So funny if you really do not understand that you are concerned only if you opened your Paypal account with a Thai address, which is so stupid from the start.

A paypal account should be opened with the address registered on your passport.

Anybody who opened a Paypal account abroad, I mean anybody smart, is not concerned by this.

I don't have an address in the UK (my home country) or a bank account there anymore so what freaking country am I supposed to open the account in? Drop the "anyone smart" part of your message, it's nothing to do with being smart... just what makes life easier.

What's the chances of Paypal / Thai government reversing their decision if we make a big stink about it?

  2. I run a hobby esports competition and use paypal to send money to the winners from my Thai bank account.

I was annoyed about their March 2022 plans (cannot receive funds) - but these new plans have turned a bad situation into a more terrible situation. I've got some patreon subscriptions and other recurring payments.

What's the solution here for me? I can probably try to pay with CC for the subscriptions but how can I pay the competition winners if I'm no longer allowed to have a paypal account here ????

Vaccines are designed and intended to keep people from dying or becoming severely ill, not from becoming infected.

Before people were vaccinated, 2% of the people infected died within two weeks. After most people have been vaccinated, almost nobody is dying. Thailand went for over 2000 deaths per day to zero deaths per day recently.

So much ignorance and deliberate distortion of the facts here I feel like I’m reading posts on a flat Earth, climate change is fake and Trump won the 2020 election bigly website.

None of you should have gotten vaccinated imo.

No they were touted as stopping transmission. There's plenty of evidence from all the usual talking heads (Fauci, Pfizer + Moderna CEOS etc).

This numpty got vaccinated with his second pfizer (and 6th jab in total) and caught Covid 15 days later. If the vaccine creates antibodies that don't help prevent you being infected even 15 days after innoculation - perhaps the vaccines don't help at all.

The reason we were wearing masks and socially isolating is because the risk from covid (including the OG strain) has ALWAYS been minuscule. Use your common sense for goodness sake, the reason the deaths are trending down is because the entire population has been repeatedly exposed to the virus and we've built up memory to it. That's how the immunse response to coronaviruses works.

  4. What about the glyphosate (Roundup) that we continue to spray on our crops here. Banned in Europe and elsewhere but Thailand gov won't do anything about it.

When you're listed along with the Philippines as countries that are a threat to the US national security due to population growth... spraying their deadly chemicals on your food under duress would make most people stop to think, but not the smarty pants in charge of this country.

I haven't been yet, but several people have recommended Wisdom Valley to me. It's outside Pattaya. There are 20+km of looping trails and hikes, and it's dog friendly.

This sounds good! I will give them a call and find out if there are camping options - doesn't look like it from the website?

I wouldn't walk around with a dog in Thailand.  The biggest problem is your 'captive on a lead' being attacked (and you too if you try to intervene) by the herds of village and soi dogs that roam freely. Have you been vaccinated against Rabies?

I'm not vaccinated but the dog is. Touch wood haven't really had a problem with Soi dogs so far, I've found a loud stamp or clap sends them scurrying away.

Can you make it to Pattaya area ?

PM me - I can link you to a web site and area where there are 30/40k of trails.  No specific camping area or facilities so you are on your own there.  But no restrictions. Very dog friendly.

Yes, Pattaya is only 2 hrs away for me. I will DM you! Thanks

  6. Hey guys,

Over the Christmas period, I'd like to explore a little bit more of Thailand and I was thinking of going on a hike somewhere with my dog and then settle down somewhere and camp over-night.

Problem is I know a lot of the nature parks do not allow dogs and I don't want to leave her at home.

Does anyone have any suggestions of where we could go? Ideally close to Bangkok although distance isn't that much of an issue as long as I don't have to get on a plane to get there.

I had these potential locations before I realised I probably won't be able to get the dog in:

Errr...... they have been giving priority to the over 60s, didn't you know that? ????????

Before you roll your eyes and discredit everything he's saying - please look at the point he is making!

Why should we give kids a medicine that has known side effects (heart issues - there is nothing such as a mild case of myocarditis!) when they are virtually unaffected by Covid? To protect a bunch of old people who have already had a chance to get vaccines/boosters if they wished to? The ones that haven't got the vaccinated, have made their choice...

There is so much wrong in your post, it’s hard to know where to start.

Masks, vaccination and lockdowns have kept hospital systems from collapse, for the most part.

Your personal experience apparently is insufficiently broad to include the 700,000+ Americans and 130,000 Brits who died from Covid, including many who thought they were as invincible as you. Letting the epidemic rage free would have killed millions of otherwise healthy people, as people were converted to mutation laboratories by the virus.

Why don't you refresh your memory on the Diamond Princess cruise ship before you claim that my personal experience is meaningless.

I have friends (some of them of advanced age) who brush off Covid as if it's nothing and we have government officials from Italy, Germany, the UK, US etc admitting to counting deaths in weird manners. So I will let two years worth of lived experience guide me better than meaningless fudged statistics I no longer trust:

Anyway back to the Diamond Princess...

    Here's a refresher: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond_Princess_(ship)#Coronavirus_disease_2019

Despite the virus circulating freely. The age corrected lethality was between 0.025% and 0.625%. Only 26% of the passengers tested positive and of them, 48% were symptomless. And these were mostly old folks. That is simply not how a truly novel virus behaves when it encounters a population without any pre-existing cross-reactive immunity.

So no, masks, vaccination and lockdowns haven't done f'all except destroy people's livelihoods, formative years of development, kept them from their loves ones and most heinously it's allowing for the selection of more deadly strains and preventing us from catching the less virulant strains (with fast mutating viruses like coronaviruses, frequent exposure to low virulant strains is how our immune system memory is built up).

But please go ahead and educate me on mutations. I'd love to hear your theories.

  9. More to the point, which big wig at the CCSA reviewed the studies submitted by Bayer?

If the horse paste isn't worth a second thought due to the shoddy nature of some of the studies/papers conducted on it, Molnuopiravir should rightly stricken off as well....

But after Pfizer and Moderna have had their turn at the trough, I guess it's time for Bayer to get their fill. Hopefully the Thai people will grow balls at some point and quiz their elected leaders as to why this extraordinary amount of money is being wasted:

BTW what happened to green chiretta?

I think you will find anyone willing to accept this consignment (other than the post office) is going to require paperwork from you that you can not possibly provide. You have no credible story that this is for personal consumption. The forms will require things like the required nutritional information to meet US labelling requirements, as well as the US FDA registration of the packing facility where the chips were sealed in their bags, and the registered US agent for that factory.  This usually is not something you can obtain. You would need to work with a Thai exporter who has the required local contacts to get everything needed.

And on the US import side, you are importing for commercial resale. That is another massive headache which will require jumping through hoops.

I think you honestly have only 2 realistic options.

    1) Give the chips away to one of the many Covid-19 food banks. There are millions of poor Thais who would thank you. Then, go to Thaitown near Hollywood, CA, give your requirements to one of the Thai grocery stores there, and let them work with their importers to try and get the required goods for you. Once properly imported into the US, they can ship the chips to you relatively inexpensively.

    2) Break your order up into very small boxes of not more than 2kg's per shipment, get 50 to 100 addresses of friends in the USA, and send a bunch of small packages via Thailand Post that can reasonably pass as personal consumption. You can then consolidate these packages once inside the USA back into a single order for delivery whereever it needs to go.

Be advised that there are no normal airmail or SAL postal services to the USA right now due to the global aviation shutdown, so you will either need to ship surface mail and accept 3 months delivery (which will be a flat fee of 550 baht per box plus 85 baht for registered tracking), or you will need to pay around 1000 baht/kg for courier post/EMS fees.

Also, you can NOT ship liquids in the mail. Don't even try.  Any drinks are a lost cause.

Come on @Monomial - I appreciate your input but not so much the pessimism:

According to this article we can get a PN number and I've managed to get a quote from a number of freight forwarders.

    https://help.cbp.gov/s/article/Article-717?language=en_US

We're talking to US customs now.... the covid-19 foodbanks will sadly not be benefiting from my transfat laden wares this time.

  11. Yikes, thanks for the helpful replies everyone!!

@Monomial It is not for personal consumption. Rich and spoiled influencers love Thai versions of popular snacks (e.g. Lays Chips with Thai flavors). It's currently the "in" thing to be doing to brazenly show off your wealth by chugging on $10 "rare" sodas for example - so the plan was for us to create mystery boxes of snacks to sell them.

With that in mind, even if we paid $500-1000 in shipping - our markup can be quite high so it wouldn't necessarily be a problem.

My job was just the logistics part and it's looking to be a real pain in the ass... do you reckon contacting a freight forwarder is the best option.

  12. Hey, I have a friend who I need to ship all these parcels to

He lives in the US. There's nothing strange in the boxes - just snacks (chips, candies etc). I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this. I have 2 problems namely

    a) Finding somewhere that ships by air and getting a quote

    b) loading and unloading the boxes (possibly condensing some parcels by combining them into a bigger box)

Does anyone have any ideas and judging by the photos a rough cost for how much it'll cost me?

  13. Hi,

I need to buy the following:

    - Soldering Iron

    - Desolderer

    - Solder wire

    - Wire strippers

Is Ban Mo open during quarantine like the smaller shops or is there anywhere else I can order and send a Line guy to pick up?
