I know somebody who flew from the US to the UK 3 days ago. On Arrival no checks to determine temperature or questions asked, no quarantine nothing. Considering the levels of cases in both nations, this is pretty insane. People don't really care much here anymore, we social distance but life is going on as normal pretty much

The latest ONS figures for the UK puts the incident of coronavirus in the population at 0.0006.

A lot of these have been in care homes.

Hopefully, the UK foreign office is informing the crooked, uneducated, gangsters that run Thailand of these facts.

There is only one thing that will make Pattaya Covid safe.  Vaccine.

We all better hope there's a vaccine then.

You been out of your house/condo/caravan in the last 3 months?

Better keep getting the food parcels delivered. It's a jungle out there.

The ONS in the UK now put the incident of coronavirus in the population at 0.0006.

I would suggest more chance of an airplane landing on you.

    Enjoy.

Bars aren't even open! I wonder how many would really be driven to leave. I can see those with businesses having to, particularly restaurants and bars.... and perhaps the Expat lifestyle will have to change, but I presently don't feel I want to go back to glum and dreary PC UK. If the locals develop more anti-Western attitude, and crime rises a lot, maybe.

    Fair enough.

I was speaking to a friend of mine yesterday who has been coming to Thailand for at least 40 years. Splits the year between the UK and Thailand.

When he first came the Germans and Brits were the main nationalities. Then came the Russians and now Chinese and Indians.

He said that many guys left when sterling started falling lower a few years.

Personally i agree, would be happy in Thailand with a very simple life but we haven't got a choice at the minute.

I hate to say this because i really am sorry for all those who lost their jobs and had to close their businesses and wish they didnt have to .

but i love Pattaya the way it is without the crowds ,lots of parking ,no hordes of Chinese blocking the streets ,and no traffic jams . mind you i have noticed that many prices of goods have gone up in the supermarkets.

At last someone who speaks sense.

For Pattaya Expats its not win win. Some will enjoy the peace and calm but it will start to come with a price as the months pass.

Bars closing, prices increasing to try and make up for lower footfall and more people heading home permanently to farang land.

As I posted I was not the only one there taking photos. There were several and was only there the time it takes to eat a hamburger. Have been in the neighbourhood for 4 to 5 years and I still feel an attraction to the "dirty Miami" aspect of Pattaya. Nice boulevard but holes in the ground everywhere. Hookers mixing with tourists. My hamburger cost 65 baht and I could sit on a deck with a beautiful view to eat it.

    Living the dream.

With big spenders like you Pattaya will thrive.

    Dear help us all.

I specifically used the words "maybe" and "some" in relation to the possibility of gogo bars opening up in the LK Metro/Soi Buakhao area.

What landlords advertise as the rent is irrelevant. That can and will change according to supply and demand.

Whatever the rent payments will be in LK Metro are definitely a lot lower than Walking Street rents, in the past and in the future.

FYI, 300k is a typical rent payment for small shops in Central Mall. 250K rental is no surprise or shocking.

There will be incentive for some bar owners with deep pockets to reopen because the market will be less competitive for any that do manage to stay afloat.

You are presenting a detailed thesis on logical sound business practice.

Problem is Pattaya is a giant laundry cleaning dollars or any currency you want.

    Logic doesn't apply.

Wouldn't surprise me to see the Central Avenue mall conversion into gogos/bars as soon as the coast is clear.

You can read into that what you want.

Isn't freedom of movement/travel a human right? I wonder that this is possible in a democracy.

Go but go into quarantine when returning would be more appropriate.

Why do you think there has been trouble in the UK?

3 months of being couped up. Something has to give.

US and UK can meet and protest freely with no regard for themselves or fellow citizens.

I think if us Brits don't have the freedom to travel this summer, the situation will become a pressure cooker.

Travel bubbles or corridors are to be announced by the UK within weeks.

If a city has no customers

How does that work, do  people living in the area and domestic tourists not go to the shops ?

You need income to spend money.

    Pattaya and surround needs tourism.

The place will slowly fall apart.

Pensioners on fixed income and a strengthening baht isn't a great combination for an economic boom.

Enjoy the peace and quiet but its a luxury Pattaya and surround can't afford.

Thailand will soon open to foreigners with PR, Work Permits and Thai families to return to them.... perhaps he fits into one of these groups. There has yet to be a vaccination requirement, but up to now Thai authorities seem to be sitting on a success story wrt protecting its people. I feel fortunate to have come under that umbrella.

The 'I'm alright jack brigade' don't seem to understand how economics works.

If a city has no customers then its shops, restaurants, bars and infrastructure start to not function and survive.

That means that while you sit in a smug bubble the place begins to fall down around you.

This dirty farang narrative seems to be gathering pace and i would be nervous of future negative changes to immigration policy.

  10. It's being reported that international flights may not be able to even resume on 1st July.

Travel bubbles need to be in place and business people need to be in a financial position to afford health care and quarantine.

They have approved a big domestic travel package.

I'm afraid to say that farang, expat businesses in Pattaya are going to be hung out to dry.

They are wallowing in the low official figures and are going to keep it that way.

Said it months ago, the 31st of July is the first chop, then what's left will be chopped up slowly, so all the pratts from last year talking about " Abiding by the law "and "Having sufficient savings", and those that can't jump through the "Hoops" should go home........  Well, suck it up fellahs, they're coming for you shortly.....

The Thai people are ok, it's the pack of K*&^S at the top that are full on xenophobic half wits (Anutin and his cronies) who are now kissing the rear end of China in the hope they can lend some more money and sell a bit more country, even Cambodia's doing the same cr#p at the moment, maybe the same boss in charge ?

I legged it last year to a country next door, got a job there and will be going back very shortly, sadly i don't think i'll be "Allowed" back into the country that i've lived in for thirty years, also sadly i know that western countries will not be treating Thais the same way...... So glad that i don't own a pot to pi&^ in here, because there's one thing i know about Thailand, you'll be leaving everything you can't pick up and run with......  Enjoy the hoops.........

    Glad your not bitter.

If you moved to Vietnam then you definitely will miss Thailand. Beautiful country and nice people but doesn't have the same attraction as Thailand for me.

However, i totally agree that no one should own assets in Thailand or any other country.

You are a guest in a foreign country and some day your host may tell you it's time to go. Keep your assets in farang land.

There is nothing anyone can do until the virus goes away. Thailand has done a amazing job controlling the virus. But virus control and tourism do not mix.

Pity it mixes in Europe and other countries dependent on tourism.

I thought from the start of this crisis that humanity would have to learn to live with this virus. My thoughts haven't changed.

Countries locked down, health services were improved, testing and track and trace were put in place.

Meanwhile, countries economies were shut for 3 months.

The only ar*#holes who want to keep economies shut are scientists and politicans both who get paid a kings ransom including indexed linked pensions.

The c*#ts couldn't care if the economy is locked down for 10 years, they will still get paid.

Opening bars without tourists is like driving a car with no wheels pointless 90% of ex pats sit at home sucking on a Leo & if they do attend local bars on a budget !!! Im in LOS in October & will have a night or 2 to see friends & have a butchers about ????

Are you recounting a dream you had?

You said 'I will be in LOS in October.'

If the <deleted> wits who run Thailand have their way you won't be in Thailand until everyone on the globe has been vaccinated.

That could be 1, 10 years or never.

And T.A.T is getting the money from where?

That's conveniently forgotten by the award winning author.

Personally, i would stop the farang food handouts and watch the rioting and looting

    from a high studio condo.

The pocket lining Thai bigots might open BKK tomorrow.

Why rush when the dirty idiot farangs feed our citizens?
