We're back in Thailand after you know what. It's good to be back. Arrangements for internet have changed at the apartment we borrow, meaning we will be dependent on cellular internet. In the past we used the local (landline style) internet, with a VPN connected access point/router plugged in to the internet router, to provide an "always on" UK IP address, which is handy for lots of things. We'd like to replicate that arrangement using cellular. Current tethering experiences from our DTac connected phones have us constantly dropping offline. Needless to say, it's frustrating! So, we'd like to have a "dedicated" 4/5G sim card for at internet in the apartment, with the VPN router attached. That 4/5G router must have an ethernet port to connect the VPN router. If you haven't fallen asleep yet, where do you suggest to buy such a thing? Our nearest, very good little computer shop seems to be closed at present. Had we known before leaving UK, we'd have come prepared. Many thanks!

No problem, MistyBlue - We come here for help and for those with knowledge to help others. I have my way forward I think, and have started the visa application process. As others have said, the e-visa website is clunky and not at all intuitive, so if you go down that route, I suggest a cup of tea and yoga to get through it! ????

I've been to the Consulate twice and for other reasons several times. It wouldn't be my top choice to live there, but I'm also sure there are worse places. Gib sounds a bit like the gift shop in Guadeloupe where effectively you do your own visa and the gift shop owner just stamps your passport.

But, when I "View Detail" I can't see the element that applies to us, and therefor the documentation we must supply? (I see what you mean about a day out in Hull,............................ except it has closed permanently? <sigh> )

I can't find any reference to a non O retirement visa on the official website, and whilst Tourist Visas are valid for 3 or 6 months, they only allow entry for 60 days? Bewildered of Back of Beyond

As. OK. I'll get looking into that. Neither of us a fretful travellers, but would prefer to be able to settle once we arrive without the need to go through extensions and so on. I think it'll be getting onto the website and go for it. We have very much missed our Thai/Asian winters, so looking forward to some sun on our bones. Thanks again

@DrJack54 - You mention the Non O Retirement visa, for 90 days. Can that be achieved on entry to Thailand, so does it involve a trip to an Embassy? So, 45 days, visa exempt, then extend. Is that extension automatically granted? Obviously, our plan would be to book flights for the length of stay we would prefer. Would there be an issue travelling in on a ticket with the return leg on a date later than the visa exempt status would allow? The Embassy trips are OK, but if not required, why would anyone? That said, I think deportation is less palatable than a schlep to the Thai Consulate at Hull.

Hi there. I am a Brit, of retirement age, travelling with my partner, also retired. We would like to travel from UK to Thailand, to stay, for a holiday, around 90 days. In the past, we have visited the Thai Embassy in Hull to secure the relevant visas, before travel, but it has been suggested this is no longer necessary, and can be done on travel? Obviously that would be fantastic, but seems rather good to be true. What are our options these days?
