Thanks for the info both of you... yes I figured as much!
Will try and get that sorted before heading there.
Excuse the lack of research, one more question-
Will we have to head to tempoary centre in Muang Thong Thani or the usual Chaengwattana for the 60 day Non-O Extension for visiting Thai family ? -
Yes it is based on marriage.
I was wondering whether providing a rental contract is necessary though? -
Hey all,
I am also planning my 60 day Non-O extension to buy some time for long-term options.
My question is if a rental contract is always required?Over the next month I'll be at an airbnb, while looking for a long term condo. Could I provide the address and say I am staying with a friend? Or is it absolutely necessary to have a rental contract.
Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences -
Yes, it's definitely possible to find a university position.
I am in the exact same boat and that is my only interest teaching here. However as you have noticed, although there are many school jobs listings there are pretty much no university listings on job boards.
The only way to get the ball rolling is to go on their websites and contact them directly through either (or both) the personnel page and the faculty page of the university you are interested in teaching at (contacting the Dean of the faculty directly if possible and email is provided).
You can find universities and their websites through google maps based on where you want to teach; you will have to use google translate to navigate their awful websites to find the relevant faculty and staff pages.
As others mentioned 'government' universities pay a measly 30k.
However certain private and 'international' universities can pay up to 60k for those with a masters, so it's worth checking those ones out since you're qualified.
Good luck.
And you can PM me your email if you need some initial contacts which I have gathered on my own search.

An update -
Bang Rak requires advance appointment now so you need to ring up a few weeks in advance of going.
Or you can take the risk of going very very early - they accept only 5 walk-in appointments for foreigners a day as of now.
As for what I did; contrary to information on the internet, I went to the amphur office where my fiance is registered: Nong Yai in Chonburi.
They require a small wait of up to 2 weeks, but they accepted the application without problems. It's preferable to 3 months at bang lamung.
So if you're in Chonburi I'd recommend Nong Yai Amphur office over Bang Lamung.
Or better yet, go to the office where your fiancé is registered at for her ID card and tabien baan and they will most likely be much more helpful given her connection to the amphur.
All the best

Hi all
Just a heads up
As mentioned in title of this post- Banglamung district office is no longer Farang-friendly for marriage registration.
Even in the case you have all required documents , they still want to verify the documents by sending them to Bangkok.
So they offer to put you in a 3 month waiting list to get it done.
Their rationale is that some farangs (most likely in Pattaya area) have faked the Affirmation documents to get the marriage registered so now they will request to jump through extra hoops that no other amphur does.
So just head straight to Bang Rak in Bangkok, seems this is the safest and fastest option. Don't waste your time like I did.
Have a nice day all.
