  1. Bed Supperclub WAS a viable option. But they're fully booked for this Friday night. I was thinking Scirocco or Face. But is there anything as FUNKY as Bed?

I'm NOT a fan of Cy'an at the metropolitan, no ambiance.

    Cheers!

  2. I just got one for xmas and it is a nice phone i dont know how to use the f@cking thing though, i cant get my telephone nos off ma sim to the phone or view the nos on the sim or if someone calls its just a no displayed no names, besides that its ace! :o

FF, Just put the SIM that has your address book into another phone with bluetooth or a serial cable, then import or sync those numbers into address book application on your computer. Then put the SIM back into the Iphone and sync with Itunes, voila the address book contents are on the Iphone.

  3. So I'm toying with the idea of buying myself an iPhone

DO IT, Best phone I ever had, been using mine in LOS for nearly 4 months. Only thing that doesn't work is the voicemail.. get one, but don't waste your money on a skin for it. Don't need them. GO ON, DO IT, DO IT!

  4. THANKS! works brilliantly, took a few tries with a text editor, but worth it.

A tip, if you are having problems, is to choose to edit the tracker-info of a torrent and remove the above cache-tracker. It solved my problem from the last two weeks.
  5. Just wanting advice on the latest and greatest party places for a group of lads to visit in the late days of December/early days of January anywhere in Thailand?

No specific type of fun required. Really just wanting to drink, eat and be merry. Mostly single guys that will be looking to socialise with other party goers. Will require daily activities like beaches, pools, jet skis, island trips etc.

Additionally advice on the best place to base ourselves for this party holiday would be appreciated...

Thank you in advance to anyone taking the time to respond.

    OOH OOH I know!!!!!! :D

    ermmm

    Pattaya? :D:o:D

  6. My Thai girlfriend, and her sister are cheap. Thrifty, penny pinching, tight economical, whatever.

WOW! :D They should start a school, :D or a dating service :o , or both.. Are you sure they're Thai? :D

  7. Thailand, with 82% of the population saying that immigration is not good for the community.....'

So, 82% of the Thai people who were questioned apparently said that immigration is not good for Thailand.

    Here here! PLUS..

It seems when a Thai hears immigration they think of uneducated Burmese, Laotians, Vietnamese and Cambodians.

I found this article on Migration News:

Thailand has been grappling with an influx of migrants since its economy began to boom in the early 1990s, and today has an estimated two million migrants, most from Burma, Cambodia and Laos. Thai migrant policy allows employers to pay a fee and register the migrants they are employing, which defers their removal for a year or two (there are an additional 143,000 expatriates, mostly Japanese and other nationals associated with foreign investment in Thailand).

  8. Hey, I feel a bit cheap and lame for asking this. But a really good Thai mate is going to become a monk, maybe for 3 months, but more likely for ever. His family are broke farmers and have dropped hints that he needs a bit of money to pursue what I thought is a very cheap vocation.

Apart from robes, maybe sandals, one of those care packages from macro and the bus fare back home what other expenses is he going to encounter?

I'm just concerned I'll give too little and be asked for more, with the loss of face for all, or too much and the family will just have a massive piss up in his "honor"

  9. I got hit up today for a 30,000 bhat loan from a middle class thai business person and very good friend.

It's not a huge sum, but he's crossed that line.... So depending on how good a friend he is, I would either:

Think of it as a gift. So 'if' or 'when' he fails to repay you, he won't lose face.

    OR

Ask to buy a part of his business instead, make you sort of like a 5 or 10% share holder, you could get 5 or 10% of his profits until he buys you back out. That way he saves face by you letting him believe you're taking this opportunity to invest in his business, not give him charity.

But I often ask would-be borrowers:

Can't you sell or pawn something?

If you have good collateral why won't a bank or your family loan you the money?

  10. I'm about to renew my passport and am concerned about needing my photos counter signed, is this only necessary when applying by post?

Don't worry, through the post your old passport with the your old photo in it is enough proof that your new photo is really you. I found this out AFTER I went to all the trouble of getting my new photo signed by a Doctor, although anyone with a PHD will do, even a lawyer at a pinch. Also they didn't care about it being a British Citizen. But you don't really need to bother unless you're replacing a lost passport.

  11. Cathay Pacific Lax BKK through Hong Kong with only an hour layover suppose to be pretty good. About $850.00 round trip, Barry

Like I said, JAL is the cheapest

just got this from a consolidator:

    > > $870 plus tax with validity up to 6 months

    > > $825 plus tax with validity only for 30 days.....

  12. I use Citibank in California. When I moved to Thailand several years ago I changed my address to Thailand and there was no problem. I also changed my US credit cards addresses to Thailand and again no problem. I have NO US address. I still have a CPA in California and he prepared whatever paperwork that needed to be done and I have had no problems at all.

I used the Citibank bill pay service to settle up my utilities and still use it to pay my credit cards. Everything is done online.

Same here works great, using Wells Fargo. But be aware if you use a PO BOX or a mail drop service (that has a suite or #) it DOES affect your credit, I saw on a credit report something like "WARNING! MAIL SERVICE CENTER"

  13. I have a Ford Hi-Rider that gets terrible mileage when pushed hard. Seems to be turning too many RPMs. Anyone had experience with getting the dealer or shop to change the differential?

I've had the rear differential ratio changed in a couple of trucks, once to fix a broken diff, from 3.88 to 4.11 and the 2nd time just to get the higher top speed. I can't remember the exact ratio, but I had it done by an independant shop both times. I would never go to a dealer for something relatively simple like that.

But you won't get fuel economy improvements by going faster at the same RPMs, there are no free rides, remember:

Drag should be proportional to the square of speed.

    R ? v2

  14. Hi all-----Any suggestions on which airline would be the best. ( LA to BKK) The fares are similar.

Are the 747-400's & 300's the newer 4 engine aircraft or are all trans Pacific crossings multi engine? The 100's & 200's sound like older models??

I've flown JAL through Osaka 7 or 8 times, they're consistently the cheapest through US consolidators. And the Kansei layover is only about 45mins, and they have free Wifi everywhere. :D

In a pinch China Airlines is OK, via Taiwan, but expect a 4 or 5 hr layover in a pretty dull airport. There's no free wifi :o

    Both those carriers use 747-400s

Don't expect any significant breaks on seat prices until SIA gets going with the A380s, the seats are wider. Also when US bombs Iran, expect fuel surcharges to double :D , but flights out of the US to be empty :D .

As far as service provided in the air, if you take a pill, who cares?

  15. Moderators kindly advice the above member that he is misusing the registered copyrighted name and logo on this forum.

Hi there Thaising, thank you for your concern of breach of copyright on our brand logo. I wish everyone in this world was as diserning as yourself. As part of the managment team of Lacoste SE Asia and the owner of several Lacoste stores within the kingdom you will find that i am well within the law of displaying the Lacoste logo.

    (Homer Simpson) DOH! :o
