One day not so long ago the missus and I were shopping at BoBai tower when an Indian man walked past us and the smell given off was absolutely disgusting! Brut 33 wouldn't have the power to overpower the stench! Do the Thai's really want more tourists like that?

I can understand the frustration of the Brit's on the forum. The Aussie $ has slid from 32.50 down to 20. Partly due to the fact the politician's in Oz have <deleted> for brains...and partly due to the baht getting stronger. But the pound at 25 baht, that would be bad!

Subsidising the farmers again with pledges of financial aid.. why don't the farmers learn to grow an alternative crop, or are they only capable of growing rice ?
Good question! Some are trying alternative crops. Some just won't change and other are trapped. Take for example my wife who has 20 rai of rice land. We would like to grow trees for timber there but the problem is the land gets flooded in the wet season and the soil is sodden for weeks. Not good for the tree roots! So instead of being used the land is unproductive.....until we can figure out a solution.....or rent it to a rice farmer!

So, I have a car license and a motorcycle license which should mean I have 2 lots of 12 points......

If the Thai's didn't just drive along/ride along dropping their drink containers and food wraps....there wouldn't be a problem.

555! The word "charisma" has taken on a whole new meaning! Is it the uniform that has woman swooning all over him or is it the flashing eyes and manly smile??? Sarcasm, a jealous man's weapon of choice.... ????

Yet in another article I read the Thai government has US$216 billion in foreign reserves. Maybe drawing down on that would help them avoid paying interest to the un-named lender.

What drought??? Sure wet season was a late starter and the early rice planters came unstuck but it's been bucketing down regularly here so much that both our dams are overflowing! Some things never seem to change. Come December and everyone will be shocked by the cold weather and lack of blankets to keep people warm.....

What can you get at 4am that you cannot get at 4pm? I was in Soi 4 Sukhumvit Rd Bangkok a few months ago, looking for a pizza restaurant.....really, and a number of sweet young ladies were suggesting I could have a good time with them....which was around 4pm. I rest my case!

Hmmm, me thinks this will all be forgotten by the end of the month. In Muang Phitsanulok they are now using a traffic camera to book law breakers. Can't have those nice policeman standing out in the hot sun to much can we. Ps: The wife's daughter got pinched by a traffic camera twice (2 x 400 baht) for no helmet...in the same week!

Flip flop, flip flop how do we do! Seems like some in Bangkok are doing nicely thank you very much. Not so for many peasant workers in the country....or for that matter some company workers from Rayong who now find themselves out of work. 2 have returned to my village in the past 3 months. Buckbees 'golden eggs' analogue has much merit!

If may of you are like me your in and out a couple of times a year and have to pay whatever fee's are levied at the airport....so once we are forced to buy expat insurance any airport (tourist) insurance tax will be waived, or rebated?

Having only lived here for 10 years, 4 in Pattaya & 6 up country, I can see a lot of things that could be improved....but not all will be. I don't drive down to Bangkok preferring taking the bus or train. The quality of railway carriages needs a good lift and the quality of buses from Phitsanulok needs a huge lift. Tourists who choose to take a bus somewhere must be horrified when they see the rusted out ancient clunkers we locals have to travel in!

Numbers slumbers. Any number can be extracted from any data to be something different. Add in a few graphs to boot. What gets me is how they can workout (guess) how much is spent by the tourists. 90+ percent of business here is cash.....
