OP, I understand your thinking. There have been reports on TV of the io basically handing the affidavit without a word being spoken.

Odd report where the io has been less forthcoming and person needed to plead their case. Personally I would take your embassy letter along but produce it as last resort.

Good luck and please report your experience back.

That's exactly in my mind, use it as the last option in case I'm interrogated or something similar. Thanks for your suggestion.

I sent an email request stating the reports and recent concerns due to reports of certain immigration officers. Thus tried to get a new standard letter from US embassy regarding these concerning reports. Again the embassy clearly states they would not issue these letter due to the fact that it wouldn’t be required but would be a charge, assuming it’s the 1900baht extension fee. See attachment

Thanks, but my embassy is not the US embassy.

Having a letter from you embassy is not required to apply for the 60 day extension. The will give you a affidavit to complete complete with the reasons you require the extension.

I suspect your embassy is issuing a standard letter and don't want to change it.

    Thanks Ubonjoe.

The reason why I asked for such a letter is mainly due to numerous reports that people are asked to show a proof that embassies are not issuing the letters. Since I got one and in case I will be asked for one, should I ask the immigration officer if I can apply without one? I hear some people being turned away and asked to either present a letter next time or any proof that their embassy doesn't issue one. Any suggestions on what I could do to extend for 60 days in case my embassy doesn't agree to edit the letter? Thanks.

  4. Good morning,

I am creating a thread regarding an issue/confusion I am currently facing. My embassy is one of the embassies which still issued my a letter regarding the extension of permit of stay during this post-amnesty period. Even though I explicitly stated that I'd like an extension of 60 days in my e-mail, I was sent a letter in which it asks the immigration to extend my stay until the 30th of December (that is, for 30 days regarding the end date of my current extension). I am wondering what I could do in this case?

I tried to write an e-mail and asked to edit it if possible, but in case the embassy refuses to do it, is there any chance to still get 60 days? I'm wondering if this aspect of the letter influences the decision of the immigration office (specifically speaking, MTT) regarding how long to extend the visa.

If this sentence in the letter is important, should I just not show the letter expecting I could get 60 days without the letter? It's sort of odd, since I thought the letter itself would help me extend for longer than no letter at all.

    Thanks for your response.

I have done enough reading from reputable sources, one of which showed the inventor of the PCR tests stating that they cannot detect Covid-19 on their own, any dead cells from past viruses would flag a positive result, so what do you make of that ?

Let's make it clear. The inventor of PCR tests first of all didn't invent them for CoViD-19 testing. Says it all.

I have seen nothing official from immigration about the 60 day extensions. All I know about them is what members have posted.

I can recall a post stating that they were told that two 60 day extensions would be issued.

The only office that has a mandatory appointment requirement is Muang Thong Thani. Not sure how long that will be in effect.

I heard that there's a limit of two as well. Do you think there will be more updates regarding the 60-day extensions somewhere in November? I'm just confused on whether I just have to go there with/without an embassy letter and ask to get extended. I saw some posts by people who got extended till December 31st, though not sure how it will work in November.

Go to immigration and have your stamp to the 22nd changed to November 30th. You should do it as soon as possible.

Then in November you will be able to a apply for a 60 day extension.

    Hey ubonjoe,

Thanks for your informative/helpful posts. I am in this situation currently, extended till the 30th of November. Are you by any chance aware of what the procedure will be like getting the 60-day extensions? Is there/will there be an online appointment booking system again? From what I understand, such a possibility would allow one stay till the end of January?

    Thanks.

  8. For anyone who got confused by the '3rd October deadline', the excerpt from the letter of my embassy this morning:

"Due to being unable to travel outside the Kingdom to return to their country and unable to proceed according to Section 35 and Section 37 (5) of the Immigration Act 2522 as well as other relevant laws to be completed within 26 September 2020 Section 17 of the Immigration Act, B.E. 2522, amendments were made to extend the time taken under Section 35 and Section 37 (5) of the Immigration Act 2522 for aliens who have been in the Kingdom for a while. From September 27 to October 31, 2020, if the foreigner is unable to leave and wishes to stay after October 31, 2020, they must submit an application to the Immigration Office by the date 31 October 2020.”"

Yes previous poster already said that 30k is for 90 days visa, and same (30k) for 12 months extension (30+30=60k for 15 months). In my case agent offered 25k 3m visa + 35k 12m extension (25+35=60k same).

That was before the deadline Sep/10... after that agents (and their I/O partners in crime) upped the prices (30k+40k or more)... Thai Visa Centre texted me they are still receiving applications until tomorrow 22nd for 30+35k.

Are these 'volunteer visa' agents trusted? How could I contact them? I'd appreciate some information.

    The direct link: http://203.151.166.132/immigrant_queue/booking/

It depends on if you entered Thailand with a tourist visa, or with a visa exempt.

On the page after you entered your name, passport number etc:

Tourist visa: Select the entry which says something like "Extension TR60"

Visa exempt: Something like "Short term visa counter K"

One last thing, it looks like all of the slots for the next week are reserved. Am I screwed? Or is it possible to just come to the immigration office?

  12. Hi there,

I saw there was a link somewhere around this forum for the online registration for the extension of permit of stay based on the embassy letter. Here are my questions:

    1. Could anyone send that link? I cannot seem to find it anymore on Google or forum threads.

    2. I remember there was a screenshot of which appointment to select, could anyone tell exactly which one should be chosen in order to extend the permit of stay under current amnesty for 30 days based on the embassy letter?

    3. Finally, if I register but do not show up, are there any penalties for that, such as impossibility to register for another 30 days at the immigration (similar to Vientiane rules)?

I truly appreciate your time regarding these.

These extension letters, do they really check these? I mean there were 10s of thousands of them the last time, were they calling the embassies to verify each and every one of them? Just seems like a completely useless paper that gets stacked somewhere to never see the sun again.

I think they do that. Even though last time I had an extension letter for 30 days, I had to show up after 14 days being 'under consideration', as some major chief was not present at that time to verify the source of the letter. They finally verified it after my next show up at the immigration office in 14 days, so that I could have 30 days in full, 14 + 16.

With another letter from your embassy you should be able to get another 30 day extension if the amnesty is not extended.

It they will extended it for 30 days and may state it the last one to give your more time to leave or make arrangements for some kind of extension.

Truly appreciate your concise and up to the point reply, hopefully it will work, as my embassy agreed to issue such a letter in these circumstances.

  15. Hi there,

From what I heard, if I already had a 1-month SETV extension at immigration, I will not be able to extend my visa in case the amnesty ends?

So, basically, I arrived in Thailand on the 2nd of January, extended at the end of February till the 1st of April.

The amnesty was granted later on, so I used my CoViD embassy letter extension uselessly, as some people I heard of as well (since my visa was about to expire after the 26th of March, I could use the amnesty, but I wasn't aware of it).

At the moment, my embassy issued me a final letter to stay 30 more days in case no amnesty extension will take place.

I'm a bit worried after reading some comments here. I read on the news that govt suggests to get another letter from an embassy if we wish to stay longer and there are issues leaving. Would that letter that I got be of any use at the actual immigration, however, based on my already used 2 extensions? I'm just hoping that they would neglect the other CoViD extension as invalid or anything, as I didn't in theory need it, but the announcement of amnesty was made later in April.

    Thanks.

  16. Wow, mannn. This is some great news, ha ha.

Basically, a month ago I met a Chinese girl showing her distance sometimes in Thailand, sometimes in China, I guess. So we talked for a few days until one day she was like, look, I'm investing into this new cryptocurrency, AEEC (or something like that). She shows like it made her a return of 70k USD or something in 10 minutes, which seemed like, no, doesn't make much sense, but oh, well, she showed that there was a huge investment, so I didn't bother to research.

So she asks me if I ever invested, I said, what's the point, not interested.

The next day she tells me she talked to her father and that he thinks I'm not ambitious enough to meet her, ha ha. She was nice and I remember I asked if we can make a call, I think she said she 'had Internet connection problem', I didn't bother again.

But your explanation totally fits everything here. I think he/she might have been the same type of scam, even though directly didn't ask me anything, but immediately stopped talking when I said, that's not my point to 'get rich'.

  17. Hi guys,

Just sharing my recent experience with Powerbuy with initially seemed to be a nightmare but finally was sorted out very well.

Back to the 8th of May, my laptop died and I truly needed a new one quickly. I found Powerbuy to be a good option, as they had '1-hour pickup' service. That is, you pay and can just receive the item at the shop the same day.

Due to the fact that I needed the item soon, I ordered a laptop and chose to pay over the counter at Tesco. There was one slight detail that I ignored possibly because of temptation to get it the same day. On the website, they state that they will inform you about the items remaining in stock after you make a payment. I ignored it, as my common sense told me that there must be at least several items available.

Well, I was wrong. So I make a payment the next day and I get a call in 10 minutes stating that there is no item available. This is, of course, not a huge problem, as I ordered another computer from Shopee.

The problem arose afterwards. The call center at 1324 was almost impossible to reach, just as the online chat. I believe I made about 40 calls overall and I only had a chance to contact them 3 times.

The first time, I was told that the English speaking staff will contact me around 8 am the next day. Well, they never called.

The second time, they told me similar thing.

The third time, my Thai friend called them and explained the situation, as they couldn't speak English almost at all. As I don't have a Thai bank account, she told me I could go to Powerbuy at Central World directly and get a cash refund on the 17th of May when the shopping malls opened.

Okay, so that made me relieved. I basically go there on the 17th, bring a payslip, my passport, explain the situation but they keep on calling the same 1324 calling center. I wait for 1 hour and 30 minutes. They can't reach them and tell me that they sent an e-mail. No explanation of what to expect next. So I go home.

A day or two, I decide to try my luck again and go to a different Powerbuy shop. Similar scenario there, they asked me for the order number etc., then gave me a phone to speak to someone who, again, didn't speak English, and they promised to call me this morning at 10. Well, no calls, and I was expecting that.

Besides all of this, I believe I sent 7 e-mails with what live agent asked, such as my passport and payslip, but never got a response to any of those e-mails.

Live agents typically would also tell me that they will contact me by phone in 15 minutes. No calls.

So, yes, I was desperate and I was simply tired of doing this over and over again.

In the end, the situation was resolved upon contacting their president Mr. Pauze via LinkedIn. I didn't expect anything at all, but I felt like it was my last resort. He immediately responded with apologies and asked for my phone number. Today, I was contacted and explained what to do. Went to the same Powerbuy shop I was to yesterday and got an immediate refund in cash finally after 12 days of efforts.

The lessons learnt, probably only pay for an item you receive, what I typically do, as well as don't trust common sense when you see something unusual and weird like 'we'll inform you about the items remaining in stock after you make a payment', ha ha.

  18. And he's not extending. He's going for approval of his under consideration, so that it can now be approved by a higher IO... Come on. Read the post. Post #2 completely answers your question, OP. You have to present at immigration with you passport only, nothing else. When under consideration stamp is approved, you have your permission of stay that will be completely following the decree orders and automatic extensions moving forward.

Based on what I've read, AND a friends experience last week in CM, it all depends on when your visa expired.

If it expired on or before 26th March, you need to continue to obtain a letter from your embassy to obtain another extension.

If it expired after 26th march the extensions will be automatic until the state of emergency is cancelled.

Consideration stamp is not visa. False information.

  20. I've noticed 2 guys in exactly same situation as me regarding 'under consideration'. It's technically not visa, so I'm a little scared. Here's my question just as two people before me had, but I didn't find any confirmation until now:

Could anyone please clarify one thing? I don't want to start a new thread regarding this. My visa expired on April 1st, but I had a CoViD-19 emergency extension using the embassy letter. I am, as other people, 'under consideration' and have to appear at immigration on April 14. Does that imply that I don't have to go immigration on April 14 and my 'under consideration' will also be 'extended' till April 30? Thank you if anyone's aware of that. It seems like it's missing some vital points for those people who actually extended past the 26th of March.
