  1. One of the biggest Tour Operators in Germany offers already, starting 15th September a Phuket Island jumping with a Tourguide, they call it,

flight from Frankfurt to Phuket, roundtrip 15 days, from Airport to Kao Lak one week, then Koh Yao Noi 4days and at the end 4 days in Cape Panwa.

Incl.Bf 1300,--€.  No mentioning of need  being vaccinated. Just passport.

In November you can come 24days to Phuket at around 1200,--€. Flight FRA-HKT,  Tourguide, Transfer, 4star Hotel and Breakfast.

Iam sure alot of people are booking this....

  2. MSG is fo certain people very bad. People whos Brain-Blood Barrier is porous have bad side effects.

If i catch food with MSG i will be the next day in bed, not able to walk without pain, migraine and light sensitivity (Need a mask for the eyes). This goes normally for around 20 hours, until the MSG is out of my brain.

So, for some people it affects badly, others do not notice.  This does not happens if i get natural MSG through for example, Tomatoes, Cheese....., it is only the artifical MSG.

Here in Thailand many cooks use it, not even knowing they do. Best example is the the Can from KNORR. They sell their yellow Box (Can) as Aromat. It has 21% of E621 and a small amount of E635. Thats a booster for the MSG by approximately times 4. So in your Box you have roughly 80% MSG inside. This is very dangerous for above mentioned People.

In Europe they sell the same KNORR Box also without added MSG. I wonder, why not here in Thailand.

So, to say it is not harmful and all proven is unfortunately totally wrong.

as long as they give me. I can easily afford to stay in Thailand for years and I don't want to go back to the US under the current conditions. Why are people so stingy about what some random guy does with his life?

Ask other countries. They do the same since always. A European tourist can not stay longer then 3 months in USA, then has to do a flight out, not incl. Canada or Mexico, to come back in. Then you have for sure the biggest trouble with the Immigration there to let you in. Most likely they send you back with the next flight.

  4. I think, it is maybe to early to decide if public or private.

My wife, Thai, just delivered a baby girl in the public hospital. We had no insurance and also we wanted natural birth.

Most private hospitals push you to cesarean, as Sheryl wrote above.

So, depending what kind of birth you prefer. But in a pregnancy alot can happen and the public hospitals can be very stressful, by having each appointment a different doctor and also endless waiting lines.

Another factor...in public hospitals your husband can normally not join the birth. In private hospitals they most likely are ready for that.

We wish you a healthy pregnancy and baby.

  5. If you have a few months time..

have a look at the coming up new Mazda Bt50, which is now going to be based on the Isuzu Pickup, just , probably, nicer interior.

Mitsubishi gives most likely the best discount for the Triton.

Have also a look at the new MG Pickup. This brand really changed from grap to now competition, with´the the help of, for example, VW/Audi. The HS is a great SUV for the price.

Ford Ranger will be soon replaced with a new model.

My friend drives a Nissan Navaro, 4WD, big engine, 4 doors,  and he doesnt like the ride...

I will take a look, can you recommend some areas that are "back to normal" ?

Drive to Meechok and Ruamchok plaza and market. You cant get a free parking space on the weekends. Its just packed.

I also was last weekend at the Motor Show, Furniture etc. in Convention Center. Seems every Thai wants to buy a new car, lines wherever you walked.

I dont know about Moon Muang Sois in old town,

and i know Nimman is quiet, but it was never a place for Thais to hang out.

  7. My wife delivered our baby 6 weeks ago in government hospital. No c-section.

We got the next day a paper, that the baby got born, had to fill in the name and let it stamp in the hospital.

Then, since my wife couldnt leave the hospital, I went to the Ampur of the hospital district, I had to, and applied for the birth certificate.

When arriving there, unfortunately i couldnt do it, because you need an Id-card with this chip on it which can run through their pc system. So only Thais can do the registration.

i had to call a thai friend, which came immediately, made a power of attorney to her, stamps 12bht, and she could register our kid and I got the birth certificate.

Then from there, you have 15 days, if iam not wrong, to register the baby in your ampur to the blue book. This was done by my wife without a problem.

I dress nice and go into my bank and ask them using my debit card...no fee

Been told just use the ATM,,I say I need MORE than the atm gives me....nicely

They do the withdrawal, I save the fee and put it back in the bank using the ATM...

I do have a thai bank acct tho..that would help

Unfortunately not all banks issueing  credit cards do it for free. They would charge me 3% if i use the Teller, using ATM is free.

Best case for a VISA Euro withdraw.

    Select 30000 Baht.

Be debited 30220 Thai Baht = 869.60 Euro assuming no fee by your bank!.

    Transferwise

869 Euro gives you 30119.71 Baht for cheap transfer option.

So even with best case ATM transaction, TW will still give a bit more.

More realistic are added fees of 1.5% to 3% by the foreign banks.

    https://www.visa.co.uk/support/consumer/travel-support/exchange-rate-calculator.html

    https://transferwise.com/

I agree KhunBENQ..but it also depends on the amount you need. I braught 60.000,--€ in the country, through Transfer Wise. The fee was so high, that i would have gotten the same Baht amount if I would have used my european Visa Creditcard with no foreign transaction fee, so only the 220Bht ATM fee on 30.000,--Bht withdrawal.

  10. We drove an Nmax 155 for several years. My wife drove it at the end for a year before we sold it, since i moved up to a 300cc scooter. I forgot, since you need ABS, not sure if the Lexi offers it.

I would put it in wifes name, is easier, you dont need residence certificate then. Also the insurance, compulsary, could be enough on a small scooter.

I have used atm's in thailand for many years, untill they came up with that surcharge and later with that conversion bs.

In the past we just got the rate which was published on the website of those banks...

And in Singapore/Malaysia they still do it the old honest way, only Thailand has to do this scam afaik....on top of that the thai baht also is much stronger now than in the past.

I just absolutely hate it when i feel scammed...i want to know all details before i do any business..that's in my nature and i was raised that way in Holland. But it's fine, this will never happen again..and from now on me and my wife will spend all holidays in decent non-scamming countries only.

Hey Fruitman, iam also from Europe. In banking 30 years. Also in charge with ATMs and more. Just wanted to let you know, we in Europe also use the DCC offer. Every year at our meetings, the big bosses in the bank were so happy to see the results, what a stupid question can bring in extra profit ???? .

So, its not a Thai thing. Most ATMs in Thailand do not odder DCC and you automatically get ,in your case would have been, the Mastercard conversion.

Besides Krungsi i got this ATM DCC offer also with TMB(Thai Military Bank). I think, because these are 2 banks, who allow us to take a max. of 30.000,--Bht out of it, instead the normal 20.000,--Bht. There is, I think one more bank in Thailand with the 30.000,--Bht Limit. But i forgot which one.

This registered business owners is a thing of the past as well as the "more than 10 liter" rule.

Never seen a buyer pass the checkout at Makro before 11 AM.

Usually I hurry to make it out before 11.

Recently I caused some raised eyebrows with the "vine winegar" at the checkout.

After some palavar with fellow staff the cashier was convinced it's non alcoholic :cheesy::cheesy:

Since long a Ritter chocolate "Rum Raisins Hazelnuts" has vanished from the shelves.

Can't remember ever having seen chocolate/confectionery with alcohol(?).

Saw it last week at Rimping in Chiang Mai, on Sale, but we didint buy it..Wifey doesnt like the taste of Ritter Sport Rum...instead we got old Christmas Ritter chocolate 2 for 89Bht.

Quite so, a quality grinder could be more important than a quality portafilter machine. The importance of grind size can not be overstated. If you use a Bialetti the coffee should not be too fine, if you use a machine you need to experiment but generally a finer grind is better.

Indeed the Delonghi Distinta is very cheap. So the benefit is that if it does break down you've not lost much, and frankly given the number of espresso machines I've had, the prices they cost and they still break down, to me a Delonghi Distinta is the best bet. That is because espresso machines are such complex machines that they seem to be prone to breaking down even with really expensive ones.

I have had the Delonghi Distinta for four years, used a lot, every day when I'm back in the Fatherland. Never broke down. The Saeco and several Gastrobacks broke down within a year. Very displeasing.

When you buy a grinder, make sure not to buy those cheap American grinders with the silly thin blades, you want a proper ceramic grinding mechanism or a good stainless steel blade. Most important is that you can choose the fineness of the grind. That's key, and not all grinders allow for this.

3 in 1 is a bit of a crime though? full of sugar and dodgy milk substitute. I tried to find G7 not 3 in 1 and couldn't find it

They have it as instant coffee, without the sugar and milk, in Tops. Looks similar as the other, in a red carton.
