Let's make it clear. The inventor of PCR tests first of all didn't invent them for CoViD-19 testing. Says it all.

Are you by any chance aware of what the procedure will be like getting the 60-day extensions? Is there/will there be an online appointment booking system again? From what I understand, such a possibility would allow one stay till the end of January?

For anyone who got confused by the '3rd October deadline', the excerpt from the letter of my embassy this morning:

"Due to being unable to travel outside the Kingdom to return to their country and unable to proceed according to Section 35 and Section 37 (5) of the Immigration Act 2522 as well as other relevant laws to be completed within 26 September 2020 Section 17 of the Immigration Act, B.E. 2522, amendments were made to extend the time taken under Section 35 and Section 37 (5) of the Immigration Act 2522 for aliens who have been in the Kingdom for a while. From September 27 to October 31, 2020, if the foreigner is unable to leave and wishes to stay after October 31, 2020, they must submit an application to the Immigration Office by the date 31 October 2020.”"

That was before the deadline Sep/10... after that agents (and their I/O partners in crime) upped the prices (30k+40k or more)... Thai Visa Centre texted me they are still receiving applications until tomorrow 22nd for 30+35k.

Are these 'volunteer visa' agents trusted? How could I contact them? I'd appreciate some information.

It depends on if you entered Thailand with a tourist visa, or with a visa exempt.

On the page after you entered your name, passport number etc:

Tourist visa: Select the entry which says something like "Extension TR60"

Visa exempt: Something like "Short term visa counter K"

One last thing, it looks like all of the slots for the next week are reserved. Am I screwed? Or is it possible to just come to the immigration office?

It depends on if you entered Thailand with a tourist visa, or with a visa exempt.

On the page after you entered your name, passport number etc:

Tourist visa: Select the entry which says something like "Extension TR60"

Visa exempt: Something like "Short term visa counter K"

I saw there was a link somewhere around this forum for the online registration for the extension of permit of stay based on the embassy letter. Here are my questions:

1. Could anyone send that link? I cannot seem to find it anymore on Google or forum threads.

2. I remember there was a screenshot of which appointment to select, could anyone tell exactly which one should be chosen in order to extend the permit of stay under current amnesty for 30 days based on the embassy letter?

3. Finally, if I register but do not show up, are there any penalties for that, such as impossibility to register for another 30 days at the immigration (similar to Vientiane rules)?

I truly appreciate your time regarding these.

I think they do that. Even though last time I had an extension letter for 30 days, I had to show up after 14 days being 'under consideration', as some major chief was not present at that time to verify the source of the letter. They finally verified it after my next show up at the immigration office in 14 days, so that I could have 30 days in full, 14 + 16.

It they will extended it for 30 days and may state it the last one to give your more time to leave or make arrangements for some kind of extension.

Truly appreciate your concise and up to the point reply, hopefully it will work, as my embassy agreed to issue such a letter in these circumstances.

From what I heard, if I already had a 1-month SETV extension at immigration, I will not be able to extend my visa in case the amnesty ends?

So, basically, I arrived in Thailand on the 2nd of January, extended at the end of February till the 1st of April.

The amnesty was granted later on, so I used my CoViD embassy letter extension uselessly, as some people I heard of as well (since my visa was about to expire after the 26th of March, I could use the amnesty, but I wasn't aware of it).

At the moment, my embassy issued me a final letter to stay 30 more days in case no amnesty extension will take place.

I'm a bit worried after reading some comments here. I read on the news that govt suggests to get another letter from an embassy if we wish to stay longer and there are issues leaving. Would that letter that I got be of any use at the actual immigration, however, based on my already used 2 extensions? I'm just hoping that they would neglect the other CoViD extension as invalid or anything, as I didn't in theory need it, but the announcement of amnesty was made later in April.

Wow, mannn. This is some great news, ha ha.

Basically, a month ago I met a Chinese girl showing her distance sometimes in Thailand, sometimes in China, I guess. So we talked for a few days until one day she was like, look, I'm investing into this new cryptocurrency, AEEC (or something like that). She shows like it made her a return of 70k USD or something in 10 minutes, which seemed like, no, doesn't make much sense, but oh, well, she showed that there was a huge investment, so I didn't bother to research.

So she asks me if I ever invested, I said, what's the point, not interested.

The next day she tells me she talked to her father and that he thinks I'm not ambitious enough to meet her, ha ha. She was nice and I remember I asked if we can make a call, I think she said she 'had Internet connection problem', I didn't bother again.

But your explanation totally fits everything here. I think he/she might have been the same type of scam, even though directly didn't ask me anything, but immediately stopped talking when I said, that's not my point to 'get rich'.

Just sharing my recent experience with Powerbuy with initially seemed to be a nightmare but finally was sorted out very well.

Back to the 8th of May, my laptop died and I truly needed a new one quickly. I found Powerbuy to be a good option, as they had '1-hour pickup' service. That is, you pay and can just receive the item at the shop the same day.

Due to the fact that I needed the item soon, I ordered a laptop and chose to pay over the counter at Tesco. There was one slight detail that I ignored possibly because of temptation to get it the same day. On the website, they state that they will inform you about the items remaining in stock after you make a payment. I ignored it, as my common sense told me that there must be at least several items available.

Well, I was wrong. So I make a payment the next day and I get a call in 10 minutes stating that there is no item available. This is, of course, not a huge problem, as I ordered another computer from Shopee.

The problem arose afterwards. The call center at 1324 was almost impossible to reach, just as the online chat. I believe I made about 40 calls overall and I only had a chance to contact them 3 times.

The first time, I was told that the English speaking staff will contact me around 8 am the next day. Well, they never called.

The second time, they told me similar thing.

The third time, my Thai friend called them and explained the situation, as they couldn't speak English almost at all. As I don't have a Thai bank account, she told me I could go to Powerbuy at Central World directly and get a cash refund on the 17th of May when the shopping malls opened.

Okay, so that made me relieved. I basically go there on the 17th, bring a payslip, my passport, explain the situation but they keep on calling the same 1324 calling center. I wait for 1 hour and 30 minutes. They can't reach them and tell me that they sent an e-mail. No explanation of what to expect next. So I go home.

A day or two, I decide to try my luck again and go to a different Powerbuy shop. Similar scenario there, they asked me for the order number etc., then gave me a phone to speak to someone who, again, didn't speak English, and they promised to call me this morning at 10. Well, no calls, and I was expecting that.

Besides all of this, I believe I sent 7 e-mails with what live agent asked, such as my passport and payslip, but never got a response to any of those e-mails.

Live agents typically would also tell me that they will contact me by phone in 15 minutes. No calls.

So, yes, I was desperate and I was simply tired of doing this over and over again.

In the end, the situation was resolved upon contacting their president Mr. Pauze via LinkedIn. I didn't expect anything at all, but I felt like it was my last resort. He immediately responded with apologies and asked for my phone number. Today, I was contacted and explained what to do. Went to the same Powerbuy shop I was to yesterday and got an immediate refund in cash finally after 12 days of efforts.

The lessons learnt, probably only pay for an item you receive, what I typically do, as well as don't trust common sense when you see something unusual and weird like 'we'll inform you about the items remaining in stock after you make a payment', ha ha.

And he's not extending. He's going for approval of his under consideration, so that it can now be approved by a higher IO... Come on. Read the post. Post #2 completely answers your question, OP. You have to present at immigration with you passport only, nothing else. When under consideration stamp is approved, you have your permission of stay that will be completely following the decree orders and automatic extensions moving forward.

I've just checked the other threads regarding this. I couldn't find any info before, I'm more aware of the reasons now.

But yeah. Let's hope something will change not only for those who are here since March.

Spent 6 hours just to realize that I was given an N1 counter ticket instead of J. Nonetheless. They brought me to the J counter and I got the extension.

My embassy letter clearly states 30 days. However, the stamp says that I have to show up at the immigration on April 14 and I am under consideration. I asked if I will have to pay. They said no. And that it's same two step process to everyone.

Is that true? What's the point? Another 6 hours at immigration with all the virus risks? They are not charging additionally so I cannot wrap my head understanding what's the point in all this.

You stated that tourist visa extensions are now made in Muang Thong Thani. Can anyone confirm this? Is it better to just go there straight?

As long as you haven't used up your 2 land border exemptions this year, then you should have no problem crossing from Laos on visa exemption. (Or most land borders for that matter)

 

An education visa is something you could look in to, as you haven't got one yet, but not cheap.

A new passport would give you a blank slate when it comes to obtaining visas in the region, but obviously not at immigration checkpoints.

Just for reference, it still worked and I got one, I was surprised. ????
