All of my Thai friends who don’t work in the tourist industry don’t want them to open up. They like the peace and quiet of not having foreigners everywhere and clogged traffic due to Tuk-Tuks, your busses and red trucks.

It’s cute they think the locals could make better decisions when they don’t know what’s going on with COVID and only want one thing, to have tourists come back at all costs. Short sighted thinking is why we’re dealing with the current outbreak here and why they have been dealing with it for a year elsewhere.

If they would pay tax their work would not be so lucrative anymore.
They may not be interested.
If you knew anything you would realize the foolishness of your comment. Digital Nomads generate income that comes with a digital paper trail.
Getting paid to your bank account, PayPal, Wise, etc. forces us into the radar.
Instead, we apply tax strategies that massively reduce our tax obligations in addition to the tax discount a lot of us get from being out of our home countries.
For example, those of us making good money from the states get our first $106k (always rising) federal tax free. That means, if we make $150-$200k or more (Before you waste your thumb energy with a snide remark a lot of us make that kind of money) and live off of the overflow and stay out of our home country for 10 years we get to put an extra million plus into retirement over that time. That doesn’t include compounding interest. So, I think we’ll be fine and for those of us who are taking that approach we are indeed interested. The only real issue is the out dated educational requirements since education isn’t reflected in income or abilities in modern times.

Degree required...what a dated requirement. It shows how backwards these policy makers are. I’m not foolish enough to put $500k into Thai government bonds but I’m the highest earner out of my international friend group of very successful people. However, I never went to college. Looks like I’ll be sticking to Elite after my current visa expires in 16 years.

As an American, I’m not pleading for anything. I know the US only wants our tax dollars with giving us anything in return. (Also known as a scam or robbery)

Just register all foreigners automatically.
Why does this have to be complicated?
With TM.30, TM.47, TM.7 they know who we are, our email and phone number, our gender, how old we are and where we live.
But no, we've got to go queue somewhere and fill out more paperwork. Now there will be a gazillion separate smokestacks of data scattered about the country.
The focus on registrations is INSANE. Focus on getting the vaccine(s).
This way buys them a little more time since you’ll be notified when it’s your turn. -
It takes a certain kind of person to leave your own country to end up a tourist cop.

Shareholders. That’s why.

I would like to to know the correlation between covid and alcohol sales
Nightlife and daytime bar life usually results in people making bad decisions and being in close proximity. When bars are closed for drinking and the alcoholics drink at home they are more prone to domestic violence. (Possibly why they go to the bar in the first place.)
This doesn’t apply to everyone of course but the bad apples cause everyone else to get restricted.

I agree this guy is douche although for this story to make the National news to me is just sad on behalf of this news channel. It’s just a way to try to blame the westerners again. Is there no other more worthy news about real crooks?
How about news story’s about where the virus originated from?
Pathetic.
They do have some news on real crooks. A white foreigner murdered his Thai wife and child up north. Does that fit your criteria? Or should we pretend that’s an attack on westerners?- 2

I guarantee words like “plandemic” “sheep” “fake news” etc. are part of this guys vocabulary. I also guarantee he thinks he’s smarter than doctors and people who study the virus.
He should be deported since he’s a threat to the safety and well being of Thais and foreigners.

I can imagine Pattaya is filled with anti-masking conspiracy theory types who might think they are “sheep” if they wear a mask. ????

Sure would like to see what data that 'severe' and 'complicated' is based, on as it flies in the face of just about every country's data and that from the WHO. And without pre-existing conditions, a micro % of deaths
It doesn’t say they are dying. It says they are getting infected and can have severe symptoms. -

The question was not about my wife, per se. I was asking if it is a thai culrural practice to shower and clean ones body immediately after having sex? And I ask because for three years this was not the norm.
So far no one has addressed the question, only the actions leading up to the question.
Been here 15 years and I’ve dated a lot of Thai girls/women. It’s not common practice. The only time it’s happened is if they have a boyfriend or husband. And usually in that case we were also in their condo or house so they wanted everything to be clean, including us, just in case.

Remote work is going to make travel a possibility for some. However, the people going to Pattaya are going to be disappointed when they arrive since the usual offerings are extremely limited.

Run the same poll in non tourist areas and you’ll get widely different results. This is simply to push the social proof thought of “others” thinking the other way as a majority.
-
Let’s also look at the foreign men bringing it to the Thai women. It goes both ways.

I can't think of any countries for which travel to Thailand is a priority worth a even a 10 minute phone call right now.
China. Any opening up that will be prematurely rushed is to get the Chinese back here. It has nothing to do with western countries. They NEED that Chinese money right now.

They gave them a heads up so they can leave, which is good for them. However, all of those workers are now driving to different places in the country, stopping for gas, going into 711, stopping to eat, etc. it will be interesting to see if this move ends up causing a bigger national spread.
