Over the years I have seen too many people crash and burn here. Some did so fast, others in slow-motion. Most refuse to accept their situation and keep going downhill. Confession and acceptance are the first steps to recovery. Best of luck.

    Thank you

Dude they are hideous in Wood Bar. Dont embarass yourself here, there are specialized Forums where they have no regard. What is it going to be like for you when you find the good places?

There's a couple cute good looking girls there.

There's a girl there that gives me the rim of a lifetime. We're talking Rusty Trombone.

I'm going to abstain and become a-sexual.

  4. I think I am a sex addict.  I caught herpes.  I keep going to Wood Bar.  I drink when I am out here and I never drink.  I was doing cannabis every day.  I lost the home I was living in Hawaii.

This place is no good for me.

As previously explained there are Thai generic brands that will be found at any really large Thai pharmacy.

Some pharmacies that are especially noted for stocking generics include:

Rung Rot Pharmacy, On Nut, right side coming form Sukhumit, about 50 meters down. Should they not have it, there are 2 other pharmcies nearby.

    https://maps.app.goo.gl/5WCrxiKQsvF6pmrE8

    tel 023112720

Por Bor Pesat (P.B.) pharmacy on Sukhumvit 71 at the intersection with PetchaburiPattanahkhan Rd.

    https://maps.app.goo.gl/hQKTdzv6hD9GkAbw9

    Tel 0823845025

In both cases, little to no English spoken and they may not recognize drug name when spoken by a foreigner, so hand them a piece of paper saying the following in block letters:

    "Escitalopam

    Thai brand (Esopam, Escipam)"

If you can get a Thai speaker to call first, may help but can be hard getting through, these pharmacies are very, very busy

Whatever you do, do not ask for "Lexapro" as that will result in being given brand name Lexapro.

A month's supply will be about 800 baht so still not cheap but half the cost Lexapro

800 baht is fine.  Thank you for this information.  Maybe I can ask them for Lexapro generic?  Does anyone know the phrase I should say?

  6. Right now I'm using an AIS hotspot as my main Internet connection and it is adequate but not that great.  The speed isn't that fast.

My apartment will not let me install outside fiber or cable Internet so this is what I resort to.

Is there a faster hotspot service?  My device and plan only allow 4G, is it possible to buy a router that will allow faster speed?

Register at a THAI MILITARY HOSPITAL.  Get a physical there ( under $10.00 ), discuss your medicine needs with the doctor.

    When I 1st came here ( 12 years ago } I registered at a Thai MILITARY hospital ( free Hospital I D Card ) and got the EXACT meds I paid ( WITH co-pay ) $63.00

...A MONTH... in the US.  I paid $21.00 FOR 3 MONTHS SUPPLY at the Army Military Hospital.

Check it out to see if a MILITARY hospital it fits your needs.  I pay the same cost for services as Thai civilians using the hospital

    Are there any around Bangkok?

  8. Has anyone met the Crazy Catlady of Bangkok?

She has 9 cats and hoards them.

She wears oversized clothing that has cats on them.  It looks like she is wearing oversized scrubs.

She asks people to help donate to her Cat Shelter.

She keeps her cats alive past the point where they can no longer eat or drink on their own.

She hates Thailand and Thai people yet is Thai and lives in Bangkok for 20 years plus.

    She hates whores.

  9. I am afraid Bangkok is getting a bit boring (and expensive) for me.

I had a best friend out here that I used to hang out with a bit.  Long story short, I think she is ghosting me and humankind for that matter.

The Meetups have me bored to tears.  The same locals who have nothing going on for themselves seem to show up all the time.  Retired expats and weirdos.  But also, it's exhausting to have the same conversations with people who you are never going to see again in your entire life.  Things were pretty awesome when Tao had his Meetups and I met some pretty cool and interesting people that way, but those are no more.  The only meetup in the city I find engaging is the FIRE meetup.

I am considering living in another part of Thailand or Cambodia.  I enjoy the events that happen around Bangkok and the livelihood of the city, but I am becoming an old fart where maybe I want a little bit less people.

Jomitien I heard is nice and cheaper than BKK.  Maybe I can try living in Chiang Mai or Udon Thani for a bit.

I get around $1100 a month and was also wondering if it would be possible to living somewhere comfortably and maybe even save some of that per month.  I have horrible discipline in BKK since boom boom is everywhere and I admit I am probably a sex addict and bit of a sexpat at times.  Also, I eat my fair amount of Burger King and McDonald's as I am a cultureless American.

Has anyone lived in Siem Reap before?  I heard it is cheap but boring.  I went there for a few days and was pretty impressed.  However, I like to hide in malls from the sun during the day and Siem Reap does not seem to have any of them.  Also, there is the ease of staying there on a visa.  From what I hear it costs around $40 - $50 a month to extend your tourist visa and they will keep doing that indefinitely.  This seems better than leaving for a visa run every few months which also includes the 1900 baht extension at their immigration office.

So I guess I'm asking for some advice.  Is there more or less going on in Jomtien, Chiang Mai, and Udon Thani?  I thought I could never get bored of Bangkok because it's such a lively and interesting city, but it really has not been as good as before the pandemic.  No more 24 hour bars.  Thailand wants to be like Singapore which kind of sucks.

  10. My friend is mentioning a book but does not know the name.  It has to do with the 24 Faces of Thai people.

Does anyone know the book title?  I really want to read this.  It has to do with how Thais are different, or how they present themselves differently in certain situations.

I had a really good Thai friend who runs a bar and now she is giving me the cold shoulder and I have no clue what I did to deserve such treatment.  This is what triggered me wanting to read this book.
