In the period of 1st to 12th July 2,117 arrests were made of illegal immigrants (883) people on overstay (28), workers without work permits (44), those wanted on warrants (13) and 927 other unspecified violations.

So what i am reading is BJ lied when he said all overstays and Illegals were rounded up.

This means that 2117 people (and more) have snuck in since that statement !!!!!. Must

be something wrong with immagration points. OMG i hope no officials are taking bribes.

‘There are hopes that Asian and Australian travellers will take up some of the slack in July and August. But that is all they are, hopes. Most people are expecting July to be just as bad as June.”

Exact, the only thing they have got right "Hope". Because thats all they will

get from Aussies, Hope. With 20Bht for 1Aud, then you have to endure being treated like

crap from smiling thais, all the rip offs, scams, prices etc etc, we all know, its all on

other posts time and time again, thailand have put too many nails in

the tourist coffin lid, now its time to bury the coffin and thailand tourism

    with it.

At least Indians like the ladies and like a drink  ... that is 5 men like 1 lady and 5 guys like 1 bottle of whiskey and buy their own water dont forget the free pool games and look for free.. enjoy what you wish for Thailand

Looks like the chinese have got the arse, TAT dont even mention them

anymore, so they bring over 200 odd indians, take them to walking street,

parade them like they are gods and bingo, tourism will be fixed. Next i wonder

if india will get orders for submarines and fast trains, (little do TAT know that

indians are tighter than a fishes <deleted> with their money, worse than the

    chinese).

myself i wonder if i could sneak a word to the constitutional Kangaroos on a decision hahaha.

Everyone laughs at me but I have been saying this for years.

I ALWAYS dress like I am going to a very important business meeting when I go to immigration or the bank or any Thai government location.

And it does make a very big difference. Dressing like a slob sends a message that you are disrespecting the Thai people.

Incredible that I still see farangs wearing shorts and tee shirts to immigration and especially to the bank to open accounts.

Very sensible post, most countries ask for respectable dress code for certain areas, its just common sense and being courteous, actual a retired friend who has resided in thailand for around 6 years now makes me dress in good casual when we go bar hopping, nice shorts, short sleeve shirt or casual top and decent sandels, not flip flops, and it does work as the girls love it when a guy dresses decent, ive even scored without paying a bar fine and hourly rate, she was happy to go for a meal and back for sex no cost. now we are good friends and she stays when i visit,

I was in a large shopping centre the other day and on the top floor was a section near the escalators with about twenty of these machines and just one middle aged woman playing. I went inside a large shop for about ten minutes and when I came out she was still there. I wandered around for twenty minutes and afterwards went to the escalators to go back down and she was still feeding money into the same machine exactly like a slot machine addict. If I didn't win something after three goes I'd give up and walk away but some people just have to keep going, so even at ten baht a play I can see some people managing to lose a fair bit of money

For once i dont have a problem with the big man banning these machines, they are rigged and a menace for families with kids, they put them where they know kids and families will be, In australia they are proved to be rigged and there is also a move to have them banned, they did a test on one and the jaws didnt pick a toy up and hold it after 30 tries, and in australia at $2 a drop, that was $60 to try and score a $1 stuffed toy. (so thats 1,380bht to try and get a 23bht toy.) outright robbery.

What a disgusting piece of,  should have been charged with assault and slapping a young defenseless girl.  The guy is pure vomit.  What is it with thais who have a few baht and think they are superior

probably best they accepted the bribe, we know what happens when rich people

get charged or should i say get reported to the BIB, absolutely sweet f..k all.

Scary, especially if you rely on eating out or takeaways, I'm guessing many vendors might be less than thorough on the washing front, and a lot of the food here is stir fried which probably removes little or nothing in the way of contaminants. Like RobboR I tend to cook at home, so I'm hopeful that washing, and boiling veg in salted water, get's rid of most of the crap, as for fruit, most of it is peelable, just have to wash things I eat unpeeled and raw - apples, tomatoes, grapes, etc. - extra thoroughly, I suppose.

Peelable or not, it does not matter as the chemicals are sprayed on the plant as well

as the actual fruit and vegetable, so the chemical is then induced into the product thru the the actual plant, poisening the product, so what im saying is the chemical is already inside the fruit or veggy, whether it has a peelable skin or not.
