I'd be willing to spend about 10000 or so baht on a decent suit which for a suit I probably only wear once or twice is more than enough, I think. Probably a case of me not wanting to do the leg work in Bangkok.

Thank you. I  have to go to a wedding July 13 in the USA, I arrive the 9th.  Macy's it is.  I did some checking meanwhile with some Bangkok custom made places and it can get quite pricey. I never wear suits so it really does not make sense to have one made, I guess.
