  1. Hi,

I need some help to customise templates for my website. I know basic web design but not enough to customise the template to my satisfaction and so am willing to pay a freelancer to help me with it. Max 3 days work with potential for furture work because we have many projects. Would like someone with knowledge of SEO too. Know anyone? PM me with your contact and we should arrange to meet asap as I need to get this project started. Thanks!

  2. Hey guys,

    Need some advice here.

    1) Where is the best and most secured place to register a .co.th domain name? Prices seem to vary significantly with the Thai registrar websites.

    2) There seems to be mixed views as to who can register. Can you only register a .co.th domain that is that of your registered company's name? i.e. If my company is called "elite group co. ltd" then I can only register elitegroup.co.th or anything I wish?

Advice from the experienced would be most appreciated.

  3. I am going to try my luck in this very tedious process of getting PR here. However, I am stuck with a small obstacle. I am from Singapore and I am trying to get my certificate of no criminal conviction, which takes 2 weeks to process. How the Singapore police needs this one thing that is killing me!

"Documentary proof from the immigration authority requiring the certificate. (A print out of the application requirements is not acceptable.)"

I have been to the PR section at Suanplu and they say they do not issue such a document. I can't seem to reach the Singapore office in charge, so how in the world am I going to get this document. Anyone has any advise?

    HELP!

  4. Currently I am having the same prob. as you Misty. I can see the website fine, but I cannot log on to receive my emails. When I did a tracert, it showed that the connection timed out somewhere in Atlanta. Sent it to 3ix support and here's their reply:

"We have checked your issue and your website is up and loading fine at all. also trace route report from your end is okay. Your IP address was blocked on the server due to many pop3 login failures from XXX.120.XXX.10 IP that causing you such problem, We have unblocked the IP address on the server and the site and cpanel/ftp should be resolving fine."

I can receive my emails now so I guess they have resolved it, however, this time was only my emails. I occasionally cannot login to my ftp too but I will send another support ticket when that happens.

Reading all the replies in this thread, I have a question. If an ISP such as TRUE blocks an IP address and you happen to be one of the unlucky buggers using that same IP address as www.miss-spanky-pants.com then wouldn't your business suffer since many THai subsribers will not be able to access your site? That would really suck.

The host I actually switched to was Dreamhost (they have a 97 days guarantee) as I heard many good things about it but their support really sucks. I hate their custom inhouse panel. They don't have any adequate stats so I had to install awstats myself. Ran into some problems and they wouldn't help. Everything you ask, they refer you to their Wiki help. That's why I've given up and asking for my money back. Only good things is, I didn't have all this IP blocking problems!!!! Arrrrgh. Can't I have it all?

  5. Hey guys,

3ix replied today and confirmed that it is indeed True and that they are blocking many IP addresses on their end. I tried calling True technical but there is never anyone around to pick up the calls. This is really frustrating!!! Bad for business indeed! I bet even if I did get to speak to someone at True, they wouldn't have any idea what the problem was or explain why they are blocking all these IP addresses. So what can we do about really? 3ix has asked me to send them a tracert and let's see what they come back with.

Local ISPs should get their act together!!!!

  6. Hi,

I currently host several websites in the US with 3ix.com. They offer good rates and excellent service but I constantly have problems accessing my ftp and mail server. I work from 2 different places using 2 different ISPs - namely Pacific internet and True. Often, I can access my mail using Pac. net but NOT when using True. Does anyone encounter such problems here? Is it because True is blocking my ports for whatever reason? I also encounter problems logging onto my to my ftp server occasionally and I know for a fact it's got nothing to do with my host. I'd not be able to access it for hours, sometimes even days and then suddenly it's fine again. I have no idea why and neither does my host's support! I am hoping maybe some of you have experienced the same problems and share with me how you went about solving it. I actually switched host for a month but their support really sucked so I went back to 3ix because it's really not their fault but it seems the local ISPs have a problem with their ISP or something. What could possibly be the problem. Would appreciate any kind of advice.

    Thanks

  7. Hi,

My dad and uncle in Singapore run a large and well known head hunting firm. Anyways, I am not here to promote their firm but rather, to appease the cynical that this is a legitimate post, and there are available positions (with great salary) for those who might be interested.

    * Head Infomation Technology - Must have experience working in IT in the banking industry. Relevant / good tertiary education. Fluent in written and spoken English.

  8. I have been working legally in Bangkok for almost 5 years now (always for the same company). I work radio in a mgt. position and let's just say this radio network is part of the biggest TV network in Thailand. I've always had a one year visa and work permit, renewable at the end of every year for another year etc. Now it's up for renewal again but what HR tells me is that immigrations said they would only issue one month visas for now, and only after one month will they decide if I am up for a one year renewal. And if they reject my one year renewal application, then it will have to be renewable month to month. Has anyone heard anything about this??? Sounds pretty crazy to me!

I'd also like to add that my HR department is rather clueless so I am not so sure they got the facts right but you never know in this country. Things don't always work according to universal logic.

Would like to hear what others are experiencing (I mean those with valid visas and work permits)

  9. Hi,

I am looking to rent a room at the Palm Pavillion Condo sometime next month. Just for a few days...

Anyone has the no. to the Palm Pavillion Condo Office in Hua Hin? Last time I tried one of those property care companies in HUa hin, They weren't alot of help. 1st I was told the room was 2500 per day and they wanted to charge me 7500 for 3 days 2 nights. I said shouldn;t it be 2500 per night? The lady said as far as she knows, its always charged by per day. Hello???? Well, we managed to settle that and I confirmed a room. She called me back later to tell me the condo management misinformed her and the room she thot was vacant has already been rented out. So I think I will contact the condo direct next time.

BTW, the property care mgt. company I was refering was farang-owned so I really was a little shocked that she actually thought rooms are charged by per day as opposed to per night.

And does anyone notice that all the propverty care companies in Hua Hin NEVER have a tel. no on their websites? They have offices, email addresses (which they take a while to reply to) but they never state a tel. no. to call! If a company doesn't have a no. where I can just pick up the phone and call, then I'm off somewhere else!

  10. guys,

can someone tell me if there is a need to submit a site to search engines regularly to maintain page rank. I always thought resubmitting the same site would be seen spamming and therefore penalized, but all these SEO/Traffic marketing sites offer the service of submitting one's site to thousands of search engines on a regular basis (at a fee of course), So what's the deal? If I am already indexed by Google, Yahoo and MSN, do I need to submit again and again???

Also, can I actually submit a "parked" site to search engines? Will the site be blacklisted if it's a parked site?

And lastly, I've given up on being listed on DMOZ.... :o

  11. Hi,

Is there anyone out here who has actually made money auctioning off domain names? We've all heard stories of people who have sold their domain names for thousands, lets not even mention millions. Just look here http://www.dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm for the list of domains that was sold just recently but as a skeptic, I wonder....is it really possible? I know nothing is that easy. I have a few good domain names but they are nothing like Business.com or the equivalent. So tell me, does anyone have any experience to share? Where is the best site to auction off these domains? I'd like to go with godaddy.com as they have a good rep. but they make you pay for everything! Almost everything....

Anyway, hope to hear from someone, anyone (with valuable advice) soon.

  12. Isn't it sad, after all this we are still not any closer in revealing such a company as specified by F1. I feel for you F1 and I was really looking forward to the outcome of this thread. I ended up doing my own company website too after calling up Thai companies that do not answer their phones or do not have a portfolio for show! Like moony, I managed to get our page listing top 10 on google, yahoo, msn etc. A lot of work involved but at least I know the end result. Good luck in your search and hopefully you will find that elusive company soon.

  13. this thing about getting the money from outside has always confused me. How is it that you got a 70% mortgage if you have to get the sum transferred in from overseas? A friend of mine said he had to transfer the entire 100% amount to a local bank before they would give him a mortgage. And then he transferred the money back out. So the obvious question is, why would I need a mortgage if I had the full amount to transfer into the country???? Someone please clarify this for me once and for all. Thanks a lot!

  14. Hi,

I have emailed sales@thaivisa twice and admin@thaivisa 3 times. I initially got a PM from Cdnvic saying there was something wrong with the mail server and to PM him instead. I tried that and I got an error saying his PM is either disabled or inbox is full. I then posted on the forum to ask for further instructions and got a reply from George saying to email admin@thaivisa and all will be sorted. Done that, thrice and still nada. I have even left my tel. no. twice hoping someone would call but nope....nothing still. I've kinda given up because it really shouldn't be like that. Clients shouldn't have to chase you to give you their money, wouldn't you agree? Thanks for trying anyway.

BTW another member PM's me saying she didn't get a reply from you guys too. Not sure if she has given up too cos' she said she sent you an email on the 14th June. I wish her luck!

  15. A fair rate for a full time maid is 7000 bht up altho' most Thais will insist that 5000 - 6000 is more than sufficient! But maid who have worked for farangs usually expect 9000 bht or more. Those on Bambi site tend to expect 10,000 and above! I have a part time maid who comes in 6 days a week for 3 - 4 hours and only asks for 2800 bht but I give her 3000 bht because she is very honest and great. I believe in paying a fair wage especially if that person has to look after your kids. The only problem I have is that many maids jsut want more, more , more because we are farangs and I have actually encountered some who think 10,000 is too little! I mean seriously, some graduates aren't even paid that! At the end of the day, you should pay what you can afford comfortably or what you think your maid is worth, and make sure that your maid is happy with her pay because happy workers are loyal workers....some times.

  16. Does anyone know how much it cost to rent a pickup for a an hour or so? I just need to go from Soi 50 to Soi 53 to pick up a desk, that's it! Does anyone want to rent his out for 350 - 400 bht ? That's almost a week's fuel for one trip :o

You can meet me at 53 and then we'll pick up the desk and drive back to 50. Easy Peasy. PM me with your contact and I will call you.

    Cheers!

  17. Hi,

I have a "luk krueng" toddler who has been approached by interested agencies to register with them and have her snapshots taken for free. I realise that there are many modelling agencies out there who would be interested in representing my daughter and I wouldn't mind giving it a shot. Does anyone know which agency is the biggest when it comes to casting for kids?

And how does it work here? To go with just one agency or a couple?

I have the option of Chic models, JIM modelling and P & N international model management. Which should I go with for my child?

Glad to hear any advice. Thanks!

  18. Hi,

I am looking at starting a dry clean shop and i was wondering if anyone can advice me further on it. I have a 20 sm premise in a really good location on Sukhumvit and I see many dry clean shops with just a small space to hang the clothes. So where does the actual dry cleaning take place? Do most of these shops have their own dry cleaning equipment or do they outsource it to a factory? How profitable is a dry cleaning shop really?

Glad for any advice or suggestions.
