Do what you want but I have been told Bumrungrad in BKK has been offering some lower prices for surgical procedures due to no medical tourists. I have 2 friends in Pattaya who made the trip to Bangkok for your surgery and both were extremely pleased with the results.
My personal experience is that Bangkok/Pattaya Hospital is higher priced then others in Pattaya.
Cheaper is not always better but I think Bumrungrad has a good reputation and some of the best Doctors in Thailand. If it was me I would at least make a trip there to get a consult. The bus one way is 116 b. ????
Good luck.
Thanks for the tip, it is a good plan

I had a mate who was looking to have this done many years ago. He said that Bangkok hospital in Rayong was substantially cheaper than Bangkok hospital in Pattaya. It might be worth giving them a call just to check.
(Sorry, no idea what the final outcome was as I moved and lost touch with him.)
Will give it go, thank you

I used to do aerobics at Tony's with a small group. One of the guys had both knees replaced at Si Racha. He said he had a great outcome.
Ok great , thanks do you know which hospital that was?

Can anybody give advice or experiences on Knee replacement surgery here in Pattaya/Thailand.
My left knee needs a replacement, so went to Bangkok Pattaya, x-ray etc, then they said would cost around 300k all in, so visited Prayathai (sorry for poor spelling) in Siracha, they said minimum 230k, plus fees to see the surgeon pre and after op.
Help.........

It's a standard letter that your embassy provides along with your new passport.
It gives Thai immigration permission to transfer the details of previous visa to new pp. It doesn't cost however without it no transfer
Just done my changeover from my old passport to the new one, the request to transfer visas letter that comes with the passport is fine for Immigration in Pattaya. Took my passport in the morning, and picked it up the next day, they use 2 pages in the new passport lol, cost: nothing.

Thank you

Greetings, my 5 year driving licences (Car and bike) are about to expire on July 11th, I have an alien ID card(pink one) and yellow book, do I still need the letter from immigration to say I reside here?
Thanks as always for your help

I found the info out on the net, like others on here just looking at it for now, am I permitted to put the website of the company I found on the net, or would that be deemed to promoting them, (I do not know if they are good or bad).
But the info received so far on here has really opened my eyes, thank you all so much.
I live on the "darkside" in Pattaya and my 3 phase meter is around 12 years old.
Frankly just to run an aircon or two, the pool pump, water heater, washing machine would be brilliant, the back into the meter thing is not an issue.
If anybody runs a company or philanthropically would offer assistance, I would be very happy.
Again thank you all so much

Since my retirement and spending more time at home during the day, have thought of Solar Panels to help reduce the cost of running the swimming pool pump and aircons in the house.
Seems 10kw going back to your meter when not using is a good idea?, quote around 200,000 baht.
Any helpful thoughts or ideas would be very welcome.

Went today, arrived 8.30 am, number 808, waited about 30 mins, she went through my papers, and asked for a photocopy of the first O visa in the passport, plus a copy of something with my address on, my driving licence was ok, paid 1900 and collect passport back tomorrow at 10am, She wanted to see my bank passbook to just visually check.
100% polite and professional,

I have a retirement visa extension that needs to be renewed by 23rd March 2016 at Jomtien, problem is that I leave Pattaya on January 9th and don't return until March 30th, (I work overseas), is it possible to renew it ahead of time in January?, and help and advise will be greatly appreciated.

Might be a little off topic, but can anyone advise me here please, I have an extension based on retirement and it expires on March 23rd 2016, I will be in Thailand until Jan 9th 2016 and then not again until March 30th, ( I work in West Africa) can I do the extension earlier than March 23rd, like in January, or does anybody have any ideas to help. Thank you as always

You want the HD package, which has a set top box (live Premier League matches are only shown in HD) and can be either cable or satellite. Cost is around 900 baht/month (there are discounts if you pay up front for X amount of years.
Yes very true, i have CTH and am happy with it, paid 3 years up front for an average price of 599 per month, all the games are in English, and Full HD, In fact there are many other channels in English with a dual language button option, So far so good!!

If I was you I would go and see Mr Michael at the school, he is very knowledgeable about the IGCSE programme etc.
It is very normal where English isn't a first language for students to sit IGCSE in Mateum 5 or 6 (year 11/12) I was a Principal of schools in Thailand and West Africa where this took place, If you want a full English education that takes IGCSE's at 14 or so, you would need to go to one of the elite International schools, like Regents, St Andrews etc, but be prepared to pay about 4 times the fees of BEST and other old style bi-lingual schools. Hope that helps.

Yes, good point Petermik, but the problem is its an older car, with an after market press button start and alarm
( I didn't fit, was with the car when I bought it), Nissan would just look and say: "cannot not Nissan"
But thanks for the comment
