  1. Headline: "It WAS hijacked: Malaysian official says it's CONCLUSIVE jet carrying 239 was seized by individual or group 'with significant flying experience' as PM admits tracking was 'deliberately' disabled"

Malaysian PM : "Despite media reports that the plane was hijacked, I wish to be very clear: we are still investigating all possibilities as to what caused MH370 to deviate from its original flight path."

Daily Mail sourced material really should come with a warning.

  2. Whilst others are so annoying.

Nobody said this sort of thing is unique to Thailand.

Exactly. Some people are so naive.

Corruption is in every court and legal system all around the world. What do you think happens to a guy from the streets of harlem with a public defender vs. a white yuppie with a high dollar attorney who lives in uptown Manhattan given the same crime.

  3. This is terrible. Its a common scam. My friend lost the prices of 2 tickets to England 4 years ago from another travel Agent in Chiang Mai. The Police where not interested. But threatened to arrest my friend if he caused a breach of the peace.

Another example that ripping people off in this country is fine but don't complain its not polite.

Sounds like just the sort of thing that happens in the UK. Some of you think these things just happen in Thailand. Try being a tourist in Britain and you'll soon find out that these scams are plentiful there as well. There are bad people all over the world, so no point just blaming Thais.

Grow a pair and admit that a Thai has scammed people out of a lot of money and the police have publicly declared they won't arrest him for a few more days.

Nobody's suggesting these scams only happen in Thailand, but the way they're dealt with by the Law here is ridiculous.

  4. We went to the main office to pay our bill today and to complain about the way they are doing things. They'r answer was that this is the way we do. They would not drop the bill in the mailbox because they was afraid people would wait long time before they paid. Thats why they just put the note up with 3 days limit for paying the bill, if not they close the power. My wife asked for the bill today but they didnt have it. So we just had to pay the amount that the lokal powerguy wrote on the bill.

We asked for direct debit in the bank. We could do that, but we had to have a bankaccount in a bank in the same city as the main office was. We say that we had a bankaccount in Bankok Bank in another village but that could not be used. So if we liked to have direct debit we had to change bank.

I sympathise with you. But it sounds like you were given the runaround.

To get anything changed you'll need to escalate.

Thais just aren't used to complaints and this is a typical situation many of us find ourselves in. Once you speak to the 'right' person everything that was told you before is proved to be false.

To get this sorted you'll need a Thai who isn't afraid to cause a fuss, who will demand to see the boss when necessary and who will not accept BS like 'we had to have a bank account in the same city'.

Alternatively, have your 'bill' left at a neighbours house when you're out, or prepay.

  5. I don't really believe reports of December 15th, as I have more confidence in the ability of Thais & Thailand, yes - even AoT, to be able to get things running again more swiftly than that. :D

Until the flight YOU are on runs into difficulties .

World economy, meltdown..etc. Plenty of questionable aircraft and profiteers in charge. They do not care.

All the failed airlines and travel groups etc. - The ones with the aircraft graveyards, others of the same breath, will be:

Your option in leaving here. Profit, remember "They" will fly you out..Substandard aircraft with past histories...

:o Any airline will claim civil unrest and be covered. Purchasing a ticket agrees to this. period.

Wait. Stay alive. Write a journal. Make a new year resolution to leave after then. Your life is worth more then the risks.

    :D

    Make them wait.

    are you high?

  6. This is another sad decison by courts that are politcal pawns:

THAILAND: Watershed moment for democracy and rule of law

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

    AHRC-STM-298-2008

    November 26, 2008

A Statement by the Asian Human Rights Commission

THAILAND: Watershed moment for democracy and rule of law

Already, the criminal justice system of Thailand has been reduced to an utter joke, its agencies and personnel either unable or unwilling to intervene effectively to protect public property and people's lives, or even prosecute wrongdoers. That the security forces can carry out coups on the whimsy of generals and engage in battles over trifles with those of neighbouring countries but not responsibly protect the Government House or international airport is sheer farce. That government agencies have been forced to negotiate and cut their losses rather than insist that the law be enforced is dangerous folly. And that the senior judiciary, which through a succession of highly politicised judgments has played a major part in contributing to the current mess has nothing useful to contribute when lives are at stake and the country is in greatest need of intelligent guidance is altogether shameful. About AHRC: The Asian Human Rights Commission is a regional non-governmental organisation monitoring and lobbying human rights issues in Asia. The Hong Kong-based group was founded in 1984.

The only joke I see is that statement (the misspellings are horrible - must be a Thaksin front organisation). The law is the law. PPP broke the law. Chart Thai broke the law. The judges issued their verdict in accordance with the law. While we may or may not agree that the punishment fits the crime, the punishment was correct according to the law. In my view the only positive effect of the 2006 coup was that it seemed to free the judiciary from the undo influence that Thaksin wielded over them. They seem to be acting according to "he who must not be named" direction that they rule according to the rule of law and with integrity for the sake of the nation.

I don't see any misspellings. The only word that can be spelled differently is 'judgments' but dropping the e is acceptable.

  7. I thought you were just a professional troll. You mean you actually have a business here?

Because I do too.. One that involves both tourism and shipping. Both operating just fine. We simply work with what is available, and allow the country which is gracious enough to have us as guests deal with things in its own way..

Reading through your posts over the last few days you actually say nothing. Your comments are more akin to a rather large wooden spoon trying to stir a pot... If I were you I would put just 50% of the effort you put into typing your toxic comments into working thorough these temporary issues and you might be surprised what you can achieve.

Does it annoy anyone else when foreigners do that? Or is it just me?

Get a bloody life man. Thailand is not being gracious in letting you stay here. Once you're worthless you're out. Without any grace.
