Pattaya: Work to beautify Jomtien by removing excess cables
law ling replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
... they could start by moving on all the stray dogs. -
I heard that Cetus is presently unliveable: it's next door is a late night bar with music and bass beats vibrating the whole building - even upper floors - making sleep very difficult until they close. Prior to the bar starting up, it had a dozen or more soi dogs barking and fighting all night - again with the noise even reaching upper floors - but they went on all night.

The "veil of secrecy" on how the police deal with drugs was lifted recently in the Joe Ferrari case: the "dealer" was apparently willing to pay B1 mill for release, then the police upped it to B2 mill (then the plastic bag thing went overboard ... and end of story). So, on the PM's say so, such a lucrative business will now end?

Thais Urged to Unite for the Greater Good of the Nation
law ling replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I think you're right. Marcos Jnr. recently won in the Phillippines on little more than just promising "unity" (whatever that is, and however that is measured). -
It was reported by Pattaya News (some time ago) that most nationalities do NOT give permission for the details of the robberies to be reported and published - but that Indians DO give permission for publication of details and photos. So, the inference may be that it does happen to other nationalities, but is not reported in the news.

A sickening attack - but sadly not uncommon here. Best wishes to the lad for full recovery, albeit with scars for life (both physical and mental). Yes, you can't WALK anywhere around here if you are not familiar with the area.

Holidaymakers Find Pattaya Pool Villa Crawling With Roaches And Rats

The other side of the coin can be that property owners will douse everything in dangerous chemicals, putting tenants at risk of being poisoned. -
Buying generic Viagra ( sildenafil) without prescription
law ling replied to topswijaya's topic in Health and Medicine
1. Just go into small pharmacies (not Boots) and show a picture of it. (It's a while since I got it ... it's no better, IMHO, than viagra.) 2. The cheapest solution, I find, is the Kamagra Jelly. I pay B850/box of 50, so it costs peanuts: B17/dose ... whereas the tablets of viagra (whether the original stuff, Thai copy or Indian copy ... or indeed Grakcu itself) can be B100++ per tablet. -
What do you do with your time in Thailand?
law ling replied to Sparktrader's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
1. Living alone, and rarely eating out, a large slice of the day is spent shopping, cooking, cleaning up. 2. I like an afternoon nap. 3. Once a week: a "visitor" pops in ... the works for B1,100. 4. Youtube is great. 5. To fill any dull moments, I write books, e-published on Amazon/Kindle. -
1. I doubt eight days are enough. In my experience, two or three visits can be needed for the root canal, and then another visit for fitting the crown. 2. Bangkok Hospital Pattaya does boast having specialist dentists and machines for root canals - you could try and ring them. 3. Good luck.

Tourism Rebound Could Generate 3 Trillion Baht for Thailand
law ling replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
As I see it, just a government department talking-up the economy: struggling businesses may decide to stay open on the strength of such a marvelous projection, in the hope of good times being here very soon. -
Good to see the guy is "upbeat" - he should have lost his job after the fiasco earlier in the week. Anyway, as usual: being reactive, never proactive - it should have been a piece of cake for him to click his computer and see what planes and passengers are leaving at any given time, and plan staffing levels accordingly: but no, don't plan, then wait for a problem to arise and then think about how to solve it is the way here (so it seems).

16.8 million Covid booster shots have not been thrown away, says top doc
law ling replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes, confusing. What the doctor "said" and "refuted" and "reiterated" does not specifically address the allegation. -
4-year-old Thai boy drowns at pool villa in Chonburi
law ling replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
1. Exact same thing happened a month back - don't these stories get national coverage? so that parents might be better educated? 2. "after being submerged for one minute." ... don't see how or why this was measured, or what point it tries to make. 3. A shocking tragedy for the parents, and a heavy guilt to have to carry. 4 RIP young chap ... so many of life's pleasures and pains you missed out on. -
Campaign to stop use of Thai numerals in official documents
law ling replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
What an interesting problem. However, the OP doesn't make clear HOW the numerals "pose an obstruction to the use of digital documentation." (I understand the wish to preserve national identity, but that doesn't explain how the numerals are alleged to be deficient.) -
There really is a need here for a thread on "minimalist cooking appliances for the single gent leading the good life in Thailand". I suppose many eat out or get delivery, but I do all my cooking with: Electric jug Toaster Rice cooker One electric hot-plate Slow cooker (crock-pot) - good results, but stinks up the room for the hours that it's on.

SURVEY: What are your biggest issues in Thailand?
law ling replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Agreed - it completely prohibits (for me) travel outside of tourist centers. Second: Having to be on constant lookout for aggressive dogs.
