  1. My son had his first vaccination with AstraZeneca and his second vaccination with Pfizer (like many other younger persons in Germany).

Is this "cross vaccination" recognized by Thai authorities as "fully vaccinated"?

We would like to go to Phuket within the Sandbox sheme. But we are not sure, whether they would accept my son.

  2. End of January, me and my wife (we are both German citizens, 65 and 56 years old) will come to Thailand for a long vacation. We both have a 60-days-tourist-visum, and we intend to stay mostly in Hua Hin and South Thailand.

It might be, that after the first 60 days we would like to extend our stay for another two or three weeks. Will it be possible to get such an extension from the local immigration office (most probable Hua Hin)? Should we provide any specific documents in order to support our application?

  3. Hhm.

I tested a transfer bank to bank versus the use of Transferwise with 100 €.

The bank to bank transfer from by German Sparkasse to Bangkok Bank took two days (very fast). I had to pay additional costs of 10 € to my German bank. The 100 € have been exchanged to 3100 THB. The transaction showed up as international transfer in my Bangkok Bank account.

The transfer by TransferWise took two days, too. I had no additional costs to be paid to my German bank. The 100 € have been exchanged to 3300 THB. The transaction showed up as interbank transaction in my Bangkok Bank account.

So, from a financial point of view, the bank to bank transfer is no good choice to transfer money for the purchase of real estate. But the use of TransferWise is not regarded as international transfer.

I have to discuss this with the Land Department.

  4. We intend to buy a condo in Hua Hin. We have been informed, that will have to show a Foreign Exchange Transaction Form to the Land Department.

So far I have transfered money from by German account to my account at Bangkok Bank in Hua Hin via Transferwise. I am very satisfied with Transferwise, because they are reliable, fast and cheap. And their exchange rate is always very good.

But I doubt that it is wise to transfer the purchase price for a condo with Transferwise. As far as I know, they use an intermediary in Thailand. So I assume that Bangkok Bank will receive the amount in THB. And therefore they might not give us the required Foreign Exchange Transaction Form.

So, is a bank to bank transfer the only way to receive the Foreign Exchange Transaction Form? I don't like this kind of transaction, because the costs are substantial, and the exchange rate is a black box.

Or has someone managed to receive a Foreign Exchange Transaction Form after using Transferwise or other alternative transfer methods?

  5. Thank you for this tip! We might check this, once we are both in Hua Hin.

I already asked at Bangkok Hospital for some sample prices, and they are close to German levels.

Fortunately we have a German health insurance with worldwide coverage ...

  6. I intend to rent or buy a house in Hua Hin. Upfront I would like to inform myself roughly about the associated legal issues, in order to avoid severe mistakes. Later on, I would like the lawyer to check agreements etc.

Can anyone recommend a Hua Hin lawyer to me?

I already was in touch with Legal Services Hua Hin in another matter, and so far I had a good impression.

  7. During my recent stay in Hua Hin, I managed to visit the Bangkok Hospital. I had a good impression. They have a specialist for kidney deseases. But unfortunately it is one lady, and that's a kind of risk.

I also was in public Hua Hin Hospital. Communication here was more difficult, but people have been very friendly too. They don't have a kidney doctor, but a specialist visiting their hospital once a week (the specialist from Bangkok Hospital?).

  8. My wife and me are considering to relocate to Hua Hin for retirement.

An importamt issue for us is the fact, that my wife has a kidney desease. Therefore she needs regular control of her blood levels. If things are going bad, she even might need kidney dialysis.

Does anybody know, whether there are coctors and hospitals in Hua Hin, which are capable to deal with such a desease? Are there good laboratories for blood tests? Are there dialysis capacities in Hua Hin or nearby? After some internet research I have doubts.

We are coming mid of August and of course will approach doctors and hospitals. But perhaps somebody has already some knowledge, because she/he has a similar problem or knows of someone with a similar desease.

    Regards
