  1. The rule seems to pertain to O-A visas obtained in one's home country and might not apply to extensions of stay under other visa types  though this needs clarification.

In any case there is no requirement to have a private policy, just insurance that covers at least 400k hospital costs and 40k outpatient costs.  SS cover more than qualifies for this.

Actually never mind my last question. I looked into it and I’m good even if I did have to show it. Plus it sounds like it’s only for new Visas anyway. When I turn 50 years old though at least I’m already prepared if they do start requiring it for extensions.

I’m retired military so I’m covered by TRICARE and the VA, however you don’t actually have to show proof of coverage unless you’re age 50 and above right?

  3. Glad to say my son is now home in u. k.. he did not have to pay fine, but paid 3000bht court fee, he was held in IDC for almost 5 weeks along with 116 other prisoners, the conditions were very uncomfortable but considerably clean, food was rice and cabbage, with a boiled egg at night, allowed exercise for 1hr every other day, living space was approx. 6ft x 2ft.
Thankyou to all that posted positive comments.

I think I remember reading your post a long time ago. I’m glad to hear everything is okay now. Good luck in the future.

  4. It's true Korat Immigration is very helpful I know because I live in Korat to and they're awesome.  Korat Immigration is by the book though which is good because you always know what to expect there.  But Korat Immigration will not deviate from the rules they stick to the rules and they're by the book.  But they are also VERY FRIENDLY AND VERY HELPFUL.

What the OP is posting is no surprise at all Korat Immigration has always been very helpful, friendly, but also exactly by the book which is actually also a very good thing because you know that they're not going to make up their own rules they never do.  They're by the book, helpful, and, always very friendly.  I think Korat Immigration is probably the best in Thailand based on everyone else's complaints about other immigration offices.  I love Korat and I wouldn't want to live in any other city but I do like to visit as much of Thailand as I can but I would only want to live in Korat nowhere else.
