I last used Shipito several times for Amazon purchases when Amazon didn't ship to Thailand themselves, over 5 years ago. Shipito has a choice of address for free or paid member but to avoid US sales tax the address in Oregon can be used and that address costs 10USD/m. It's worth changing from free membership plan for a month only to avoid US sales tax? I used Fedex from Shipito and no import issues to Thailand, Fedex brought straight to door and asked for 7% tax on item price at door.

I have a good news for you. Planet Express (Shipito alternative) just opened their warehouse in Portland, Oregon.

Are we now talking about a different Ko Lanta?

The one you reach by ferry from Krabi province?

My wife and I were on Ko Lanta last August and it was a great holiday.

Neither the beaches where we lived were polluted, nor others on our countless trips on a rented bike.

We were there for three weeks and can't say that there was a lot of plastic.

Still the same Ko Lanta, maybe just different beach.

Agree as I have used them for a number of years.  Good selection of material, good service, etc.

    'nuf sed.

Haha maybe next time. ???? What is the price range there btw.?

  4. The result:

The suit and trousers fit well. The fabric is probably lower quality (even if I've been told that it is their "medium" quality). When I've tried the suit in the store, I had a feeling that it doesn't breathe very well. Unfortunately, I cannot recognize the difference between good or bad fabric when I touch it. The details are made pretty decent tbh. There are a few minor issues but if you are not a faultfinder, I think you cannot spot them at all.

Overall, if you don't wear a suit every day but just from time to time to some ball, I think it was worth it (considering the speed and price). But we will see in a long time period.

Price: 7K THB (tailor made suit + shirt, tie)
    Finished in 3 days.

I bought a 6s in mbk about 18 months ago....lol,was actually looking for a second hand one but the woman pulled out a brand new sealed one and wanted 10,000 bht for it.

after questioning her and playing with the phone for about 40 minuits I bit the bullet and bought it.

3 months later back in England battery not lasting long which you wouldn’t expect it to it is a 3 year old model phone, and apple had a deal on replacing batteries on iPhone 6s for £20 so dropped the phone in apple store and went to pick it up 3 hours later ,the guy says sorry we can’t touch this phone it’s already been opened up by someone else????????????.

so I guess they are just refurbished from mbk however I just ordered a new battery of eBay and installed it myself ,phone still fine today and no other problems with it.

I've been to some local "markets" in BKK and I took the following price list, however, I have no idea what the Thai characters means:

New, not sure about the storage, I didn’t buy one as I already have a 6S+

I think it will be the 16 GB version, I have 64 GB 6S but I thought about equipping my family with 6S. This seems like a good price.

I currently use Planet Express and have generally been satisfied with them.

I used Shipito in the past and was satisfied with them as well. I just found Planet Express to be cheaper. The savings add up if you ship a lot but may not be the most important factor if you are "low volume."

    I can't comment on MyUS.

I don't use package forwarding very often so it the customer support is really important to me. I've tried Planet Express and their main added value is the customer support, not the price.

We also left Ko Lanta after just 1 day last year in August. Absolutely filfthy beaches during the low season. Thailands tourism image is at stake, as I have seen the plastic waste piling up almost everywhere in the country. Waste disposal is not a priority in Thailand. So sad to see this.

It seems that the tourism won't last for so long.

I visited Patong a couple of weeks ago. I was afraid to go into the sea. It looked like a plastic soup.

I will never visit Patong again.

Feel free to share some pictures with us.

To be fair, this shit is also on empty islands, its mostly all from the oceans. The whole ocean is full with trash... cant blame thais except for beeing too lazy to clean it up.

Yes, we can't but if they want to have some visitors, they have no other choice.

sadly things are pretty bad everywhere where rubbish flows into waterways and klongs.

You think that looks bad, try visiting India, canals are just clogged with floating trash.

Yes, it was really shocking for me when I saw pictures of my friends trip to India. Even worse than these beaches.

I hate to be the prophet of doom, but nothing can or will be done. The Thai people don't care enough about their environment and are not educated enough as a Nation to band together to force change. The government is incompetent, too concentrated on feathering their own nests and powerless to deal with the problem.  The World wide issue is not being taken seriously enough and respective governments are doing too little and are too Nationalistic to take a World view. "The World is doomed" is an old joke.  Actually, the World, the Earth, will do fine after humankind has managed to destroy itself with short sightedness, selfishness and greed.

Yes, education is really important and underestimated. With the correct mindset, everything is achievable.

The whole country is full of trash. Thailand is one of the 5 biggest plastic polluters in the world!

Looks like a great improvement to me. I went there some 5 years ago and it was a lot worse then. As luck would have it we moved on after the first day.

Improvement? Oh wow... What can be worse than this? And I don't talk about the smell.

  11. I've visited Koh Lanta beaches recently and I was shocked. The beaches were full of trash. I've realized that the plastic "deal" is real. In Asia, there is a lot of plastic waste, almost nobody sorts out the trash and often, there are no bins. Compared to Europe, it is really bad. I think one of the ways how to solve the "trash" problem is to change the mentality of people, but they don't care. What do you think about this. Can the problem be solved? And how?

Absolutely right ! Looked in these shops and the big rolls of wool and cashmere are same ones year in year out ! “Feel the quality, it velly velly good” goes the sales talk!

Sent from my iPhone using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

Their sales strategies are good. They tell you to "Sit down", give you the catalog with Hugo Boss suits and start asking what do you want "Everything" is possible for them (you leave tomorrow, they can do it), etc. I've almost got persuaded several times...

Of course they are. Open up the TripAdvisor for any of the tailors mentioned above, and you'll notice that the overwhelming majority of five-star reviews are from new accounts with no other reviews. Do you really think that tens of thousands of real people are creating tens of thousands of real TripAdvisor accounts just to leave a single positive review each of some Bangkok tailor shop and then never use TripAdvisor again?

If you want to see the real reviews, skip the positive ones and go straight to the negative. The one- and two-star reviews for some of the over-hyped shops mentioned above (Tailor on Ten and Rajawongse, in particular) make for some very entertaining reading.

I had no time to do some digging so I am grateful that you make it clear to me.

With reference to Bangkok tailors, you bet, 100%.

May I ask you why you want to get a suit made in Thailand?

Reputation of higher quality than in the West? No.

Source of raw materials? No. Wool!!!! ????

Consumer protection, such as refunds for poor quality? Not a chance.

Cheaper labour? Yes, but not as much as you think and other countries are much cheaper still.

Because it is on the tourist trail? Maybe.

It is much cheaper to get Tailor made suit here in Thailand then in Europe, for example. The materials also feels good but I am not a fashion specialist so I cannot recognize good/bad quality. Do you think it is not worth it at all?

Ah yes, the reviews. I have to snigger, I am sorry. Even back in the early 90's, the first thing you were shown was the review book with Klaus from Munich saying, "Wunderbar" and Helga, Sweden, "So efficient and my dress fits me so well," and so on.

The same scams, the same methods, just stick it online. Don't change a winning formula.

So you think that the reviews on Google and TripAdviser are bought?

Oh wow, that's bad. I thought that it will be possible to find something within 100 THB.
