National defense???..what a load of <deleted>...the only people they need to defend against is themselves and their idiotic driving skills....
Sorry, no need to argue, this is purely Thai people concern, they think & do hopefully what they are tought or want. Any critic remain only unuseful and not polite talks from guests.

Get figures from 7th April to July to actually get the right feeling of the disaster. Jan to end March quite normal year on year

You'll be lucky to get people in the thousands but more like hundreds if they have to quarantine for 14 days and pay for it .
There wont be tourists, only stranded outside foreigners whom must be back for personal biz or family reasons

Non sense from beg of bubbles proposals, guess same non sense coming up. Good fight against virus do nt match with total failure to save the economy & actually the poor people. Some investments in correct testing machines at airports arrival instead of tanks, + usual directives now to protect transmissions should be more than efficient and enough

Exactly. I suspect that there will be numerous hoops to jump through, faulty, buggy websites to navigate, forms to be filled out in triplicate. Trips to some ministry office in the middle of nowhere (extra taxi fares) and days worth of headaches all to save a few hundred dollars. This would be a good time for them to learn the KISS method. (keep it simple, stupid)
Why make things simple when making things extra complicated provide thousands of usefull government jobs to ease the country control !!! ?? Like in socialist France...

No chinese tourists will come for long time, not to any responsible in Thailand but up to China government, they will prevent their peple to come by order or hassles like set a quarantine when back from abroad, they do favor local tourism like Thai government do at best..

If and when the Chinese do come flooding back, will they be required to undergo a 14 day quarantine at their own expense?
No, I didn't think so.
Forget that, Chinese government will order their peple to visit China, like Thai tell us not to go abroad of face lot of hassles when back... Just political bla.. Bla.. Bla...

So its not the government keeping them closed its the owners thinking it wont be profitable if they have to follow the rules.
I don't get it what is the problem with the 50% capacity. I mean its not as if they would be at 100% capacity in low season anyway.
Just try to take the seat of a guest and see why you should go to be bored for having a drink there with so many restrictions, its a yes!! Open, but better hang yourself

Looked like a handful of expats just sitting around Lamai having a few beers... looks grim. Even if the borders open this year, not sure we are going to proceed with our previous reservation on Samui. Have a feeling a lot of places will be going under or not have staff in time for high season.
Forget about high season anymore for at least 2 years. We can only start to see the economical damages, chaweng is leading towards being a ghosts town with closings and bankrupcies

Glad that this man will recover the Smile ????
I got few friends married w Thai wives, 4 out of 5 delighted. Got more friends telling me about girl friends cheating, since at the end they got the nick name of sponsors, but also many whom are happy with this situation, all into all, I guess its about the same in most countries or there wont be that many divorces around the farang world. You are lucky or unlucky thats the conclusion.

Big mistake to put down the ferries biz, then costs over high, time to build as well over too long, why not a sky train good enough, cheaper, faster to build i. E..

You do have a chance to get the money back, but it might take some time and effort to do so.
First of all, if you invested money in the business and you received all of the correct documentation, and the business later went tits up because of mismanagement then there is, realistically, very little you can do. It would simply be considered a bad investment.
If, however, you lent the money to them and have proof of the transaction i.e. a bank transfer, then you could file a claim for the return of the money. There are all sorts of options here but you will probably need a lawyer to assist you - and lawyers cost $$, obviously. It IS worth pursuing. Let the lawyer do all the work.
Contact Siam ADR Bkk, Daniel, with docs in hands he will help you first with a pro consultation over y chances, if docs well set and personal loan signed you have a good chance over the years to come????????

Is that a photo of the minister attempting to 'lure' tourists to Thailand?
It looks more like he's ready to strangle the tourists with that hand gesture.
The immigration dpt is more for all farangs out rather than bad guys out good guys in, so why dont those 2 dpts work hands into hands to welcome foreigners and let them spend for the benefit at the end of the country & Thai people?

Kao Lak clean, nature, new resort, wonderful. Good for Chinese, good for farang family and group. Tour company like to recommend. Good package for tourist, free massage, free cocktail, free thai cooking class. People like it.
Pattaya so dirty, rubbish need a lot of caucasion who dollar now very weak.
Chaingmai air so bad, not even the thai people will go now. No beach. For what?
Phuket, the chinese start to forget about the sunk boat. Phuket have place for everyone, India, caucasion, Russian, and Chinese. Patong for nightlife, other town for nature and relax. Shopping. Some 50/50.
Yinn think.
2020 south go up have very success.
North terrible,
pattaya not good.
41,620,500 will come.
welcome to thailand. Have a good time!
As a boutique resort in Samui, I foresee 50% lay off staff for 2020 to let the resort survive about 30 to 40 % less occupation.
Bangkok airways monopoly offering only over expensive tickets added to never enough flights during high season allowed by government, cannot bring enough tourists anymore to fill up correctly ever extented numbers of facilities through numerous new hotels & resorts. This, including a super growth of Aibnb offers on the Island those last 2 years.
Need to also take account of fed up tourists basic concerns over the ever deep problems of trash and noise polution by the main road (due lack of original exhaust pipes on bikes and cars)
We still suffer some electricity cuts, some shortage of water, then wifi connections not fully cleared, + the reputation of dangerousity of the roads not helping, it is said that for a small Island population, an average of 3 people die and 50 are injured every couple of days.., not forgetting Taxi meters scams i.e...
We enjoyed some great time, its over for at least 2 or 3 y till above points can be somewhat taken care off by the central and municipality governments bodies. Good luck to Samui..

Most likely he will just do the normal thing and tell barefaced lies. Can't have tourism numbers going down now can we?
Those statistics are absolutely a deep joke, set by incompetents based on manipulated figues, i run an htel, friens as well here and there over Thailand, we suffer 30 to 50% drop in occupancies against same low season last year.. Numerous resorts will heve to close down from rhis end month till end November.... Sorry for the 100.000 and much more thousands of jobless staff...

Get in early so you can snag a bargain 29 sqm hotel room for 100,000 GBP, you'll only have to wait until the middle of 2023 for completion. I'm sure you'll get on well with your 3,600 neighbours, very exclusive. Should be interesting to watch this one in the current climate.
May be endin full of dust instead of tourists if government cannot boost in investments and marketing + good decisions to please the "good guys" instead of hassling them...
