Many countries do not bother with outward immigration checks, leaving the onus to the airline to report the names and passport numbers of departing passengers. I am sure there are ways to therefore streamline checks for outward passengers. One suggestion is not require photo and fingerprint if the immigration officer believes all papers to be legitimate? My 2 cents worth!

Putin seems to be the real Nazi in 2022. Annexing Crimea, invading Ukraine. Very similar to Sudetenland and Czechoslovakia in 1938-1939.... Followed of course by a war with the free world.

While the intentions are good, this reminds me of the discussions a few years ago when it was decided driving with high heels should be illegal! Impossible to enforce. The blacked out windows in nearly all cars make this regulation almost totally pointless.

Seems a little bizarre for the judge to say it is not discrimination because it is good for Thailand. That in itself is discrimination.
However us farangs should not be too self righteous. The cost of a visa to get into UK for a Thai is enormous and the UK government could be assessed to have discriminated against the Thai by taking a substantial fee upfront even before arrival in our sunny uplands.

Whoever edits the titles in Thai Visa? There does not seem to be any order at all. The Government has given guidance then seems to then say up to the individual schools to decide.

Not much point in discussing further until it is established that the vaccine prevents the carrying of the virus.

Putting hotel workers above teachers.... Profit above education.... wealth before health.... mmmm I do not think the proposal is sensible or acceptable.

1.5 million tourists is about 10,000 (or 50 aircraft per day)! Given all the rules, this looks a little optimistic.

In most countries, the primary duty of a government is to protect its citizens. In Thailand the TAT is proposing to put Thailand's citizens at risk for a possible short term gain of attacting a few extra Chinese tourists. Already tourists from outside China are reconsidering visiting Thailand precisely because the government is encouraging China inbound tourists, is not informative about exactly what is going on vis a vis Covid19, and is not overtly attempting to stop the spread of Covid19. Has the government seriously thought this initiative through?

3 hours ago, DannyCarlton said:Thailand has received an extremely bad press over this in the West. Media constantly mentioning that Thailand is the highest risk country outside China. You can knock a big chunk of Western tourists off that 50% figure.
It receives the press it deserves. While, for the safety of their citizens, other neighboring countries are trying to limit the freeflow of visitors from China, Thailand continues to encourage Chinese Tourists to come. Thank goodness China is being responsible by banning outbound tour groups. The Thailand approach is totally shortsighted. They have successfully killed the goose that lays the golden eggs.

Thailand seems to have a static number of 19 Coronavirus people..... By the spread of it elsewhere, this would seem to be unrealistic. How can it be possibly true that a visitor from South Korea gets the virus but no Thai gets it? Far from restricting Chinese inbound tourism from China, Thailand has welcomed tourists from China and Coronavirus has only been partially resticted in Thailand by the actions of the Chinese government. Thailand is in danger of really killing off their tourist industry by it laissez faire attitude towards the virus. It really is time for some decisive leadership. Action and transparency can still save the day.

Just look at the Forbes Rich List and you will see that the alcohol tycoons have had the government in their pocket. I doubt very much that Prayuth can do much about it as he also needs powerful civilians on his side. I do however wish the new government would change the tax structure to discourage spirits consumption.

Is Chalerm now starting to do his job?
Yes...next thing he will be sending in the bulldozers and having to turn the sites into parks like he had to do when he tore down part of Sukemvite.
I think you will find it was Chuwit who did that

First of all, what is a "nonce?" Second, these guys do not seem that bad or dangerous to me. If the guy who "did something" to 11 year old kids received a suspended sentence, chances are that he already served many months waiting for his trial AND what he did what not that bad (ie. touching or taking photos vs. rape).
Statutory rape means having consensual sex with a girl under 18. So this dude may have had sex with a very willing 17 year old girl. So what? Maybe the US should drop the age of consent down to 15. That would eliminate 1000s of "nonces" from the world.
Finally, the dude who is wanted for extortion regarding a motorcycle, send him back for trial. I must tell you though, I have been swindled by many people regarding loans and investments, which they have never paid back. The police will not help at all. They claim it is a "civil matter." Therefore, I must hire a $300/hour lawyer, who sends out letters and demands, which generally result in zilch. That is justice in America. So I just let it go. It's not worth the stress.
In summation, these guys all have sinned - but so have we. They are really not much different than any of us.

I can't help but think that you are deranged. Touching 11 year old kids is OK is it? Statutory rape ok is it? What is wrong with you?

The only problem might be getting the work permit because some offices will not issue work permit on a visa obtained as a dependent.
If the work permit is issued then go to immigration and get an extension based upon working verses as dependent or she could stay on the dependent extension and work.
I am a British farang with a Thai wife. I have an "O" visa and a work permit. Does not seem to be a problem. Immigration did ask my wife why she bothered to marry a farang earning less than her.... To which she replied "LOVE"!

A bit expensive
700 x Iphones at approx 26,000 is under 20,000,000 baht, and Ipads are not that expensive
so where is the rest of the money going?
Yingluck... Please do something about corruption in your government!

Provided the rise is not to finance wifi which is dangerous for drivers and does not help the traffic flow, I do not mind the increase . The recent wifi statements stink of some backhanded deal and should be thoroughly investigated.

Back in my good old days In England I would get a phone call from a chief constable with information on the paedophiles that would get of because of some technicality in the court cases and they are 100% guilty.
.
Well me and some underground buddies would pick these guys up and have fun with them for two or three days and depending on how bad these people are they couldn't ever do anything wrong or harm children again!!!
I really f**king hope someone like me is around to do these things in Thailand
I hope these guys you mutilated were guilty not like the Guildford 4 and the Birmingham 6

The only potential benefit of this type of exercise (apart from self agrandissement) is that the Embassy will serve the UK and its citizens better as a result. From what I read, nothing will change and therefore it was a fruitless exercise. I hope that the Ambassador and William Hague read this and realise that the FCO must do more than self image building.
I am appalled at the new passport situation which is both slow and very expensive. If this service does not improve (ie get passports quicker to recipients) UK citizens should at least expect a reduction in cost for this third class service.
I do not think the FCO has a clue how deeply UK citizens living in Thailand feel about the level of service provided by the British Embassy in Bangkok. The ambassador clearly does not know and despite this "meet the people" exercise, he is clearly out of touch.

Thai drivers are pretty good compared to Saudi.
I'll agree with you on this one. Saudi drivers make the Thais look like angles.
Angles or Angels?!

Hi,
It would cost you around 14500-15000.
Cheers
OK thank you. Do you happen to know how much the Curve 8900 and 8520 models go for?
Thanks again.
I bought a curve 8520 about three months ago in MBK for THB11,000
Bungee jump given clean bill of health after Hong Kong tourist "damaged Thai tourism" by going to foreign media

So a Bungee company in Pattaya uses defective equipment which fails and is dangerous and the focus of the article seems to be that reporting the incident is unfair to Thai Tourism. The equipment was obviously replaced after the accident so the checks now are pointless. Why was this not reported on the day of the accident?
