    Car Wrapping in Chiang Mai?

    You may want to check with the car registration office beforehand. Does the wrap color affect what color the car is registered in - or does it remain the underlying color on its original paperwork? When the color is changed by painting, the paint shop needs to provide documentation which must be subsequently filed. One might assume wrapping would be similar but maybe not worth the confusion/hassle.  Just sayin...

    Thank you ever so much. You prevented me from having either to get married (in order for my spouse to register at a hotel) or to have to stay in a flophouse that wouldn't check my passport.

    A breeze-through the handy Drive-Thru on this fine day was all it took with no need for yet another trip to the TM30 office - no questions asked.

    'Just got a rejection for online 90 day report with the explanation that I need to go see the nice lady at the TM30 shack again because I stayed in a hotel in Bangkok for 1 night before returning home to the same place as my original TM 30 in Chiang Mai.

    My understanding is that this wasn't necessary unless leaving the country. Is this back to being in effect? Anybody else miss this one?

    90 Day Report Rejected

    'Got the same online rejection a few months ago (after successfully applying for the past 2 years.) The nice lady in the TM30 office informed me that I needed a new one because the one I had was "too old." 'Pointed-out I've been in the same place since the 2019 date shown. She issued a new one & I popped over to do the 90 day report in person - all in a single afternoon!

    Immigration Hiccups re 90 Day Report and the ole TM30

    Weird…  I’ve been happily doing 90 day reports online without incident for the past year and a half or so.  However, when I filed this time (by copying & pasting the same info as always), I was rejected.  The explanation email read in part:

     

                            Contact immigration to update the (TM30) accommodation notification to date. The last declaration of accommodation (TM30) is not Chiang Mai.

     

    Over live to Immigration, I went first to the TM30 place to see the nice lady, who seemed as baffled as I was. When I produced my original TM30 slip, she accurately noted that it was dated in 2019.  “This is old!” she said (not unlike an aspiring detective.)  

     

    When I pointed out that I’ve been living in the same place since 2019, she began to grill me about being sure I had not left Thailand during that time.  Although I did want to mention that my August app was approved immediately as was my annual visa – all at the very same address – she seemed somewhat unconvinced. Thus, I held my tongue, didn’t mention CV19, just looked down at the floor and waited… 

     

    With an impressive exhalation of her breath, I heard the stamp of success before I looked up to see her handing me a brand new TM30.

    Over to the 90 days window, it seemed to take ages as the poor gal scanned and searched and scanned some more until the final victory was achieved.

     

    ‘Still have no idea what happened but did want to share the experience!

    'Took nearly 2 hours to complete paperwork for 5 unauthorized charges totaling about 2,000B at Kasikorn Bank.  At 11:41PM that evening, they rang to say they were sorry it was taking so long.  They followed up with an SMS at 5:20AM to say 2 of the 5 have been re-credited.  Fascinating (albeit somewhat painful)...

    Popped by the airport earlier today to ask the nice folks at AirAsia the very same question.  'Was told that there's no problem going from CM to BKK but will need to show double vaccine proof on the way back.  Go figure...
