REMARK:** This Travel Document is for the residents living in Samui who want to leave the island and come back in less than 7 days without having to do a COVID test to re-enter. No document needed to leave Samui to other destinations. This is for those who plan to return and don't want to do a COVID test upon arrival.
Does this mean one can go to Surat Thani or Koh Phangan and not get tested on arrival, or this document is only required for leaving the province? Thanks!

Simple units can be found for 15,000 baht/mo and villas all the up to 70,000 and beyond, it really does make a huge difference in this regard.
I've seen brand new apartments in Chaweng for as low as 2,500/mo (with kitchen and balcony) pre-lockdown. For 15 grand you can score a decent place for 1-2 persons, especially right now. Takeaway food from street vendors (in big aluminum pots) is 30-40 baht. Samui is not more expensive than other tourist/expat destinations in Thailand, but yes - luxury segment is also big here, so anyone can find something for themselves.

In Thailand really?
It doesn't support Thai cards yet, but the question was about farang cards. I've used Apple Pay on multiple occasions in BigB, Tesco, their mini stores, etc.

Capsule machines are an environmental disaster. I have an Asguard espresso machine from Lazada for less than 2,000 baht and it makes very decent coffee for its price. Plenty of local coffee beans to choose from.

The drivers there are insane. Not too bad now, but back when it was busy, there's no way I'd ride a scooter on the main highway. No way.
I figure most accidents were drunk tourists who never rode a motorbike before. IMO it's much safer to ride here than in Chiang Mai, where you have to squeeze between cars to avoid suffocating in traffic. All insane car drivers I saw on Samui had Bangkok plates ????

Apple Pay works in stores that have a terminal with contactless payment logo or PayWave sticker, so maybe Google Pay will work too.

So you used an agent in CM to obtain a Residence Certificate?
I was not aware that was possible.
There's an agency across the road from Immigration (as of 2019 when I last visited), they can obtain RC and let you skip the queue for visa extension too. It's the best one in Chiang Mai IMO. But there are several agents in town that can obtain RC.

I tried this with Thaivisacentre, but they won't do it because I didn't get my visa through them (I got it by myself).
BSR won't do it either. I haven't tried fatboys yet.
Can you recommend an agent?
Sorry, I only know TVC in Bangkok. The only agent I've used personally was in Chiang Mai.

Another option is to ask visa agency to get CR for you and send it by mail.

I have one but not using it. You can only top up with cash in Bangkok or from a Thai bank account, so what's the point? Just open a normal bank account.

AFAIK you can't "pause" Elite membership, it'll still run out after 20 years, even if you temporarily use another visa

Could what? The question I replied to (which is somewhat hijacking this thread and drawing it OT) was specifically about getting a Wise debit card.
To answer your question, no, you can't get a Wise card to a Thai address (yet). I've received mine to an EU address, utility bill was sufficient for verification (I'm not EU citizen). Not sure about verification in other supported countries.

Like taro root, you can cook and eat cassava root like potatoes. Domesticated varieties have less poison than the wild ones, but make sure it's fully cooked.
I haven't seen a lot of whole cassava for sale in Thailand. I think here it's mostly used for processed foods.

You can't (Thailand is problematic for Wise - other than transferring money in). If really wanting one I'm sure there'd be a way such as getting one "in" your home country and having the card forwarded to you.
Why not get a Thai bank account and top-up it via Wise as needed? I have a Wise (TransferWise) debit card, but I mostly use it for online stuff.

The form wants you to fill in your address where you stay outside of Phuket and where you stay inside Phuket, and your mobile number. Airport staff in Phuket did not ask me to see the form, just checking all for the MorChana app.

The only issue I ever had with Apple is inflated batteries. Never paid extra for warranty, but this may be worth noting:
The battery on my iPhone 6 and MacBook Pro 2015 got bloated after 3 years (AppleCare+ would've already expired), but my MacBook Air 2018 got "pregnant" after only 2 years. The cost of battery replacement at the local shop is about the same as AppleCare+.
That said, I'd only bother with AppleCare+ if you live in Bangkok or don't mind flying there to visit the official Apple Store. I've been to a new one in Central World and service is good there. Wouldn't expect much from partner stores elsewhere. You can use mail-in service, but then you'll be without a computer for a few days.
So if your battery dies sooner than in three years, you might score yourself a new laptop via AppleCare+. Though I've heard they don't always cover swollen batteries if it's still charging fine. Maybe someone with more experience in dealing with them can comment.

Never had problems when buying supplements from iHerb. Just make sure declared value is less than 1500 THB. Also, use Thailand Post and not FedEx/UPS/etc., because they always go through customs and inspected more thoroughly than regular mail.

There are some good deals on Lazada.

Transport from/to the islands Phangan, Tao and Samui
in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
Posted
KhunPer, I mean would you be tested on the other side? It's not very clear to me. Say I go to a red zone province for 7 days, can I still return without tests, or it's only valid for travel between the islands and Surat Thani mainland?
