  1. There may be further clarification / changes closer to end June when the formal rules are gazetted. However, based on news reports from Saturday, travellers may be asked to show either a vaccination certificate or recent Covid test results. If they haven’t got this proof then they may need to be tested at the airport.
In other words, get a test done before you arrive or risk being held up at the airport for testing

The category of the non immigrant visa you used to apply for the extension of stay does not affect the required documents you need unless it was a Non-OA visa.

You will not need proof of any proof insurance to apply for your extension of stay.

There have been not changes done for the requirements to apply since your last extension.

    Many thanks, Joe!

  3. Hi! Does anyone have reliable info on Maehongson Covid rules. Friends are wanting to return to their home there. They’d be coming via the Phuket sandbox and then to MHS by car, stopping off briefly in Prachuab Khirikhan province (a dark red zone)

Can non-Thais enter the province now?
If so, are there pre-registration and quarantine requirements for those arriving from a dark red province?

We all know rules are not always enforced, but they need to know the official requirements

    Thanks!

There is absolutely no scientific evidence that wearing a mask outdoors is necessary or helpful to the wearer or others. Wearing one whilst driving a scooter with no helmet is the height of folly. One practice is silly, the other regularly fatal in dear old Siam.

How would you propose to test it “scientifically”? It’s practically impossible. So, I am guessing you have no reliable scientific research showing mask wearing outdoors is useless.
To get scientifically reliable research you need two groups of similar volunteers, in similar locations with similar lifestyles. They will be divided into two equal groups, one wearing masks 24/7 and the other never wearing a mask. They then need to go about “normal” life but with one big difference - they must be outdoors all day and night every day for the entire test period. Then the covid infection rates in each group are measured and compared.
Anything less than normal life (and only lived entirely outdoors) would pollute your research. In practice this is not going to happen because they must either change their lifestyles to be outdoors 24/7 or they cheat and go indoors to sleep or do essential shopping or whatever.

Unless and until mask deniers come up with reliable evidence that masks genuinely don’t protect in close social interactions in crowded outdoors places, I’ll stick with the recommendations from scientists and doctors - and stay well upwind of the mask deniers

  6. My retirement extension is due for renewal in November. My original visa was a Non-B so I didn’t need the general health insurance at last year’s renewal.
I have not left Thailand at all in the last year. My local immigration office is Hua Hin.
Does anyone with actual recent renewal experience know if the Covid insurance policy is now required for renewing in country?
    Thanks!

I just went onto the online reporting and completed the required fields on page one and got this message when I clicked submit I always get due to an entry prior to 2013.

The makes me think it is certainly working. What are you getting when you try?

    Exactly the same as you

I’ve seen that message before though when the underlying system behind the interface is down

You're on an "automatic extension", not an exemption.

Thanks for the unnecessary correction. The context makes it clear I knew what I was asking about

BTW The Government PR Dept says “Foreigners with a permitted period of stay, who are due for the 90-day report between 1 May and 31 July 2020, are temporarily exempted from reporting in this period. However, once the situation is resolved, they are required to apply for visa extension and adhere to the 90-day reporting as specified by the regulations.”

  9. My last online 90 day report was more than 3 months ago so I’m on the “exemption” until 31 July. Does anyone know if I can do a report online now or am I somehow still overdue and do I need to go to an immigration office? I’m trying to avoid the gridlock in August (or whenever the exemption eventually ends)

The online system was down for enhancement yesterday but today it still gives me the standard “contact an IO” message
(sorry if this question has been answered elsewhere but I’ve hunted for an hour and found nothing)

  10. Does anyone know (as opposed to uninformed guesses) when we  would then need to do the next 90 day report if our normal date is before the end of July?
    Seem to be 3 possibilities:

    1. Immediately after the ‘amnesty’ ends on 31 July

    2. 90 days after the amnesty ends

    3. 90 days after the missed normal report date

I am hoping It’s this third one as the first two possibilities would overload the process with an abnormal number of reports

    Thanks!

    Hello,
I think we have to wait for all the stores to open, because there can be a lot of changes.
But from memory, there is one, in front of N ° 51 and 53, on the left going towards Cha Am.
Next to the old immigration, now the tourist police, (between 35 and 19) there were regular furniture exhibitions.
But is it a piece of furniture woven from rice straw?
    Good hunt.

Many thanks! Will have a look up there!

  12. Had to drive from southern Prachuab Khirikhan province to Bangkok and back on Friday. (Urgent and unavoidable trip)

We were stopped at a health checkpoint on the Hua Hin by-pass just afternoon crossing into Petchaburi province. Took temperatures, gave us a piece of paper as confirmation and that was all. Saw 2 more checkpoints (one at the Rama 2 weight station) but we weren’t stopped. Everyone was wearing masks and there was hand sanitiser being used everywhere we stopped.
On our return journey there was a very, very slow 5-10km tailback at a checkpoint north of Khao Yoi.

Don’t assume traffic will be light and driving easy if you need to travel. Into Bangkok was about 75% of normal. (That was early afternoon). Out of Bangkok in early evening was about 50% of normal BUT the trucks are taking advantage of the quieter roads by using all available lanes - it was especially dangerous after dark

  13. Please can anyone saying they know of provinces or districts with travel curfews/bans:

    1. Name the province or district

    2. Give as many details of the curfew restrictions as possible

    3. Advise the source of the info. Official announcement, news report  (which paper, channel or webpage), word of mouth, gossip at the local bar, whatever!

All this will help us know what’s going on and how much additional checking we need to do to verify the info
    Thanks!!!
