I hear so many horror stories about UK NHS...
I have several members of my family working in the NHS. It's true that it is under severe stress, due to government under-funding, but manages to retain a world class service that serves the British people well.
I was treated at a world class cancer centre (Christies), promptly and with cutting edge treatment. All free. Now, almost 10 years later, I remain in remission.

If you want to know the true cost of being sick in Thailand, watch Kev in Thailand's latest vlog. Gives an honest breakdown of his medical costs. The medical insurance recommended by Immigration wouldn't have gone very far to meet his costs. Waste of money for serious illnesses.
Personally, I am self insured and could meet Kevin's costs, and more, from my rainy day fund. However, if I were to be diagnosed with cancer (again) I would be on the next plane back to the UK to receive free, world class treatment.

When I first moved to Thailand I bought a TV from them. The assistant blatantly lied about the specification of the TV.
A few days ago, I went there to do a price comparison for a new TV that I'm interested in buying. Lazada way cheaper for the same TV.

Thank you for your report. I'll be presenting my Australian Embassy letter that I obtained in the first week of January (last day they issued them on Jan 4) for a retirement extension application next week and I was concerned about whether they would accept it or not. I have no TM30, only a TM28.
I've never had a TM30 or TM28. Never been asked for them at Jomtien.

I did called an agent. Was quoted 5000B. So i chose to deal with it myself. I have a week and have to goto Bangkok anyway.
I got a photocopied letter complete with vice consul's signature from Key Visa for 150 baht. Walked in, paid my money and walked out with the letter. Immigration didn't even want me to fill my details in.
Non-O extension. Next Year Must Have Health Insurance

Neither. I self fund or return to my own country for significant medical care. Works for me.
Very rarely happens, if ever.
