National Parks are closed currently due to burning season. The ban ends April 30 which is also the current date in which the coronavirus restrictions end unless extended.

Ok, where can I find that information (about if they decide to extend the restrictions here in Chiang Mai or not)?

    I don't know Thai btw...

  2. Does anyone know how long they are gonna keep closed things like national parks, waterfalls etc due to the corona virus? And where can I get updated info about when they will open again?

Longing for nature (when the air pollution finally drops)...

    Best regards

Imported avocados are a <deleted> shoot.  Like all seasonal fruit and veggies, enjoy them while they're here, find something different when they are out of season.  Papayas are on a roll right now.  Arroy.

Aaah, but putting papaya in my salad instead of avocado is gonna be soooo disappointing!

By the way, any good tips for not too expensive salads to make (for lunch/dinner, not like a side dish)?

The one I used to do was with avocado, boiled egg, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, salad, tomatoes, watermelon, pineapple and dragonfruit (and mayonese, balsam vinegar and lemon and salt)...but all this became a bit expensive in the end to eat for dinner every day, that's why I need some nice suggestion on awesome salads that stil have some proteins

    What online shop was that?

  5. Live Mae Jo area and before I could buy avocados at Ruamchook but now, seems like they don't longer sell in the fresh market...any idea where to find around the area or did the government put a 24/7 curfew on them? ????

    Zero tourists.

    Migrant workers gone.

Only locals left. Many without jobs.

I hope for your sake there is a local employee that still has a job and has decided that this is the time to move into a new apartment and building.

Will you be completely disinfecting the unit and everything in it?

No one has lived there for a couple of weeks and probably won't soon. If there was a virus there, it is probably dead by now.

Yeah, we'll see if there is any luck, I don't put much hope but who knows.

  7. I have an apartment in a condominium (Lumpini Ville) that I want to rent out. Situated in Pattaya not far from the mall Terminal 21. It is a studio apartment (1 bedroom). Fully furnished and with a nice view to the ocean.

There is a pool, gym and laundry facilities available in the condo.

Cheaper rent the longer we write for contract.

    Contact if interested

  8. Hi, does anyone know if there have been some changes if I want to get another tourist visa by doing border run to Mae Sai/Tachilek and back in? Or if the government had said anything about any changes coming? Need to plan how to do since my tourist visa ends in April and if I cannot do border run...what to do to get back in? Specially since they seem to be closing the borders of Vietnam and Laos and probably other neighbouring countries

Here's a YouTube video of the J30 unit that, at about the 45 second mark, shows the HEPA filter and how it fits into the back of the unit with the back cover being a kind of pre-filter, but not a carbon one. Which is why I like to add my own carbon inside.  Then there's more display of the HEPA filter itself later in the video.

Any idea of where I can order an activated carbon pre-filter here in Thailand?

A quick view indicates that is a negative ion generator with a paper filter/fan.  No charcoal apparent and do not believe it has any.  Also do not believe filter is really HEPA as appears to be just Filtrate type material.  Negative ion is effective against smoke and will get that that odor out of the air quite well - but making it often makes ozone which will kill odors but also should not be used a living space at the levels required to be effective.  Plasma as advertised I would be very cautious with as often not explained what it is - I keep it off on my Hatari AP-12 unit (but that has a charcoal and true HEPA filter and does take most smells out of the air fairly quickly..

A bit weird that they say it's HEPA if it is not really that...don't they have standards about when a product can say it has HEPA when it really doesn't?

Also, any idea if it is possible to put some extra activates carbon filter on my unit and where to get one such?

  11. I just bought a Sharp FP-J30TA-A and was wondering if any of you has experience with this one. Does the HEPA-filter remove any odors? I tried but at least cooking smells and such are not removed but on the official site it says it should, don't know if there is any difference on the different colours of the same model (J30TA-P, or B...).

Basically what I don't understand is if the filter has any activated carbon in it (which is the one that is supposed to filter odors).

    Best regards

  12. A question. I need the papers to be claimed as the father of my Thai born child so that I can get a Nin-O Thai Child visa through immigration and I also need those papers to register my baby as Swedish citizen (my nationality). We got a lawyer and went to court, seems like it's gonna take almost 2 months for the court decision (even though it's an easy case since we have DNA test and the mother approves and all).

But, before they make a decision, it seems like we have to go to some Child Protection Center (สถานพินิจและคุ้มครองเด็กและเยาวชนจังหวัดเชียงใหม่)...does anybody know why we need that? We have an appointment in Friday...does anyone know what kind of questions they will ask? Seems like they are gonna interview me/us since we need to bring someone that can translate for me in English...

    Any info would be grateful!

    Thanks in advance

  13. Ok, so in the end, we had to go the court to start the process so that I get a paper from them that I am the legal father...so we applied and have to go first to the Chiang Mai Child Protection center, we have an appointment on Friday...

Does anybody know why we need to go there (what's their role in this whole process?) and what questions they will ask us/me? Apparently we have to bring someone that can speak English and translate for me (don't know why my girlfriend is not allowed to do it herself)

    Thanks for info

Can't comment on where in Thailand but I had a vasectomy 30 years ago. There is a very serious side effect you should consider.

It made the sex 10 times better! ????

I'm willing to take that risk ????

For luxury I found the main hospital of Chiang Mai ram to be kind of a dump.  Seemed old and dirty with many people who looked poor waiting.  Do they take overflow from government hospitals?  Just sayin.

A much better option that I chose was Bangkok CM hospital.  More updated, cleaner and professional I thought.

Either way, it will cost more.  But, how much is a persons health worth to them? Always amazes me how many just want the cheapest alternative.

I don't think it's always about the cheapest alternative but not many people want to pay more than they need too. Of what I have read, many people feel that private hospitals overcharge much more than what they actually give. Well, of course, if you don't have much money then you don't want the most expensive option, not everyone have the resources to pay a lot, specially if it is something small they need to check

Chiang Mai Ram Hospital if you have the money and want luxury treatment. No waiting for treatment.

Rajavege (?) Hospital if you have it, but don't want to waste it on luxury treatment.  20-min wait.

Sri Phat Hospital if you don't have money, but want top-level medical care. Bring a sleeping bag...

Haha, nice answer! One option for every level! ????

yeah, I don't have much money but want good medical care so I might go for Sri phat then.

is it a lot of difference in how much you pay between the options you gave?
