Well we aren't in the USA. I prefer to use a Thai one in Thailand. Thai credit cards are not as easy, but there is a definite spell of a few weeks before a debt is pulled from my savings account. (Not really a credit card!). It might work to cover a short hospital visit and the bill, and prevent the need of reducing on the 400/800k obligation.

You probably should separate the credit card from the 400/800k account.

If your card is ever skimmed, the thief will take some or all of your 400/800k, and then you also have a problem with immigration.

If the account is not used as in my situation and I get it updated nothing shows unless I make a point of making a small deposit

    Maybe I should do that

If you deposit 100 baht just before you want your print out, it should trigger the printing of recent transactions, which is the the 100 baht you just deposited, and the closing balance, which will of course have the date.

I have changed my mind and I am thinking of going without a Visa. I don't see what difference a visa will make when I am only going for a week and any IO can turn his nose up at anytime. Is this a bad ideal? I simply won't have time when I find out I'm completing it will be a mad rush to book flights, work, pack, find a storage place, move out,do the garden and 100 other things. I won't have time to go to London to get a Visa even if I live in London.

Is this a stupid idea will they send me on a flight home which will mess up my second trip now Nepal not India.

Maybe you should fly via Kuala Lumpur.  That way, if you are denied, you are sent back to Kuala Lumpur and can least continue on with some holiday plans.

I have decided to do the 800k deposit method this year, and avoid a visa run. The funds are on the way.

I will continue to transfer the 65k a month as well. I spend more than that here monthly anyway. This will allow me to switch to the income method next year. After three months, I can do what I wish with the 800k.

You can't use any of the 800k for 5 months and you can't go under a 400k balance for as long as you want next year's visa.

A lot of people have been recycling money to themselves on a monthly basis.  I believe it's illegal, but hard to be caught out and proved.

No real difference loaning or sharing a lump sum between friends.

I heard some offices are asking for proof of income as well as the 65k+ monthly into a thai bank account

How are people proving their income to them?

But who do they believe it will confound.

That group of 3 pals moving 800k between each of their accounts after a 3 month stay?

We have pooled some money for this.  Currently seasoning money for the first guy to go through, and he is due soon, and then two other guys will follow.

We discussed bouncing around 65k, but went for the shared 400k.

In time, all out renewals will line up perfectly, with some small time for travel, or a visit to families in our home countries.

It probably could work, re the 400k, on the day 400k gets transferred out another 400k gets transferred in = balance stays at 400k. Need to work out the process flows and timing, may need more people, but could be done.

I also think a communal insurance fund for expats would work, not for profit just to cover costs of claims and staff

With the lead time and then 3 months after, totalling 5- 6 months, 1 pot could in theory serve two people if they got the timing right. BUT only 2 people. (in my understanding)

I was thinking you could squeeze 3 people into the fund, if each of the 3 were prepared to have a small holiday outside of Thailand each year, or come back on a visa exempt stamp.

  9. Can some trusted friends deposit money into a mutual fund that totals 800k and then move the 800k between the member's bank accounts, at the right time, as they need to show the 800k in their account for their visa applications?

Do the same as the agents, but do it ourselves.

    Possible?
