The white bits make the pedestrian easier to see, and therefore a better target! ☺

I usually find that the pedestrian crossings are well placed, no-one stops but they are usually placed far enough away from a corner to be in a place that is safer to cross than others. Besides which I have wondered if you were hit crossing 300 metres from one, your insurance company especially if foreign or travel insurance, might try to wriggle out of paying saying that you ignored a "safe" place to cross

Well actually people opened Bangkok Bank accounts for that very reason!

Has anyone with a Kasikorn Bank account found that their monthly transfer this month has been coded differently ie if Transferwise are using Kasikorn this month as an intermediary bank for international transfers, then did the 65K show up as FTT this month or a SMART transfer like those of us with Bangkok Bank accounts?

Well that's Transferwise out of the loop. SWIFT from UK bank, more expensive but FTT for sure.

Not necessarily. My overseas bank used an intermediary bank (Citibank in Bangkok) to send my SWIFT transfer from my Australian bank to my Bangkok Bank account and so my international transfer was coded as a domestic transfer!

I have used TW for a long time. They are aware of the problems expats in Thailand are experiencing here but so far have shown no concern. I am not suggesting they should - immigration requirements are no concern of there's. I though will use Swift UK bank to Thailand until they do. Up to them. The loss overall is minimal compared to the hassle if you get the SMT code.

There is no guarantee that a SWIFT transfer will result in your transfer of funds being correctly coded as an international transfer in your Thai Bank book. In May I transfered the equivalent of 65K from my Australian Bank to my Bangkok Bank account using a SWIFT code. Because my Australian Bank does not have a relationship with Bangkok Bank they used Citibank in Bangkok as at intermediary bank and so my SWIFT transfer from Australia ended up being coded as a domestic transfer. The Bangkok Bank manager was adamant that this will not fulfil the criteria for immigration and advised me to use Tranferwise in future!
