Today I was at Korat Immi. I had 2 normal white pages with 2 color photos on each page. I was very happy to have an online appointment. The waiting room was full, but I had to wait only 10 min and my number was called. Do not forget to be around 30 min before your appointment there so that you have enough time for filling out some additional papers. The service was excellent and friendly as always.

Interesting, swissman. So color seems most likely what they want and a bit surprised they accepted only 4 photos. But 4 photos is fine with me, if that's all they require. Maybe 6 is just what people generally think is required. I usually give 5: 2 of house front (close up with number + whole house), bedroom, kitchen, living room.ย

    ย

Those 'additional papers' add a bit to the time, but you're right, the appointment system works well.

I have to go tomorrow to Korat Immi for marriage extension. I made 2 pages normal printer paper with 2 color photos each. If they want B/W I can get a copy opposite the street. More important is that they can see the house number.

Yes, you're probably right about the house number's importance, swissman53. ๐Ÿ‘

    ย

(Sorry, did you mean to say that if they want 'color', you can get copies across the street? You said B/W. Did you mean color?๐Ÿ™‚

By the way.....if you did mean to say that you have made B/W copies, and they accept them ok, could you please let me know, swissman? I would really appreciate it.)

Always better to go the 'whole hog' with Korat, they say different things on different days.

Agree. Better to do that than not do it, but was just hoping that someone in Korat might reassure me that they'll accept B&W, no problem. To save me some hassle, that's all.

But again you're right. Best to go the whole hog if possible. ๐Ÿ‘

Not quite framed, but they supply A4s withย  ;ย  name........... printedย at the top and ; signature...........at the bottom, to which you then have to use their glue stick to attach 2 photos to each A4 supplied,

6 photos x 2 copies, it's like being in a kindergarten, and not only that when they come for the home visit they take the same photos, so that's 18 photos they have all up.ย

Well, that's a lot different from that required by Korat IO, I must say. Something I should now feel quite thankful about perhaps, after reading your comments!

(You know, I wouldn't mind so much about it all if it was completely standardized and applied the same by each office, consistently.)

    Thanks for your comments ๐Ÿ‘

Have your photos saved on your phone or a usb stick and print your black and white photos. In case the Io doesn't accept the black and white you can still go to a nearby print shop quickly.

    Yes....that's a very wise suggestion, Bigz!ย

    ย

If I can find an old USB that isn't 'problematic' with bugs, that I should have thrown out years ago! ๐Ÿ˜‰ (No, just kidding.....I'll go mad and buy a new little cheapie one! ๐Ÿ‘)

    Thanks Bigz. ๐Ÿ™

I don't no about Korat but my IO must be glossy and in colour, just printed copies are not allowed. The photo shop we use he can just do it just using the QR scan.

Wow, your local IO is pretty fussy.....glossy?!ย

    ย

(Do they need to be framed too?! ๐Ÿ˜‰)

    ย

Korat IO has always accepted my colour-but-printed copies....until now anyway.

    ย

But your comments, brianthainess, do make me think that it's at least very possible that Korat might get picky about colour rather than B&W....especially if they are printed on non-glossy A4 standard.ย

    Thanks for your reply. ๐Ÿ‘

As you are making your turn R. into Korat Imm. off the Soi. their is a shop

that does photocopies and mugshots for visas on your L. Across the Soi.

    from Imm.

If they don't take the B&W pix's, she probably can do color from your files.

    I've used it before.

    rice555

Yes, I agree. ๐Ÿ‘ I thought maybe that could be an option, rice555. If they don't accept B&W, then for sure that shop will have the means to produce colour ones if required, as long I remember to have that file with me. ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘

You could ring Korat IO and ask them directly if they accept B/W photos

    That's a great idea, Mutt, if it's possible. ๐Ÿ‘

    ย

But from experience I've found that trying that has been really difficult, just getting through. Actually 'impossible', as I never did get through.....though that was a few years ago. I'll give it another try. ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘ Cheers.

I always take colour... they might then tell you black and white is OK for next time...but just to be on the safe side and not waste a journey for a few extra baht I would just take colour ones... they can be very picky there on a bad day...( or a good day)...

I always take colour too, except this year my printer's playing hardball with colour. Seriously clogged print heads, etc. (B&W's fine though for some reason.)

    ย

But like you say, best not to waste a (long) journey just saving a few baht by not getting a shop to print them off. ๐Ÿ‘

  10. Like I said, maybe really dumb question,ย  but does anyone know if Korat/Nakorn Ratchasima Immigration need photos of spouse & house etc (annual marriage extension) to be in colour rather than simple black & white?ย

    ย

(In my defence.....and in my experience....each IO can have their own peculiar 'wants and desires'.....some making sense, many not. And they can change their requirements at sadistically random times without notice, bless them. ๐Ÿ˜‰)

    ย

Comments allowing for unambiguous confirmation one way or the other appreciated. ๐Ÿ‘

Extensions outside Thailand are never done.

    ย

Whether you need insurance or not is determined by the visa you start with.

    ย

O-A available outside Thailand only requires insurance for the initial visa and all subsequent extensions in Thailand.ย

    ย

O visa obtained inside or outside Thailand requires no insuranceย for the initial visa and all subsequent extensions in Thailand.

    ย

Obviously the best choice is to start with an O visa not an OA visa.

    ย

    ย

Thanks a lot for that very clear breakdown of what's what with OA & O re health insurance requirements, Jingthing.

    I really appreciate it. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ™.

Starting with an O vs. O-A visa makes the difference.

If you start with an O-A (obtainted outside Thailand) then you do need health insurance for that including all subsequent extensions.

If you start with an O visa, no such requirement.

Don't try to understand the logic of that. There isn't any.ย

So, an annual retirement extension obtained in Thailand does NOT need health insurance and such an extension obtained outside Thailand does?ย

I'm not disputing what you say. You may be right. But I thought it was the other way round, ie, obtained in Thailand = health insurance required; obtained outside = not required.

    ย

(I don't actually know the facts of it as I'm on a marriage extension, but may switch to retirement in future, so I would like to know.)

Currently have HP Inktank wireless 410 but have had nothing but problems with it. So now looking for new printer and thinking as I only print about 200 pages per year that maybe cartridge printer is the way to go.

My budget is a max of 10,000 Baht, any recommendations?

My Epson L210 has been totally reliable and generally first class for about 5/6 years now. About 4000 baht new. When I buy next it'll be a more up to date wifi job, another Epson (L3250...about 5000 baht).

Whilst we're discussing 90 day reports can someone answer me this. I used to do my report online. My last 2 have been rejected. No notification as to why they were rejected. I can report in person at Buriram and I believe that if the computer system was down then the whole system is affected. But no. And I can't believe that in the 6 months they've been down nobody has been able to fix it.ย ย

Have you by any chance failed to do the TM30 thing after staying in a hotel somewhere or returning to TH after being abroad?ย

Just wondered, cos recently a pal of mine got rejected online, for what I think was most likely that reason, though the specific reason for his rejection online was not made clear by immigration.........who apparently don't think giving a reason the most obviously sensible thing to do.ย

    ย

Of course, if you're always on top of the TM30 thing, ignore my comment. ๐Ÿ‘

I understand. If you want to continue with AIS, do so via the link that I posted. Otherwise, itโ€™s quite likely that the free trial will end and nothing else will happen. Perhaps do it a few days from the end of the trial. Youโ€™ll have the choice of 89 baht; with only Music videos having advertisements or 139-159 baht for the full package. Just make sure there is enough credit each month, if itโ€™s a Prepaid SIM

Ok, thanks for that advice. I'll definitely check out that link. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

    ย

If there is hassle paying via AIS, apparently you can pay a yearly 1590 baht, which I could possibly pay just once a year via use of a relative's credit card.....assuming they're cool with that. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Did you actually follow the instructions given via the link that I supplied?
If you followed the instructions, the first month is free and then the next three months will be 139 baht. If you did it another way, then who knowsโ€ฆ

    Look here:ย https://www.youtube.com/paid_memberships
What does it state via Payment Method currently?

    ย

    Thanks for responding.

    ย

No I didn't use the link you kindly sent, but just got there via youtube and clicking on the Premium option and following a few simple steps.

As I recall, the payment methods included a range of options but only one that I figured would be suitable and that was AIS as I have a package.....forgetting that the package essentially is one belonging to my wife and not in my name, thus possibly presenting difficulties later at end of 1 month trial.ย

I was required to indicate my preferred payment method in order to be confirmed as taking part in a one month free trial. No other specific AIS payment details were asked for at this stage.ย

I suspect the name will be an issue and she will have to start a new subscription to get past that issue (but who knows - might be a breeze).ย  Otherwise wife could start a subscription herself?

I just funded for one year using a US credit card with my Thai address but not sure that will still be available once you took the AIS path.

Yes, I think it may be an issue. I'll ask at AIS when my wife (whom my AIS package is named under) is available.ย

I'm replying as you directed this query at me. I have little advice to offer you as I handle financials in a very different manner to yourself. I live remotely and travel to my little town infrequently. I don't use my phone for any financial purposes as I consider them to be an insecure device against theft and hacking. (I am aware of Sinc problems associated with Google and others.)

My credit cards are never used at ATMs. I do all transactions on-line (3BB) using variously; Wise, Lazada, and similar. I transfer required household funds to the wife's account; she does the daily shopping and face to face contacts.ย  I rarely handle cash myself.

Thanks for replying. I certainly feel the same way about financial services done on one's phone, though my wife is keen on it!

Also, by logging in to my Google account, I can read my home country news site that normally requires an expensive subscription.

I paid 1590 for a yearly sub. I hate having to do these things every month.

Old Croc (or anyone reading this), I went for the Premium 1 month trial yesterday. When I initially completed the basic info requirements, they asked about payment options.ย

As I don't have a credit card I went for the AIS option as my phone package is through AIS.

They didn't request more specific details about that AIS option and accepted the application for the trial etc.

All good. Love the ad free premium so far.

    ย

Problem is.....the youtube subscription is in my name, but the AIS package is in my Thai wife's name.ย

When it comes to starting the payments at the end of the 1 month trial, how will the payments be facilitated through AIS, especially because of the 2 names involved causing confusion?ย

(By the way, I would actually like to pay theย  yearly fee.)

I'm a cash over the counter guy. I'm just not familiar (ok....dumb as a rock, I know!) with these more up to date, alternative online payment systems. Any advice? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ™‚
