I was waiting for years for them to have sales to travel to Australia, so in all those years of travel to Australia in the interim, they have lost out as other carriers like Jetstar have fares at less than halve the price Thai airways have been offering, and those are direct flights from Phuket to Sydney, although I did fly with AirAsia to Sydney once via Malaysia, the change was a bit boring but hey, i.e. 3 hour layover, but the fare was still half the price.

The above said, Thai Airways fly bigger planes with more room, food and alcohol free, as is entertainment, but hey, iPads/tablets these days sort that out, as do ready made meals to take on board, and if you need a drink, you pay a little extra or go without.

All of the above said, I would fly Thai Airways to Sydney for $800AUS return, but not over $1,000 when I can get there direct for $580AUS from Phuket all inclusive, just have to take some food/snacks on board, it all adds up when you have a big family of 6, so if Thai Airways wants to stay in the game, it has to drop it's pants, i.e. it's called competition, or better abng for your buck !

I mostly use Thai Airlines from Sydney prices have been great for some time now I traveled last Oct for $720 best price ever. However a few months ago similar price for October this year, checked today increase of about $100

How does the ambulance make money if the victim is dead and can't pay for the ambulance?

This happens a lot I feel. My neighbour in Hua Hin from Switzerland developed a rare blood disease he slowly got worse in and out of hospital. Then his mrs called me one day to check on him, white as no pulse she had called the ambulance I commenced cpr but he was gone. Ambo lads arrived checked him they said his heart little little bit working... we take him to hospital but I knew he was already deceased, standard practice I feel and more baht from the family

  3. Yes I agree with Kenny 202 post when the baht was good it was ok to live in los. But now with the decrease in the baht and monies in Thai bank before and after retirement extension, also come July if aged over 50 you must have health insurance, which yes I agree is a must have in los. Many farang I have spoken to are considering relocating to Phillipines etc not sure what system is in place there, would be hard for guys aged 60 plus to return to Australia or UK if they don’t have property or family to assist.very hard to gain employment

What makes this particularly unpalatable for me is, that when I came to live in Thailand 4 years ago from London, one of the many things that first struck me, was a complete lack of begging. Most Thai people, unless they have had a Government job will not receive a state pension, and consequently, as most of you will know, have to continue working until they shuffle their feet into the next dimension.

Where I live (Hua Hin) there is a very old lady, bent over a small trolly at 90° unable to stand upright, trudging the Soi’s looking for plastic bottles to try and get a few Baht for. I feel an obligation from my relative place of comfort, to stop and give her a few Baht when I see her, but it is not much I know, and there are many like her in Thailand. So it sickens me to see these two young men begging when a frail, crippled old lady is too proud to. I hope they are arrested, prosecuted and banned from ever entering the Kingdom again. I also hope other things for them, but somethings are better left unsaid ..... PEACE

Yes I have seen the lady you mentioned as I lived there for 6 years I always gave her a few baht or some food. Not like those annoying flower sellers controlled by the lady in the wheel chair according to my Thai lady she has millions huge house and treats those flower sellers like crap
