I would agree with Withnail. As far I understand they would be used like this:

ไม่เป็นอะไร - "There is nothing wrong with me" or "I am fine" is regarding a persons health & wellbeing.

ไม่เป็นไร - "no problem" or "nevermind" (referring to a situation)

Doi Chang Coffee for mind is great value. IMO it is not as nice as Doi Tung but not far off and it is a little bit cheaper.

Go to the Doi Chang coffee shop just up from the old clock tower at the end of Jet Yod. They sell premium and whole bean. They sell it in a pack of beans, so you need to ask them to grind it for you. I would advise a 70/30 mix (premium/whole bean)

A quick google of Thai Air reveals only one daily flight to CR, the 1.45pm arriving around 3.

If the papers are coming on Thai then distribution to outlets would be hardly likely much before 5pm.

One wonders why they don't put them on the Air Asia flight at 6.40am.

ถึงผลเสียผลได้ should be ถึงผลได้ผลเสีย I am sure that this is the correct way as I have been corrected for saying it the wrong way many times.

I have gone with Yoots changes.

I just think we need to understand that there are different ways of writing sentences. Just to clarify, I took our story to a couple of Thai teachers I work with and they had no problem with my addition at all (it was correct). Whilst they would have written it differently themselves, their own endings were different also. It just shows that there are more ways to write sentences with the same meaning in Thai. I even showed Yoots and they said the same thing. Whilst it was perfectly correct (Yoot being Thai) they still had their own ways of writing that sentence. So if the Thais cant agree than it shows how important this thread is to learn the different ways we all write.

No dig intented to anyone, just trying to get my message accross that there are so many ways to write a sentence with the same meaning..

I just think we are lucky to have Yoot and other Thais here to help assist.

for sadly: i think น่าเศร้าใจ literally means saddening, but would น่าเสียดาย (it's a shame, unfortunately) be closer to what you're saying?

for contains: จุ or บรรจุ does mean contain, but more for a box or a bottle i think. how about just ในตึกมี or ตึกนี้เต็มไปด้วย (the building is full of...) or คนในตึกนี้ล้วนเป็น (the people here are all...)?

น่าเกลียด: ugly, as you know. maybe นิสัยน่าเกลียด (horrible habits/manners)? or นิสัยแย่?

ที่คุณเคยอยากเจอ: direct translation from english...i guess looking at "the most.....(people) that one would ever want to meet", the "that one would ever want to meet" part is really just intensifying the message? ie. it's certainly not saying that one would actually desire to meet such people. so maybe we could say they are unbearably rude, or the rudest in the world, or something more straightforward.

i like the addition you thought of for the sentence, you really turned it around!

I think both น่าเศร้าใจ and น่าเสียดาย work ok, but I think you are right in which น่าเสียดาย probably sounds better.

I think just น่าเกลียด works ok, it was just my translation that was off, but of your suggestions fit equally as well. นิสัยน่าเกลียด sounds is good aswell.

จุ or บรรจุ

I have only ever used บรรจุ for load or pack such as in โรงงานบรรจุนำปลาไว้ในขวด

Whereas จุ can be used for containing or holding as in a bottle or building/ box etc.

Your suggestions are just as good but as per Yoots advice I was trying to use words a little less mainstream but still words that are used often enough.

It's just a saying that is used in my circles anyway (in Australia) when talking about someone who doesnt sound like a very nice person, one would say " he sounds like someone I would never want to meet"

so I will make some adjustments...

It literally translate as " I'm so charming until mywife can't restrain(herself) not to like me.

For other examples:

ผมไม่สามารถยับยั้งใจตัวเองให้ไม่ดื่มเหล้าได้ ผมจึงต้องดื่ม

- I can't restrain myself not to drink, so I have to drink.

คนเราต้องรู้จักยับยั้งใจตัวเอง

- People have to know to restrain themselves.

The definitions as I have heard them used:

ห้องแถว = town house. (Although 'tao háo' from 'town house' is often used instead)

อพาทเมนต์ = apartment/flat. In spoken language, can refer to an individual apartment, as well as the block of flats/tenement building the apartment is situated in. The difference from 'condominium' as used in Thai is rather unclear and seems to depend more on what the owner wishes to call it than the actual makeup and management of the building.

อาคารที่พักอาศัย = agree that this seems to suggest 'residential building' as opposed to a building used for another purpose.

Here is a good one that I like and hope I will get to see other examples of how others use it in a sentence.

ยับยั้งใจ = I always used this as "will power" or "resist" or "hold back" or "cant stop myself"

Example of how I use it. If you are eating a lot and people are laughing because you cant stop, you can say ยับยั้งใจไม่ได้ I cant stop/ I cant resist or I have no will power.

In a sentence I have only ever used it in a negative way and would love to see some positive sentences.

เสนห์ = charm

ดึงดูดใจ = attractive

จน = until

ไม่สามารถ = unable

ยับยั้งใจ = will power / resist / hold back

ผมมี่เสนห์ดึงดูดใจเมียมากจนเมียไม่สามารถยับยั้งใจไม่ให้ชอบผมได้

pom mi senay doong duut jai mia mark jon mia mai samart yab yang jai mai hai chob pom dai.

(My wife is attracted to my charm and she is unable to resist liking me.) If only it was true...

So as you can see by the highlighted bit, it is used in a negative way.

Does anyone use it differently and could share their own ways of using it.
