  1. Hi all!

Heading to Vietnam for 3 months, myself (UK) and Thai partner as tourists - we’ve both left our jobs while we travel so are officially unemployed during the travel period.

I did the 3 month single entry application through https://vietnamvisa.govt.vn for visa on arrival (starting to think this was maybe the wrong move, but done it now) - they have sent through a ‘visa approval letter’ stamped and signed by immigration.

As this is just an approval letter, not the actual visa, I guess in theory it can still get denied at the airport on arrival (we’re flying in to hanoi), just wanted to check in your experience a few things:

    - Do you have to prove savings / how you will both be supported if staying the full 3 months? If so, how much needs to be shown?

    - How much of the 3 months needs to be booked (all flights and accom? Just exit flight? Exit flight and first accom? Etc)

    - Is it problematic that both arrival forms will say we’re unemployed? Concerned they might think my Thai partner is going to try to find work etc.

    - In general, how likely is it that we’ll have issues / possible denial on entry?

Just trying to work out if I’m safe to start booking and paying for stuff - any experience and comments appreciated!

  2. Apologies if this has been asked before - I tried to search but I just pull up loads of articles about the education system in Thailand ????

I am 10 months in to a 12 month education visa (so I've had 3 extensions already and am on the last extension). I'm a bit sick of where I am and would like to head to the other side of the country for the last 2 months, essentially abandoning the visa (as I'll no longer be at the schools location or able to continue studies).

I'm trying to find out what the implications are for ditching an ED visa in this way, in terms of being able to get future visas or entry to the country. In a years time I was hoping to return to Thailand after travelling around SE Asia a bit and do another ED visa (that time I would take it more seriously as it would be a language visa and I genuinely want to learn the language - currently I'm on a different ED visa), do you think ending this visa 'incorrectly' would void any opportunity for an ED visa in the future? Any other issues it could cause?

    Any input appreciated!

  3. Hi all,

I've had a look through the forum but can't really find what I'm looking for. Both me and my Thai partner will be travelling from Krabi to Siem Reap and plan to be there 30 days. For me, I was thinking the eVisa would be the best option, but I've seen online that because Thai's get 15 days visa-free they aren't eligible to apply for the eVisa (which makes no sense to me but... that's what it said!).

    • Has anyone successfully applied for the eVisa for a Thai national?
    • Are there any better options for us to both go there for 30 days?
    • If staying for 30 days, are we required to show evidence of onward travel / hotel bookings or savings?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!
