Is sonchai a pejorative term you use for Thai men?
Yep, it's what the foreign expat racists use to denigrate their hosts, Thai men.

The journey of this character with all his court already costs the Christians of the world a fortune!
What kind of visa will he have? Turist? Business or what else? What does it matter what visa the Pope will have? He is the Pope, shouldn't even need one!

Any half decent Chinese companies have long gone to other neighbouring countries like Malaysia and Vietnam. Thailand is just left with the scraps they have rejected.
What makes you say that?

well for those considering leaving Thailand you might consider the Philippines for a better exchange rate, currently 1 GBP = 65.6581 PHP and 1 USD = 51.0530 PHP ..I know there are many who will say the P.I. is not for them, but every foreign country has it's positive & negative arguments.. I rent a very nice apt. there for 9k php a month & the owner hasn't raised the rent in over 12 yrs now.. the utilities are low as well as food & other expenses are very reasonable compared to some other Asian countries.. also dealing will local & govt. officials is so much easier as most of the population there speak English..
Why do western expats retire in Asia?

I'm all for it, as I work in Thailand and get paid in THB like a local. Means my holidays are cheaper, YES!

Funnily enough to get the pink card you need the yellow book first. The Thai ID number for aliens and other illegals (Starts with 6 IIRC) is created in their system when they grant the yellow book. That'll then be on the pink ID too. Been there, done that. All but useless, even the military sai kaeow beach doesn't accept the pink id anymore, still double pricing.
Yup, I got my pink id card after i got the yellow house book.

This is all utterly confusing! I have a Thai wife and live in her family home. I have a yellow house book. I am on a work visa (not marriage visa). Do I need to do the TM30 reporting? Cheers in advance!

You're spoilt for choice, check out Thonglor, Phrom Phong, Asoke, Siam, Lat Phrao & Rama 9 for starters. If you want to get a bit more specific with your requirements that's fine too.
Good choices, I'd also slip in Ari.

Nope, bluesofa, sorry for having to correct you. Lactose intolerance has got nothing to do with it (it is only related to the inability to digest dairy products).
Instead, it is the lack of a certain enzyme, aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH), in a large proportion of Asians that prevents their bodies from properly metabolizing alcohol. It makes them get drunk faster, with an equivalent amount of alcohol having a much more violent effect on their system than, say, a European drinker would experience. Recovery also can take much longer than with a westerner, with hangover symptoms being considerably more severe.
Obviously, not all Asians have a ALDH deficiency, though, as evidenced by the astonishing volumes of "lao khao" that some Thai blokes seem to be able to ingest day after day at the local mom and pop shop.
Indeed, Koreans are one of the most prolific drinkers in Asia with their soju...

The total disrespect that some clowns show for their hosts is truly shocking. Being drunk is not an excuse. They should not have gotten off so lightly.

They're horrible people. Even the ones that move to states. Retrograde, smarmy, small,, cheating. Unlike the Japanese they have no true honor. They'll lie to your face. Waste your time and money. I broke two contracts due to the utter inscrutability of that clan.
Can't judge a whole race based on a few rotten apples you have come across...

Poor kid, great that he was unharmed, kudos to the guy who saved the kid, great work. The mother seemed to have her hands full and that gap at Sydenham station is way too large.
