it's good to see that the overwhelming opinion of the contributors here is against the junta, but there are some practical things foreigners can do to help (the old 'don't get involved' is a great line for novices), for example, you can encourage thai friends take up memberships with the future forward party, it's 200thb a year and the benefits are impressive, free stuff, participation in mass online votes, future forward shirts and bags and hats are available, i've got heaps myself, wear them around Big C, 9/10 ten onlookers will give you a smile, just saying

the core problems of inequality and censorship remain

quite a few years involved in politics myself, i've never seen such a clear cut case of one man willing to sacrifice everything for not only democracy, but freedom of speech and equality, thoroughly impressed, i would love to see the expat community (whereever they may be located) to get behind this movement, we all know inequality is an ugly beast in thailand, and it's now time to set things straight - go thanathorn

how can people stand by and listen/see/take this kind of bs, thanathorn is the strongest advocate for freedom of speech and democracy that this country has probably ever seen
the dark forces of thai politics (those against thanathorn) truly are evil

The recording has gone missing. Just like when Justine Damond got shot in America, and the police body cameras were turned off.
Perhaps it is time to amend the law so that when a recording that should be available goes missing, it's a de facto admission of guilt.
totally agree, if only the legislature/judiciary had a shred of integrity

let's be honest, the bhumjaithai party doesn't give a damn about thc, first time in my life, i'm against the pro-weed crew, but seriously, this guy has a chance to push for real democracy but instead he's acting like a hooker not sure which sugar daddy to visit (with all due respect)

very interesting set of circumstances from an ethical point of view, the pro-democracy groups should do anything to get the army out, after that, it would theoretically be easier for a more popular leader (thanathorn, sudarat) to have a legitimate claim to top job

what an absolute disgrace, how could it be possible for different proportions to be applied to different parties?

i'll admit i'm biased, but I really struggle to see how most of the charges are as serious as they are making out, the exim bank is supposed to loan money so neighbouring countries can but thai goods and services
conflict of interest? possibly, but it's also very possible that the conflict of interest was acknowledged, disclosed, etc

100% was thinking the same thing (and how about the other millions of crimes that occur on a daily basis from trivial to serious) but for some reason helping some students escape needs an army court

i've been to a number of thanathorn's speeches, his party's platform (agenda) is basic
1. real democracy
2. equality
3. limit army involvement in politics
that's it
if you ask me it's what thailand has badly needed for a long time with (all due respect)

i think you have to be actually imprisoned before being banned as an MP. This is only the first step. There are three courts before he could actually be sent down. That should take years.
this should the case (in a sane location) but unfortunately, i'd say anything is possible - the court decisions here have been absolutely shocking for as long as I've known (approx. 20 years)

But entirely expected. More fool the major parties for participating in this sham in the first place.
seen thanathorn in person a number of times now, the guy is solid, really inspirational
I've been here 18 years, and "inequality" has to be the major social issue,
the powers that be have a real problem with seeing all people as equal

The BJT is one of the most corrupt parties, and real mercenary. So it remains to be seen if the PTP can make a coalition. I for one would not mind a coalition like that but it would not be stable. FFW does not like corruption that much so it might break away (or risk losing its voters) if it gets too bad.
I would like to hope FFW keeps the goverment a bit more honest, plus if they are more honest there is less chance of the junta using it against them. A coalition like this would be good as it seriously weakens the power of the PTP compared to when they had more votes. This mean no stupid stunts like bringing Thaksin back or other things that are highly controversial as now there are more parties that can voice their objections. So in a way this is a good thing.
I would certainly prefer a coalition like this over a junta coalition.
BJT are a disgrace, how can a party stand with no principles (i.e. we'll support whoever's supporting us), their whole platform is patronage (i.e. mates of mates), the weed and grab concepts were shams to say the least (I support both but belated stolen and misleading ideas from BJT)

i don't think the noun "decision-making" is appropriate for the activities of the judiciary (the courts)
maybe ""reason-fabrication" might be betteror "lie-generation"
or maybe a euphemism, "content development"

lol, bringing thaksin back? at this time? i don't see how that fits in with the landowners' plans of maintaining undemocratic control here

Trump says it's up to China to deal with Hong Kong 'riots'

i think this is more about strategy for trump, and also to offset claims that 'foreigners' are involved, that aside, it's patently obvious that hong kongers do not want this new law, it makes me sick to see the lack of support they have - i stand with hong kong
