Good on you Thailand.
I was tired if reading all the Thai bashing paranoid foreigners' posts.
As with everything Thai, saying it doesn't make it so. Based on the February statement, it could have been almost done by now.

So, just to clarify the situation. COVID-19 is bad and can kill.
Current vaccines do much in solving the problem.
Thailand government will not buy vaccines and will not let others buy them either.
More people will needlessly die.
Land of Smiles.

Give my beautiful healthy falang blood regularly at the R Cross in Phuket ???????? Least I can do I reckon for living in such an awesome place amongst such great people ????????
No problem with giving blood, just with Siri then wanting to price gouge me for COVID test and vaccine when Thais get no charge.
-
This has always been my hospital of choice. And, maybe I'd be open to donate blood if they wouldn't charge me for COVID test or vaccine. Doesn't seem fair.

This is complete fear mongering nonsense. The WTTC said the other day that its discrimination and not necessary. The CEO of AirAsia backed up these statements. No country is going to want to kill its travel industry. Personally i would never in a million years consider injecting any "covid" vaccine.
You can't be serious. You can't be living here.
You don't want a jab when they are proven.
And, you believe no country is going to want to kill its travel industry.
Not getting vaccinated is pure ignorance at its most. And, the tourist industry has been in decline since 2014. It's not wanted. But, it isn't politically correct to say so. So, make everything as difficult and unappealing as possible.

It would be very helpful if Thaivisa had a website that actually answered questions accurately. Most current posts are either just wise-<deleted> or inaccurate.

The PM, Prayut, has said that if you go to a hospital and test positive for COVID-19, the hospital MUST treat you at no charge. Public and private.
This was revealed about 10 days ago. Why hasn't it been widely publicized?
No one has answered this question. Does anyone know?

The resolution to the water supply problem has been known for years and could be done this year. Unfortunately, solving the problem would probably end the careers of many who can't seem to figure it out.
How much of a problem is there if no tourists come to Phuket? Will this actually reduce the shortages anyway?
-
Good for them.
They kicked it off with dropping Phuket police chief's corruption penalty from 9 years to three because he admitted doing even more things wrong they didn't know about!

It'll take a while but I don't think I'd be quite as gloomy as you are.
Hopefully, you are correct. My forecast is based on tourism increasing around the world to a point that major business' want to take a chance on it. I figure that can easily be 5 years and by then Phuket will need to be rebuilt.

As time goes by, and all the abandoned hotels, condos, and business structures deteriorate from lack of proper maintenance, it will be impossible to call it "beautiful."
If it takes 5 years for world tourism to start improving, as it will, it will take even longer for Phuket to clear away all the derelict structures and replace with new.
It's going to be a very long decade for Phuket tourism hopes.

My impression is that everyone knows that.
You remind of a man I met who told me "A whale is not a fish." I just looked at him because every child knows that. He thought I disbelieved him and continued "No really a whale is not a fish."
Actually, very few know this. If they did, there would be no reason for Biden's speech about Obamacare.

Historically, no idea suggested by a falang will ever be considered in Thailand, no matter how good.

You don't like Biden and you want to suggest he's impaired with bogus evidence Not very charming.
Actually, I don't like Trump. You want evidence? Have you ever watched and listened to Biden?
You should learn about the U.S. government, too. Many people thing the Supreme Court rules on guilt and innocence. It does not. Only on whether or not a law or action is Constitutional.

With no tourism, they've got 3 years tofade away.

Biden spoke yesterday about the Obamacare case with the Supreme Court. How it would be so bad if it was overturned. He doesn't seem to understand that the court's only purpose is to rule on whether a law is legal ... not the wonderfulness of it. Is Obamacare legal according to the U.S.Constitution?
Biden also had a difficult time reading the script and talking without a script. He's not going to make it, folks.
Close attention should be paid to Kamala Harris, since she'll be President in a short time.

Good idea to finally end the notion that Thailand wants tourists. They've been working towards this for 6 years.

With tourism not viable for many years to come (10-20 years?), why spend money on things to serve them? Wouldn't it be wiser to spend the money over the next 10 years to remove and clean up that many sites of deserted hotels, condos, and other buildings?

What you are not told is that Thailand hasn't wanted foreigners and their ideas here for many years. They tend to upset the apple cart and the golden goose.
