Im one of those Americans with long memories that care not one whit what Germany thinks.
Or anyone else in the world, outside planet USA. I too have a long memory and remember how the US stole the patent for the jet engine from the UK. Bloody thieves, worse than Aussies or Scousers.

Without a photo opp and large plastic banner ,these police have no idea how to and when to enforce any laws...''why bother if no one is watching attitude''
There have already been vague threats to bring in the army. There was a lot going on at a very high level just before the outbreak. Maybe a back door route to taking us back to the good old days post 2015.

Very convenient theory.
And the only one backed up with facts (as opposed to conspiracy theories).

the covid disease does originate from laboratories in either China or the USA so technically foreigners are to blame.
The accepted theory is that wild bats in Hubei developed a mutation of other coronaviruses and passed it on to the local pangolin, which were sold in Wuhan and eaten by the lcals who developed what we now know as COVID-19. The laborotory route was a conspiracy theory developed by US conspiracy theorists (who else).

Foreigners, what's the difference a Farang is a foreigner.
Do you live in Thailand? Farang is a white Westerner. Not all (or even most) foreigners are farangs.

It runs between Soi Nurn Plub Wan and Soi Siam. Staggered junction on Soi Neurn. One way goes to yours, the other to Soi Siam.

So have I up to now, as you suggest, it is an easy process. However, I will no longer keep topping up my funds in this country and that requirement has changed my mind. I will no longer invest any more than I absolutely have to in Thailand.
65k baht/month is hardly an investment in Thailand. I've always spent more than that anyway.

Same as Trump. Same as Boris Johnson. And people laugh at Prayut?

Go for an early evening walk along the beach front between pratumnak and Jomtien, there were a lot of stalls selling masks.
One of our friends, on the Darkside, has a laundry, clothing repair shop. She is now making masks and doing good business. Choose your own materials and she can make you a mask whilst you wait. Same as Prayut's. 30 baht and becoming a real fashion accessory for the locals.

Only about 5% of people in this village are wearing masks, the vast majority are not.
Most of the none wearers listened to the local monk, spouting off that is is only affecting people in the cities, out here in the sticks it is safe.
I live on the Darkside, Pattaya, as per the thread title. Maybe it's different here, people are much less tied to the Wat.
However, it sounds like your local Pa has got it right, wearing masks is a total waste of time. As I said, I havn't been past my front gate for 3 weeks but if I did, I would wear a mask but only to placate the locals. Nothing wrong with that.

Was shopping at Big C Extra Pattaya Klang yesterday and have seen at least 10 Thais without mask but not a single Foreigner.
I also passed today the big Plot on the Khao Thalo / Sukhumvit Intersection and they setting up the monthly amusement park and market for the Thais.
This country turned to such an racist place that i dont know for how long I can stand it.
What pisses me off is all the fake news on this forum. Every Thai I know religeously wears a mask when out shopping. They have all been absolutely brilliant with me. I have been confined to barracks for 3 weeks now due to serious pre existing medical conditions. Everyone who visits knows this and why. All my Thai friends respect my need for social distancing.
Guy from the local market has just delivered my lunch. Pad krapow moo gorb and a jug of cha manao. Stayed at the gate, wearing his mask, chatting and joking with me whilst my wife paid him and took my food from him. I wouldn't get that service if I was holed up in the UK. Thai people particularly Issan folk, as was my food vendor, have really come through for me in this time of crisis.
I'm more convinced than ever that making Thailand my choice of abode until my end of days was absolutely the right choice.

At least he can get an Haircut in Pattaya
Always been a problem for me. My hair has always been difficult to cut properly. In my youth I've been known to make a 500 mile round trip for a decent haircut.
I've found 2 barbers in Pattaya that can give me a half decent cut. I have both of their personal numbers on my mobile. Should the need arise and hairdressers in Pattaya close, I can arrange a home visit from them.

It pretty much is, but there were tourists that came here when it wasn't shut down, and despite warnings, either prior to coming here and / or whilst they were here, failed to cancel their holiday, or cut short their holiday, and evacuate. They are now stuck here for the foreseeable future.
With no end in sight, I suggest a monthly rental condo is a better option than a hotel, if there are any hotels remaining open. A condo would also be better for self isolation.
Like who? I'm from the UK and could have got a flight out last week. More difficult for people to get home but not impossible.

I like the arrogance of UEFA in thinking that they will decide when football will recommence. I didn't realise that they had executive power over the respective governments of the countries under their umbrella, who might want to have a say in the matter.

That's going to be interesting. I have a friend who is coming back from Pattaya in May. He doesn't tolerate fools gladly, so he may well stay there.
Under current rules for Chonburi, he wouldn't be allowed to leave Pattaya anyway.

May as well throw the fit to fly certificate out the window,if they are going to test and quarantine people on arrival!!! OR Vice Versa!!! TIT.
A "fit to fly" certificate is not the same as the "free from Covid-19" certificate as was required for foreigners entering Thailand. Fairly standard certificate which clears you from having a fever but not much else.

I'm sure, through social media, we are all aware of those business owners who choose to ignore the directive. I personally put them in the same category of those who strip supdrmarket shelves and deprive others.
He didn't ignore anything was visited by local authorities and told to space the tables out further and not to serve alcohol, which he did. Revisited today and told to close on the 26th, which he will.
Don't know any true restaurants that were initially ordered to close, just stop serving alcohol. New orders today.

Though I live in Phuket, I have several friends with restaurant businesses in Pattaya. They have been forcibly closed apart from delivery/take away service. Because a business chooses to ignore directives to close in their own selfish interest doesn't make it any less deplorable, whether that be in Pattaya, Phuket, or anywhere else. They are not doing anybody any favours for sure.
It may also be that the restaurant you're referring to is in a hotel, in which case they are allowed to remain open, but serving hotel resident guests only.
No it's a standalone restaurant owned by a Brit. However his wife came round a few minutes ago and said that he has been ordered to close on the 26th, which he will do. Not going to offer a take out service as it's fine dining and wouldn't be appropriate.

Ooo, touchy! This may be a Phuket forum but is open to all members. People are just trying to compare the differences in application between provinces.

State of emergency means 'no more entertainment places'
1. No more bars (naughty or otherwise)
2. No more massage parlours
3. No more beaches
4. No more shopping
5. No more partying
6. No interprovincial travelling
If you must have entertainment, it's time to go back to home country.
I guess that they will follow the lead of several of the more sensible Western countries that have taken similar measures. So, all the above except 4. Shopping for food will be allowed, supermarkets will remain open.
